Moved to Boston from Chicago three years ago and it's the one thing I miss.

Survived my 6 year old's birthday with 20 of his classmates. Celebrating that.

Illinois

Could see the Illini making a move on Narduzzi.

What makes you think he is

What makes you think he is "incredibly raw as a receiver" or "super raw"?  Maybe I'm not a good judge, but he didn't look raw in his film.  He looks like he catches the ball with his hands, runs decent routes and high points the ball reasonably well.

Purdue

Didn't we run this play with Fitz against Purdue last year?

My only point was that you

My only point was that you can't make statements about the quality of his competition from a 13 minute highlight film unless you've take a better look at his opponents.  If you (and Magnus) are reaching the conclusion that his competition is poor because his opponents didn't have future BCS signees lined up against him every week, then that's one way to look at it.  But if you have some of the best teams in the state of Illinois, with good coaches and with above average players, gearing up to stop the guy (if you know JCA, they rarely pass the ball) and he is still torching them for 200+ yds week in and week out, the guy is talented.

He dropped 515 yds and 6 TDs

He dropped 515 yds and 6 TDs on Montini (6th ranked team in the state) in the state title game.   He also went for 218 yds and 3 TDs (one of which came on a 75 yd catch and run with 30 seconds left to win it) against Carmel (at the time, the 3rd ranked team in the state).

With his kind of production, it'd be a pretty long film for them to show us the 5-6 yd gains against some of these teams.

Competition

Magnus - I usually find myself agreeing with your scouting reports, but I have to call you out on your statement that his level of competition being "poor".  What do you know about Chicago area football?  JCA plays in the East Suburban Catholic Conference, which those on this board from Chicago know is part of the Chicago Catholic League and one of the best football conferences in the Chicago area (Joliet Catholic and Carmel are two of the best teams in the state almost every year). They play Carmel, Marist and Nazareth (each of whom was ranked in the top 25 teams in the state (for any division) at some point last year), as well as Mount Carmel (another top-ranked, great Chicago program - Donovan McNabb, Simeon Rice), every year.  To do what he has done against this level of competition is unprecedented (the championship game against Montini - another excellent Chicago-area program - is a perfect example).  This kid has proven he can do it against the best that Illinois high school football has to offer.

Isaac

Responding to a comment Woodson made below questioning the level of Isaac's competition, Isaac plays in the East Suburban Catholic Conference, which those on this board from Chicago know is one of the best football conferences in the Chicago area (Joliet Catholic and Carmel are two of the best teams in the state almost every year). They also play Mount Carmel (another great Chicago program - Donovan McNabb, Simeon Rice) every year.  To do what he has done against this level of competition is unprecedented (the championship game against Montini - another excellent program - is a perfect example).  This kid has proven he can do it against the best that Illinois high school football has to offer.

Got hit by this

For the not tech-savvy, can someone walk me through how to fix this?  Would really appreciate it.

Didn't Morris take home the

Didn't Morris take home the offensive MVP award?

First one to leave a sinking ship?

The rats.

See ya, cheater.

Wilson

They also lose Martez Wilson, who was all over the field for them last year.  They didn't show much of a defense against us last year, and losing Wilson and Liuget won't help things.

Bobby Bowden

"Dang gum it..."

Hart

At this point, I've almost stopped caring about whether Harbaugh or Rodriguez is the coach next year.  All I care about is that, whoever the coach is, he be on Dee Hart's doorstep on January 4th.

Brandon Graham and Lamar

Brandon Graham and Lamar Woodley would like a word, AZ.

Guys like Tamba Hali, Maurice Evans and Aaron Maybin aren't exactly tearing it up.

With all due respect, his Dudeness...

I believe this will be our finest hour.

May my wife never see that

May my wife never see that hit if I want my son to be able to play football when he grows up.  Wow.

Holy crap - if Shaw doesn't

Holy crap - if Shaw doesn't take the time to stand there and dance on that carry and just picks that hole that opened up in front of him, he's the one walking into the endzone.

The Braylon Show.

I was

The Braylon Show.

I was having dinner at a restaurant with my girlfriend (now wife)'s parents for the first time and excused myself to use the restroom.  My future father-in-law found me at the bar an hour later watching the second overtime.  He just nodded his head in understanding as Braylon tore out little brother's heart.

Mixed feelings...

Sure, would prefer we not to lose a top recruit at a position of need.  That said, if he's showing up out of shape, doesn't want to put in the work and can't beat out the current starters (whoever they may be), I don't know how much we're losing here.  Without a work ethic and/or a desire to compete, not sure he would be a world beater for us anyway.

Makes sense.  He clearly

Makes sense.  He clearly hasn't missed many lunches.

Would be a bitch to remove

Would be a bitch to remove that tattoo.

Seriously doubt there is any truth to the rumor. Need to stop looking at OSU/MSU message boards.

Good

Looking forward to seeing him go 2-2 against Michigan.

Holy crap - our LBs have

Holy crap - our LBs have gained some lbs.  Mouton - 240?  Bell - 245?  Demens - 250?  Obi - 250?

Though I'm not yet ready to

Though I'm not yet ready to anoint Denard the second coming of Pat White, I can't help but watch that video and think of what could be this year.  Denard is significantly faster than Pat (a couple of Pat's other highlight videos show him getting caught from behind a few times) and has a stronger arm (though possibly a bit less accurate).  If he comes anywhere close to Pat's ability to run this offense, look out.

