Except that it's not that simple. Kansas State is also a factor.
December 4th, 2011 at 3:39 PM ^
Only if TCU isn't in the top 16 then it would be between K State or Boise
December 4th, 2011 at 3:41 PM ^
There you go...so in answering the question, who do you want?
December 4th, 2011 at 4:06 PM ^
I don't really care. I think we matchup well with all of them. That said, I'd prefer K-State/TCU to Boise. And while a Fiesta Bowl trip means that I get to attend (although with the coaches poll having bama a solid #2, its highly unlikely), I'd rather play any of those teams than a stanford team that would thrash us through the air.
December 4th, 2011 at 6:51 PM ^
Hearing it's KSU.
December 4th, 2011 at 3:32 PM ^
and I hope they're good.
December 4th, 2011 at 3:32 PM ^
December 4th, 2011 at 3:39 PM ^
Agreed.
December 4th, 2011 at 3:43 PM ^
I think its really unlikely that Boise gets picked at large. They have a comparable fan base to boise, but k state would add way more viewers (big 12 markets) than boise would (mountain west markets)
December 4th, 2011 at 4:08 PM ^
Doesn't MSU open with Boise State next year? Would be nice to beat Boise with Moore and then have then beat MSU to start the season next year.
December 4th, 2011 at 3:33 PM ^
I hope it's KState. And I think there's a good chance of it being that.
December 4th, 2011 at 3:33 PM ^
Boise state
December 4th, 2011 at 3:33 PM ^
If it is between those two, I say TCU. Although they did beat Boise, Kellen Moore terrifies me, and I think Denard would have more success against TCU than Boise.
December 4th, 2011 at 3:33 PM ^
Higher level of competition and just a better overall game I think.
December 4th, 2011 at 3:35 PM ^
Slippery Rock
December 4th, 2011 at 3:37 PM ^
You know what I wish? I wish one of the gazillion times we're away next season, we'd have a Slippery Rock game in the Big House. I think they did that once in the '80s.
December 4th, 2011 at 3:43 PM ^
But who would we root for?
EDIT: Ah, totally misread that. I thought you meant for us to play Slippery Rock in the Big House.
December 4th, 2011 at 4:13 PM ^
(sp?)
December 4th, 2011 at 3:36 PM ^
but I would prefer TCU.
December 4th, 2011 at 3:36 PM ^
We would not beat Boise, decent shot against TCU or K State. I choose K State.
December 4th, 2011 at 3:38 PM ^
Their defense would be overmatched. I have more fish in GMatt than I do in Boise's two stars versus DRob, Fitz, Junior, etc.
December 4th, 2011 at 4:03 PM ^
They weren't overmatched against Georgia, and they're very opportunistic, which makes me nervous if Denard has to throw a lot. I also don't like our secondary against Kellen Moore.
December 4th, 2011 at 4:16 PM ^
They have not see speed like Denard. I also will argue that Georgia is a different team. Then when Boise played them.
December 4th, 2011 at 5:20 PM ^
I think their defense is an average BCS defense, which is more than you can say for the typical; non-AQ squad not named TCU, but Georgia did score 21 against Boise and weren't so much slowed down by Boise as just make some bad plays.
I think Boise would be a nice matchup, but I have a sense it won't be them. Personally, I'd like UM-Stanford just for the B1G/Pac-10 symmetry and the fact that it would be a really fun game to see Luck and Denard dominate in their own ways.
December 4th, 2011 at 3:37 PM ^
December 4th, 2011 at 3:38 PM ^
But I will be happy regardless of the opponent.
December 4th, 2011 at 3:37 PM ^
Why would Sugar Bowl choose Boise State when they don't have to?
December 4th, 2011 at 3:37 PM ^
Boise State, and if they do I will be going to that game.
December 4th, 2011 at 3:37 PM ^
Houston
December 4th, 2011 at 3:38 PM ^
Soo... I would enjoy beating them. And possibly having them beat MSU when they play next year, so we can have more bragging rights.
December 4th, 2011 at 3:38 PM ^
We play Bama first game next yr. Bring on the best if you ask me. It will prepare us for our NC run next year.
December 4th, 2011 at 3:38 PM ^
Joke almost beat them last year.
December 4th, 2011 at 3:43 PM ^
I am not familiar with this person.
December 4th, 2011 at 3:38 PM ^
We aren't in yet. I just hope we are playing in the damn game ... at this point it doesn't matter who else is in the Sugar Bowl, especially if we are not. If we make it ... I'll gladly play whomever they say we are playing against
December 4th, 2011 at 3:39 PM ^
Guys, there are still so many options out there that this kind of thread is completely useless (and I'm normally fine with speculation threads). Can't we just wait until 8:15, and then start discussing who we are really playing?
December 4th, 2011 at 3:42 PM ^
It's a question...who do you WANT to play?
Not who do you think we'll play. It's who do you want to play of the names being floated around for the Sugar. It's so simple, why can't we just answer the question?
December 4th, 2011 at 3:47 PM ^
1. West Virginia. 2. Virginia Tech.
I think the reason it is speculation is because you put forth only three of at least 5 possible teams. Of those you put forth....1. KSU, 2. TCU, 3. Boise. I don't want Boise in a bowl game. They are good, and not a lot of upside. Beating WVU would be awesome for obvious reasons, and Va Tech would be a good matchup against a team from the ACC we haven't played perhaps ever, etc.
December 4th, 2011 at 4:04 PM ^
If RR was still here you know they'd be moving heaven and earth to match us up with WVU.
December 4th, 2011 at 3:45 PM ^
The fact that there are so many threads with so many comments shows that people want to discuss this.
December 4th, 2011 at 3:39 PM ^
...because I think they would be the best matchup for us in this scenario, BUT....
....I also shall wait for 8:15 PM, since I can hardly stand not really knowing at this point.
December 4th, 2011 at 3:40 PM ^
Alabama
December 4th, 2011 at 3:41 PM ^
Stanford
December 4th, 2011 at 3:40 PM ^
West Virginia.
December 4th, 2011 at 4:51 PM ^
I think WVU would be the most interesting matchup available to us under the present circumstances.
TCU, because I have seen so little of them, would also be interesting. The Horned Frogs certainly gave Wisconsin something to think about last year.
December 4th, 2011 at 6:03 PM ^
A little TOO much to think about. Us too. Not that KSU is a pushover, but unlike Houston, TCU plays defense as well as offense. Not really interested. (West Virginia would be fun, without quite the venom with new coaches, and maybe a more likely win, as the Big East isn't good...but not looking too likely at this point).
December 4th, 2011 at 3:41 PM ^
I prefer a team from a BCS conference. Otherwise it's a lose - lose.
December 4th, 2011 at 3:42 PM ^
Kansas State. I don't understand why people think TCU is even worth a bid.
December 4th, 2011 at 3:44 PM ^
They would be an autobid if they get into the top 16.
December 4th, 2011 at 3:51 PM ^
I know, and to me, that's the biggest current problem with the BCS. That they didn't have the balls to kick out the Big East like they should've, and thus, crap-ass midmajors like TCU have an easy path in.
Plus, occasionally I see people thinking that they deserve a bid regardless of autobid status. (That is, had Houston kept it.) It boggles the mind.
