Tressel Resigns per Columbus Dispatch
The Columbus Dispatch is reporting that Jim Tressel has resigned.
I would have loved to see him stick around long enough for us to whoop them(however far down the road that may be) but none the less, pretty wild way to wake up on my first morning back in America.
How you doing Brionte Dunn ? nice day out today huh ?
r helmetz have wings lol
Dispatch is also reporting that Luke Fickell will be the head coach this year.
Wikipedia has already been updated. Awesome.
can go to tOSU and Sparty can lose their beloved savior, and then we can beat Dantonio down South and regain dominance over MSU. Sounds like a plan to me.
What a sweet scenario.
Things have lined up pretty nicely for good ole Brady Hoke. Tremendous!
Let the bells ring! It's too bad that Tressel couldn't stay to face the misery that is going to be inflicted on tOSU. But what a messy transition is ahead of them! I don't see how this protects them from getting hammered by the NCAA, so the potential for organizational collapse is high. I just hope people realize how much they cheated in order to achieve the great ten year run of JT.
Calling Mark Dantonio and his jail house of horrors. Time to go home to Ohio.
Wonder how the Tatgate 5 will feel, seeing as how Tressel arm-twisted them into not going pro after their suspensions were handed out.
Is it too late for them to apply for the supplemental draft?
Considering they just got their coach to "resign"....
Ding Dong Tressel is dead!!!
Try to take away from Memorial Day rememberance....
To remember bad guys as well as great men.
And in other news, bookstores have started immediately remaindering the sanctimonious book that he wrote -- which ought to be retitled "The Hypocrites Manual"
Cannot wait for the presser on this...
I've been wondering what sales have looked like lately. The [literate] population of Columbus can only buy so many books, is anyone else buying?
Maybe they have a special coloring book edition for the majority of "Buckeye Nation."
"On page six, color in the 'pretty' tattoos/"
"On page seven, color in the faulty compliance form."
"On page eight we have a death threat to Herbie that you can color."
What are the odds that MD will leave little brother for TSIO? Or who are the other possbile coaching candidates? While I wouldn't doubt Urban Meyer's interest without the tatgate scandal, I can't imagine him wanting to jump into this situation.
I only hope the NCAA keeps digging and finds ALL the BS that's been going on at TSIO for the past decade. Then the hammer should come down if all that is alleged is true.
POSBANG!!!!!!1 Wow. Burn to the ground, Buckeyes.
I wish I had something for this moment, but I don't, so WOOO. I wanted us to beat Tressel this year, but I'll take an even more monster recruiting class than we currently have and will enjoy future beatdowns of whatever super-squeaky clean coach they're forced to hire.
Tomorrows SI article is going to be a doosy.
they take Calipari as their next coach?
This news deserves a wake and bake
Legacy and the wall he built around Ohio, built by questionable measures. Tear it all down, please.
Have a Go Blue Memorial Day, everybody!!!
Am I reading this right? No, It's not April 1st. Makes me wonder what they were afraid of in the upcoming SI article.
Did the swimsuit edition
Will not go to OSU! Why would he? They're probably looking at a 4 year bowl ban, with who knows how many reduced scholarships.
Michigan beats OSU again.
This moment for Carr will stay with him until his deathbed:
And this stank will cling to Tressel no matter where he goes:
Both coaches earned their departure. Both will continue to reap the rewards they are due.
So I guess this is where OSU fans will tell us, "Don't get too excited. Urban Meyer is on his way to Columbus."
I've already heard it 3 times this morning.
100% agree. Please, please, please media don't stop. I guarantee Thad is not a recruiting genius. He's also getting help from boosters.
Said all along he'd coached his last game at OSU.
And for those of you disappointed because we didn't get the chance to beat him around a little bit on the field....just remember, 1, you get no extra points for beating Tressel any more than you get for beating anyone in scarlet and gray. And 2, Tressel is a cheater who we now know tilted the playing field. There's no real satisfaction in beating a dishonest opponent. The satisfaction is seeing him in the state of disgrace he deserves.
St. Tress is honorable for falling on the sword. What a load of shit! The gangsta has been busted! 9-1 with an **************.
The rats.
See ya, cheater.
Same with Pete Carroll, and that Dick Nixon guy.
Wow! I wake up, make breakfast, and turn on the TV and this is all over ESPN. I'm thinking the stuff coming out tomorrow must be pretty bad so he saw the writing on the wall and wanted to get out with a few shreds of honor.
I think the SI piece is going to be very telling. I can't wait to read it.
Fickell for 2011-12 so the coaching search doesn't start until the next offseason.
is Einhorn.....Einhorn is Fickell!!! They may have to get rid of him too. When the taint in Columbus proves to be systemic as tomorrows article and history shows they'll need a clean break. Who's got money on them offering Dantonio? If I were MD I would stay in Lansing but I'd bet they consider him.
Assuming Tressel was cheating all along, then Dantonio had a front row seat which might taint his candidacy. If you're riding shotgun during a robbery get-away, it doesn't matter if you only thought you were going to the Dairy Queen.
Damn. Not gonna lie, I was looking forward to beating his ass this season
The best thing to happen to Michigan the last 3 years was Pryor NOT coming here and going to OSU. He did what all the shady players who came before couldn't- he exposed OSU and brought down Tressel.

I'm going to say it's a sign that CBS Sports Net is replaying the San Diego State-Air Force game right now...
If it comes out that OSU had serious recruiting advantages under Tressel I'm going to be furious. Lloyd probably should've had a shot at a second national title in 2006.