Better yet, take the damn

Better yet, take the damn battery out of the cell phone.  Someone's phone went off during my exam as well and, after a moment of panic due to having the same ring tone, I started breathing again knowing that while my cell was in the front of the room, it's battery was in my pocket in the back of the room.

A question

While I agree that this is boneheaded move by Stonum, how did the FreeP get ahold of this?  Do they have someone in the court clerk's office on the payroll, tipping them off on anything related to Michigan football?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I was under the impression that these instances (probation violations, jail sentences) aren't readily available to the public and that you'd actually have to do a fair amount of digging (e.g., requesting court records) to find something like this out.  If that's indeed the case, it further relegates the FreeP to the ranks of the tabloid newsrags.

I don't think Leach cracked

I don't think Leach cracked the line-up last year because of bonus speed.  He started in Ezeh's spot because Ezeh wasn't making plays.  Mouton was still out there and I have to think Mouton, despite poor play at times last year, would be a better option than Leach at that spot - he has better blitzing abilities (one of the primary responsibilities for this spot) and he is faster than Leach.

Did you really mean to type

Did you really mean to type "Leach" at LB?  Something happen to Mouton that people aren't aware of yet?

With all due respect to

With all due respect to UConn, I actually don't think this game will be as close as some believe.  A run-first spread offense with a good O-line and a QB with speed to burn against an undersized D-line and quality (for the Big East) linebackers?  Even if we're not moving the ball on the ground, I'll still take either one of our QBs and our receivers against that secondary.

On defense, the lines sound like they will match up fairly evenly, but our defense will consistently have 8 men in the box.  If the new scheme truly does simplify the reads for Ezeh and Mouton, we should be fairly good against the run.  I'll admit our secondary is still a bit questionable, but UConn isn't sporting a fleet of ND-quality receivers.

Combine that with it being at the Big House and the inspiration of seeing Brock Mealer lead the team out, I think we win this game by a comfortable margin.

Don't know about you guys,

Don't know about you guys, but I'm sick of people worrying about this kid ending up at OSU.  Makes us sound like a bunch of p*ssies.

If he ends up at OSU, so be it.  We'll still go in there and hit 'em in the mouth.

Wouldn't be the first time they had a star tackle (see Pace, Orlando) and got their ass handed to them by us (3-1 against them during Pace's time).

Respectfully disagree - with

Respectfully disagree - with a high likelihood that C. Jones ends up playing a different position, we need a QB in this class to maintain depth.

While we certainly need O-linemen, the need for LBs isn't as critical.  2-3 LBs in this class would be plenty (we just signed 4-5 in the last class).

I'm with ya.  I'm a first

I'm with ya.  I'm a first time father as well, to a 1-year old who goes to sleep with a Michigan football and constantly makes me beam with pride when he yells out "Go Blue".  Hearing a story about Rodriguez showing support for a young father on what was likely the most heart-wrenching moment of his life makes me proud to be Wolverine and proud that he's our coach.

Whether or not it's him, it's

Whether or not it's him, it's still poor form to post things like that (even if it's "clear" to you that it is him).  Last I checked, we don't go out of our way to bash our own commits.

Also, posting links to stories like that in discussions about recruits only increases the chances people like Sharp pick up on it.  You think he doesn't read this blog?

Well, today has been anything

Well, today has been anything but boring.

I'm relieved we have OSU

I'm relieved we have OSU alums like these out there.  The world needs ditch diggers.

I admit that Denard is not

I admit that Denard is not quite at Pat White's level just yet, but I don't expect to see Denard getting caught from behind very often.  Scary to think what he'll be able to if he makes correct reads and gets a few blocks.

Since you have no idea

Since you have no idea whether this is Shawn, did you really think it was a good idea to post a link to this article in a discussion about Shawn?  Poor form.

To hell with Notre Dame.

To hell with Notre Dame.

I'm looking forward to

I'm looking forward to watching Kenny Demens bury him into the turf and showing him who is actually Country Day's finest.

I like our chances.

I mean no disrespect to UConn when I say this, but I think we win this game big. Here's why:

- Rodriguez will have most/all of his playbook installed and at the ready.

- Denard/Tate will stretch the field against a mediocre defense and a (very) young secondary.

- Solid offensive and defensive line play.

- Our secondary coming out with something to prove.

Sprinkle that with the inspiration of seeing Brock Mealer leading the team out on the field.

Going to be a great day to be a Wolverine.

Piece of shit MSU fans

Was playing poker tonight with a couple MSU grads when one of them started mouthing off about Dorsey being a criminal and RichRod needing to troll the ghetto for criminals in order to win games. Over the table I went. Sonofabitch - no one questions the integrity of Mich, least of all some MSU d-bag.

I don't necessarily think we

I don't necessarily think we "lost" a player to Rutgers. Rutgers offered him something we couldn't/wouldn't: a shot at a starting spot with little/no competition. I don't blame him for taking the easier road and certainly wish him the best of luck, but if he didn't want to compete against better athletes every day and have to work for his starting spot, I'm not all broken up that we didn't get him.

All that aside, he's a quality player and I wish he were donning a winged helmet in the fall.

I'd think you're a cinematic

I'd think you're a cinematic idiot and I'd feel sorry for you.
