Great substition for this game in the 2 hole.
October 3rd, 2011 at 10:20 PM ^
make them pay for this!!!
Lets go VMart!
October 3rd, 2011 at 10:21 PM ^
Get CC outta here. His neck rolls make me sick.
October 3rd, 2011 at 10:21 PM ^
You won't like him when he's angry.
October 3rd, 2011 at 10:24 PM ^
V-Mart has been decidedly un-clutch in this game. Hopefully he can start facing some Yankee right-handers.
October 3rd, 2011 at 10:27 PM ^
I've never seen CC like this.
October 3rd, 2011 at 10:28 PM ^
Going to defense already?? I would rather Magglio get one more AB over Don Kelly.
Please make me eat crow, Don Kelly.
October 3rd, 2011 at 10:29 PM ^
because he is the very next at bat.
October 3rd, 2011 at 10:31 PM ^
That's why it makes even more sense. At worst you're losing the potential for a solo HR. Hell, Don Kelly is just as likely to hit a solo shot. Why not get the defense in now?
October 3rd, 2011 at 10:35 PM ^
Kelly might be more likely to hit a solo shot. I would think Ordonez OBP would be higher though
October 3rd, 2011 at 10:41 PM ^
To play Ordonez for the AB, then if he got on put Kelly on as a pinch runner.
[Edit: that works too. WOOOOOO don kelly!]
October 3rd, 2011 at 10:39 PM ^
True and I was thinking that as I typed it. Especially since Mags is swinging a hot bat. But, you know he's not going to come up to the plate with RISP the rest of the game unless you're not at all replacing him, so a leadoff AB seems to be an easy thing to sacrifice.
If Kelly gets on it works out perfectly since he would have pinch ran anyway and won't clog up the bases as a lead off baserunner.
EDIT: WHAT A BUNT!!!!
October 3rd, 2011 at 10:29 PM ^
ride Verlander for a full 9 innings or go to Valverde again tonight?
October 3rd, 2011 at 10:33 PM ^
Bring in Valverde if necessary.
October 3rd, 2011 at 10:33 PM ^
Good move by Leyland to go to Kelly. It may seem early and you don't want to give up Mag's ABs, but he's due to lead off next inning so it's not like Kelly is taking his place and potentially removing him from an important AB, so might as well get the defensive upgrade now. At worst we miss out on the potential for a solo HR.
You could take a chance and leave him in and hope Ordonez gets on, but you'll pinch run immediately. So, do you risk a 10% better chance at a hit for defensive liability? I go defense with a one run lead.
October 3rd, 2011 at 10:34 PM ^
Man I love watching Verlander pitch. He looks a little nervous but is still just dominating the Yankee lineup.
October 3rd, 2011 at 10:35 PM ^
JV is a robot.
October 3rd, 2011 at 10:37 PM ^
why didnt you eliminate them Miguel??
shut up.
ESPN needs to get on that commercial as a tigers version.
October 3rd, 2011 at 10:36 PM ^
I have a mancrush on Justin Verlander. True story. Not ashamed to admit it.
October 3rd, 2011 at 10:36 PM ^

October 3rd, 2011 at 10:36 PM ^

October 3rd, 2011 at 10:42 PM ^
With a hammer like that, we may as well call him Thor.
October 3rd, 2011 at 10:39 PM ^
GO KELLY.
CC was way off to the right side of the mound. Surprised he even bothered throwing that.
October 3rd, 2011 at 10:40 PM ^
Love the bunt, and now the speed pays off. Love it!
October 3rd, 2011 at 10:41 PM ^
Peralta. What a great pick-up by Dombo.
Also, Kelly made me eat crow.
October 3rd, 2011 at 10:40 PM ^
4-2, Good Guys
October 3rd, 2011 at 10:42 PM ^

Haven't felt this way since 2006.
October 3rd, 2011 at 10:44 PM ^

October 3rd, 2011 at 10:44 PM ^

October 3rd, 2011 at 10:45 PM ^
But still. A damn big guy.
October 3rd, 2011 at 10:45 PM ^
See Ya, CC.
October 3rd, 2011 at 10:50 PM ^
but we have left A LOT of runs out there.
Hope it does not haunt us before its over.
October 3rd, 2011 at 10:54 PM ^
JV is 24-0 when the Tigers score 3 or more runs (or so I heard on M&M this morning).
October 3rd, 2011 at 10:54 PM ^
are just a bloop and a blast from a new game.
October 3rd, 2011 at 10:55 PM ^
Watching Verlander strike fools out is way more fun than watching ordinary human beings strike people out. He's got a little something extra on everything.
October 3rd, 2011 at 10:56 PM ^
Delmon Young is Cherokee for Choppy Steps
October 3rd, 2011 at 11:00 PM ^
I sometimes run towards my bathroom like that after I eat too much Thai food...
October 3rd, 2011 at 10:56 PM ^
Verlander. The Yanks are totally befuddled by him right now.
October 3rd, 2011 at 11:01 PM ^
hes mid 90 pitches...he'll go 120 in the playoffs. Jim isn't stupid (despite my questioning of that throughout the year)
October 3rd, 2011 at 11:05 PM ^
Lets just get out of this inning here, hasnt been a great one
October 3rd, 2011 at 11:05 PM ^
2 quick out and then a walk and a hit batter. Come on Verlander get this game over with!
October 3rd, 2011 at 11:06 PM ^
