Hello from SW Florida!

The winds have definitely picked up but lack of heavy rain is keeping the power up.

I'm outside of the storm surge area, but that will probably be the most damaging aspect of this storm, especially if/when it reaches Tampa.

I'll just be glad when this whole stupid thing is over. Yesterday my local ABC channel was playing the same storm info over and over instead of the game. Had to find a nice stream online.

I love watching it, with the exception of when it's being used against Michigan.

When run properly (like last night) it's a thing of beauty. GT may be my favorite team to watch after Michigan.

The bowl game between GT and one of the Mississippi teams (I think it was MSU) a few years back was awesome too.

91-80 Michigan. Duncan hits 6-6 3's, Mo has 19 points, Wilson has a block on Ennis that makes the state of Oregon forget about Chris Boucher, Walton misses all but one of his 3's which is a pull-up within the last 2 minutes to seal the deal. Zak makes 6-6 free throws to ice the game.

As far as I can tell, he is

As far as I can tell, he is an eligible receiver because there aren't any other receivers outside of him. The other two "receivers" lined up to the right of him are technically in the backfield. Contrast this to the left side of the line where you have one guy on the edge who splits out as a receiver. The lineman on the inside cannot be an eligible receiver.

Janet Evans has 4 Olympic

Janet Evans has 4 Olympic golds, but also did well at the World Championships and dominated the Pan Pacifics.

Ledecky also has 4 Olympic Golds (and you can probably hand her the 800 free too). She has more World Championship golds as well, and a large amount of Pan Pacific wins. The most amazing thing is that she has never lost an event at any of these meets.

While I don't think they have the worst drivers, Boston is a nightmare for me.

Florida has some scary drivers, mostly because they cross 6 lanes at 80 MPH without using an indicator. Oh, and they probably can't see past the windshield.

Chris Evans

He's pretty good with a shield.

I had never heard of that and

I had never heard of that and just looked it up. You're right. I have no idea why anyone thought that would be a good idea.

TBH anyone who swims at that level pretty much has the same life. You have to be training constantly. You'll be in the pool twice a day, seven days a week, not to mention training outside the pool every day. In highschool and college the rest of your time is school and (if you can muster the energy) some other activity. Swimming becomes your life, your only friends are other swimmers (you don't have time for anyone else). It's grueling.

I competed in a swim meet in

I competed in a swim meet in Orlando in 2011. Ryan Lochte and Pete Vanderkaay were both in attendance. While I wasn't fast enough to be in finals with either of them, it was awesome to watch swimming legends like that.

Probably the coolest moment of the entire event was the mile final. You had Lochte, Vanderkaay and, at the time, Florida's best long distance swimmer and a junior national record-holder Nick Caldwell. Vanderkaay won by a couple body lengths (not unexpected), but it was great to see all three in the pool at the same time. I still have a picture of the final scoreboard.

My claim to faim is that Vanderkaay and I warmed down in the same lane after prelims for an event. Very down to earth guy who chatted for a while (he was as keen as not actually warming down as I was.) Lochte was also super chill and would talk to anyone and everyone behind the blocks. Both were willing to sign autographs and just seemed to enjoy the swimming culture.

I attended the practice and,

I attended the practice and, based on that limited 3ish-hour window, Shane looked better. However:

I think O'Korn was deliberately making check-downs and progressions as opposed to seeing a guy briefly open and firing away. From rep-rotation and who was playing with whom it looked like O'Korn was the guy. He did miss some open screens and other short passes, but I think a lot of that was disruption in the backfield. Made one beautiful pass to Darboh early on in a scrimmage like situation for a touchdown.

Shane looked like what I think many of us thought he would be. Strong arm, risky, and maybe a little cocky in his decision making. He threw one pass into double coverage that was absolutely perfect, even if it wasn't the best decision. He threw a similar pass later that wasn't perfect, and was picked off by Stribling. He seemed exceptionally confident compared to how we've seen him play on the field.

If I had to guess based on what I saw, O'Korn is the guy right now, but Shane is pushing him for a spot. I'm guessing Shane may have had a better day, but O'Korn is more consistent.
