Beat Ohio. As a student, nothing could possibly make me prouder this year. I only get to see 2 games vs Ohio while I'm here and we damn well better win this one
November 22nd, 2011 at 12:36 AM ^
You only get to see two games while you're a student?! Damned ninny! There's two other road games, plus possible Big 10 Titles and, God-forbid, a bowl game! I went to four Michigan games during my time, four! Remember to try to watch the game when you're there, look up from those darn texts every few minutes, okay?
November 22nd, 2011 at 12:46 AM ^
Im talking home games vs Ohio....
November 22nd, 2011 at 5:27 AM ^
I believe he was referencing the two home games which would normally take place during your undergraduate years. I went to all four OSU games in my time myself. Actually, not including the bowls, I went to 42 of 48 in those four years (accommodations for the Rose Bowl were easy for me - most of my family is in Los Angeles, which will invite questions as to why I live in Metro Detroit sometimes).

You're cool bro. You're real cool.
November 22nd, 2011 at 12:26 AM ^
Oh man I can't freaking wait! After we beat Ohio, I am going to rush the field so vigorously and emphaphatically and deliberatly, Fred Jackson will complement me and say I remind him of the one and only, Mike Hart.
(Sidenote: We do rush the field right? Seeing as I've never been around when we beat Ohio at home, I've heard rumors we do.)
November 22nd, 2011 at 12:34 AM ^
I'm just going to see what happens. I'm not a big fan of rushing the field since this is Michigan Fergodsakes and lets act like we've won before, but I'm not going to pass up the opportunity if it presents itself.
Also, I have a feeling that thousands of students trying to jump down from the ledge could end really poorly.

November 22nd, 2011 at 1:03 AM ^
I was there as well. However, in 2003 we beat #2 Ohio. This time, it is UNRANKED Ohio.
You don't rush the field when you beat an unranked team IMO.
November 22nd, 2011 at 1:10 AM ^
We haven't beaten OSU in eight friggin' years. I never got the opportunity to rush the field, if you get it, take it.
November 22nd, 2011 at 1:18 AM ^
Finally someone who gets it. This is my only chance to rush, why waste it. Granted my sole purpose in rushing is to get to hoke and rub his budha belly. He poops gold fergodsakes, that digestive tract is magical!
November 22nd, 2011 at 2:13 AM ^
This is my last game against Ohio at home as a student, and with the all that we have had to put up with in the last several years (mind you, I'm a junior so I've only been in the student section for three years, but I've been a life-long fan, so I've still felt the trauma that 2007 and 2008 dealt upon us), I think we deserve a chance to rush the field (inb4 student section sucks).
We've seen one of the (if not the) worst stretches in Michigan football history, yet we've persevered. And if we beat Ohio, I say we rush it.
Let Ohio know what this rivalry still means us.
Let them know that the students still care.
Let them know that this is still Michigan.
Fergodsakes.
November 22nd, 2011 at 2:21 AM ^
I totally agree. The only part of me that is nervous is that ohio rushed the field against wisconsin and that left a terrible taste in my mouth. Like seriously... 6-6 ohio rushed for beating 9-2 wisconsin on a horrific throw by miller. It will look bad rushing with a score like that of nebraska. My buddy keeps saying you only rush is you beat #1 or clinch the rose bowl. But I say 7 years is too much and clinching the sugar bowl is just as sweet as getting a rose.
November 22nd, 2011 at 2:38 AM ^
- Gone to three Rose Bowls
- Won the Big Ten Championship
- Almost made it to a MNC game
- Beat a Heisman Trophy winner in a bowl game to end a great coaching career
Yet the whole time we have had one consistent failure. We have not beat Ohio.
It makes it so I can't look back and say, those were great years for Michigan—they were good years, but we never beat Ohio, so they will never be great in my mind.
However, a win this week, to (more or less) clinch a BCS birth in Hoke's first season, and to do it against the bitterest of rivals, against whom victory has eluded us for so long.
That would make this a great year, and hopefully the beginning of many great years.
November 22nd, 2011 at 3:48 AM ^
Bull. We haven't beaten Ohio since 2003. Who cares how they did in their other games or what some stupid poll ranks them? It doesn't matter if they're ranked 2 or 102, after what this program has been through, a victory means that the field is going to get rushed.
November 22nd, 2011 at 6:43 AM ^
Yeah Ohio only had one loss before the game in 2003. Not sure if they were as high as #2 but they were definitely in the top 5
November 22nd, 2011 at 8:38 AM ^
I was at the last one too. It was beating #4 Ohio while we were #5 and it was for the B1G Championship. I agree that rushing the field this year would be a bit pathetic. Ohio fans will get a lot of mileage out of that.
November 22nd, 2011 at 6:58 AM ^
i rushed the field in 2003 as a (relatively) old man and in 1971 as a freshman against a mediocre ohio team-if you get the chance you do it-there's no other feeling like it
November 22nd, 2011 at 12:39 AM ^
I will defend that field from you damned hooligans if it costs me dearly! This is out of control and pure anarchy if you students even think about it. Have some respect and act like you've been there before. I don't think I could be more embarassed, think about it when the students rushed the court for basketball last year! Embarassing.
November 22nd, 2011 at 1:09 AM ^
YOU are the root of all evil that allowed such a great rivalry to go sour recently. YOU called for Carr's head. YOU ask people to sit down at whats supposed to be the best stadium in the country. YOU want to get rid of the student chants so we seem proper. GUESS WHAT! This is michigan, this is college, so stop telling people they cant get overly excited about something they love and care about. After paying $50,000 a year for school and watching dick rod implode our program, I can damn well rush the field if I please.
November 22nd, 2011 at 2:53 AM ^
it's like we already won. I sure hope and think we do, but O$U isn't just going to roll over just because we are favored.
November 22nd, 2011 at 2:57 AM ^
(and we all were at one point, trust me)
I'll give you a heads up,
The nicknames like O$U, M$U and other nicknames which I dare not say, are generally frowned upon here. So avoid them.
That being said, you bring up a good point. But, it's so nice to be optimistic about this game. We haven't had a chance to do that in a long time.

This has to be satire, right?

Look at his quote about anything anti-tradition. Plus he joined the blog two days ago. He don't know how we roll

This guy is one of the people that think we should still be running Mike Debord's offense

November 22nd, 2011 at 12:53 AM ^
A win over Duke doesn't give us the Maui title. There is a bottom side to the bracket that includes Kansas, G-Town, and UCLA. I do still think we are gonna win it, it's just gonna take more than 1 day. Go BLUE!! Can't wait til Saturday.
November 22nd, 2011 at 1:29 AM ^
1 day left equates to Wednesday (it's past midnight), which is when the championship would be played..
November 22nd, 2011 at 2:29 AM ^
Fair enough. Makes sense, guess that's what being in a different time zone gets me. My bad. I guess I could've considered the way the "There are" posts are made.
November 22nd, 2011 at 3:00 AM ^
I made the same mistake in my head, don't worry. Yeah, we're overlooking Duke. So fucking what? We're Michigan...you guys can finish the rest.
November 22nd, 2011 at 7:27 AM ^
FERGODSAKES!
I had to do it...
November 22nd, 2011 at 1:36 AM ^
that we have an incredible week of sports to get us through this week. Beat the goddamn Blue Devils!
November 22nd, 2011 at 5:28 AM ^
I want to beat OSU NOW though...
November 22nd, 2011 at 9:04 AM ^
I can't wait for Saturday... hoping the rain stays away though. 2007 flashback.
November 22nd, 2011 at 3:12 PM ^
Will there be enough fans in the stands to rush the field when we win by 35? I am going to rush my TV.
