Martavious Odoms wearing a cast
Michigan senior wide receiver Martavious Odoms was seen practicing Tuesday with a cast on his left forearm.
Odoms, a projected starter at wideout who also returns kicks, was seen with a large, white cast, although he still was running sets with what appeared to be the first offense.
There has been no word on the specifics of Odoms’ injury, although coach Brady Hoke said Monday his team was “pretty doggone healthy” entering camp.
Hopefully theres not an issue here
Time to burn his redshirt?
/s
Actually laughed out loud. NIce.
...burn the cast?
It's ok. I don't think a cast will inhibit pass-catching ability. Just ask Tim Massaquoi.
Even if it is a hair line fracture, that cast is off and he will be playing in the opener. Otherwise you wouldn't see him running with the first team.
Nooo!!
I really hope he's healthy this year. He's been a favorite player of mine over the last few years - mostly because of his tough as nails blocking. That and he's more likely to be run out of bounds than be brought down.
Good luck and a quick recovery to Tay..
He'll be using it as a club to provide further seperation.
"Tight end Kevin Koger also was with the group, and Mike Martin and Vincent Smith alternated taking handoffs from Robinson."
Must've been Shaw
Or Cox
Would be awesome.
We are handing off to Mike Martin .... thats MANBALL !!
that qualifies as just plain senseless violence.
The ball would explode in his arms before he even reaches the line of scrimmage.
Please let this happen.

I don't see it happening now.
Especially considering how it turned out in '95.

It was '96. We lost that one.
...to "Michael Shaw and Vincent Smith..."
Sounds like DA BEARS and their usage of "The Fridge." MANBALL
I saw this earlier today and saw a source that said it wasn't a huge deal and he'd be back for the first game. I'll try and find the source...
Hopefully its a mild sprain they're being extra careful with...
Unless we're running 3-wide sets, I don't think Odoms is a starter. And it sounds like a lot of our offense will be TE, FB, TB, meaning only 2 WRs. And those two should be Roundtree and Hemingway.
and I would expect that trend to continue, at least until we get better depth at TE and FB.
Eh, if he's running with the one's I get the feeling the coaches think he'll be back soon.
That article said Mike MARTIN and Vincent Smith were alternating carries with the first team offense. I'm thinking they meant Mike Cox, or else they are taking the power play to the extreme!
Our new Wes Welker...IMO he'll have a big impact like Odoms did his first year, then Roundtree did after that. Wouldn't be shocked to see him a started with Hemingway and Roundtree by the 3-4th game.
I remember a certain coach employing Quinton Washington and Will Cambell in the goalline situations. This would would not be too crazy, except for the fact that I have never heard anything about him carrying the rock ever. He did look good running the interception of D Rob back for a TD. It is sort of a reach though. He will have his hands full on D to be worried about the Offense. We have a couple people that should be able to handle that.
Even when Q and BWC were in the backfield, it was only to block, not to take a hand off.

(cries uncontrollably)
but since he's in full gear is it safe to say that it's probably not that serious? it would appear he's practicing like normal

You are correct, this is what the caption read:
First-year University of Michigan football coach Brady Hoke extends his fist in celebratory greeting to senior receiver Martavious Odoms after Odoms ran a good route despite a large cast on his left forearm. The Wolverines started their second fall football practice outdoors, before thunder and the threat of rain forced them inside Al Glick Fieldhouse in Ann Arbor on Tuesday, August 9, 2011.
That's normal time for a cast. Wonder when it was put on?

I saw Odoms on campus about 2 and a 1/2 weeks ago, and he had the cast on then, so at least that long. He was also wearing a sling at the time. Glad to see he should be alright for the beginning of the season.
