OT: Good Comedies
I just finished rewatching the movie "What About Bob?'. I forgot how good of a comedy that was.
I need more suggestions for comedies. Good ones. I want to roll out of my Lazy Boy and wretch my stomach muscles.
We are entertaining a group of about 12 and have headlined the party as "A night of Comedy". We have loaded the bongs and prepared REALLY good food.
We need IDEAS for good DVD Comedy and we need this from the likes of MgoBlog. So, please rummage thru your wonderful brains and come up with a comedy or 2.
Thank you for your consideration. Blessings!
I
Oh also Get Him to the Greek and Malibus Most Wanted.
Stripes is a MUST on this list. Bill Murray at the top of his game.
Any movie watching comedy -fest also requires monty python.
Holy shit, that looks awesome. Is it out yet? Did it come out and I missed it? I must watch this movie. I will do some investigating. Danny McBride, playing a similar type of character to Kenny Powers, it seems. FTW.
Came out before East Bound and Down if I'm not mistaken. It is hilarious
some others:
The Princess Bride
Anchorman
National Lampoon (Chevy Chase versions)
Raising Arizona
Fargo
Spies Like Us.
Srsly, you have to show that one. Just for the Bob hope scene.
Glad I'm not sick.
Dumb and Dumber of course!
Freddy Got Fingered
Sex Drive
Another stoner movie would be Pineapple Express, besides that all of the other choices have been good.
Kingpin is a classic, hadn't seen it mentioned yet.
I also enjoyed zombieland.
Umm...oh yea, "theres something about mary" is a good one also, with a young Cameron Diaz in it.
Oh and duh, Pulp fiction.
life, step brothers, old school
Friday.
Zoolander.
The bowling flick with Woody Harrelson and Randy Quaid.
Rat Race except for the last bit - and especially all the Jon Lovitz stuff.
Best In Show and anything really by Guest - even his commercials are funny.
Eddie Murphy in Nutty Professor part 1 - all roles.
Bernie Mac standup (OK not a movie).
Tattoogate: 5-star hilarity, hope it never ends.
EDIT: Doh! MichFaithful beats me to Kingpin by a nose!
Dumb & Dumber
Billy Madison
Happy Gilmore
Tommy Boy
Something About Mary
Forgetting Sarah Marshall
Stepbrothers
The Naked Gun

But then who doesn't love singing vampire Muppets?
as are:
The Ref, with Dennis Leary and Kevin Spacey
The Blackadder series with Rowan Atkinson and Hugh Laurie
Team America
MST/Space Mutiny
The Hangover is absolutely hysterical, IMO. Old School and Dodgeball are also very funny.
Dumb and Dumber, Airplane! and The Big Lebowski. Not mentioned about are Dr Strangelove and Duck Soup, two great black and white comedies that are hilarious, though probably not the best comedies to watch while high.
Maybe funniest movie I've seen though in the so bad it's funny: Plan 9 from Outer Space. Brilliant stuff there
Fanboys, the family guy star wars parodies, star wars robot chicken.
The Naked Gun: Nice Beaver! Thanks, I just had it stuffed
Airplane!: Surely you must be joking. I'm not, and don't call me Shirley.
The Big Lebowski: Shut the f*** up, Donny.
Strange Brew: This movie was shot in 3B - three beers - and it looks good, eh?
Grosse Pointe Blank: I'm a professional killer. Do you have to do postgraduate work for that?
Also one of my all-time favorites. Alan Arkin was great in it, and it also actually has one of the better fight scenes you'll see.
The Big Lebowski should be on your list.
Edit. Fail, there was a second page.
Roy: Hey, I hope you don't mind, I got up a little early, so I took the liberty of milking your cow for you. Yeah, it took a little while to get her warmed up, she sure is a stubborn one, whew.
[Takes a drink from the bucket]
Mr. Boorg: We don't have a cow. We have a bull.
Roy: I'm gonna brush my teeth
I haven't seen Beerfest in here anywhere.
Easily Hangover. It's one of the best comedies of the last decade. So is Team America,
Borat, Tropic Thunder, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Role Models, Elf, and Superbad are among my current favorite comedies. I also love Wedding Crashers, Dodgeball, I Love You Man, Knocked Up, Beerfest, Harold & Kumar.
I'd like to second this.
I pretty much just think Paul Rudd is hillarious when he plays 'I dont give a shit' roles like this movie and Knocked Up. Don't like him as much in I Love You Man
bad santa, step brothers and grandma's boy
Just watched it recently for the first time in years. It is often overlooked but a great.
With Bobcat Goldwaith
Super Troopers
"I'm freaking out man!"
"The snozz berries taste like snozz berries! "

Do the chickens have large talons?

The original, not the sequel. Why do sequels almost always suck? Star Trek II is one obvious exception.

This is Spinal Tap, and of course, Airplane.

Step Brothers. Totally underrated, insanely awesome.

Grumpy Old Men
Zombieland

Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, History of the World Part 1....
Absolutely, and if there is "herb" offered at this party, the "chase scene" in the chariots (or - more particularly - the manner in which our heroes make their escape) will be particularly funny.

Blazing Saddles, Zoolander, and (of course) Airplane.

You guys mentioned What About Bob...And Zombieland...and no one even thought to mention Ghostbusters?
BTW...You have to be a little twisted, but Bad Santa caused significant rib pain for a week.

Caddyshack, Airplane!, Vacation, Stakeout, Something about Mary, A Fish Called Wanda, Stripes, Clerks.
All classic comedies. The pinnacle of comedy was in the late 1970's through 1990's.
For later comedies, you gotta go with Analyze This, Zoolander, Anchorman or Semi-Pro.
Great thread.

The Jerk is possibly the best movie you can get if you are stoned... It is classic, and you probably havent seen it in a while, or ever, but you will laugh, and laugh, and laugh.
I like The Other Guys too, was pretty good. The Hangover is great, but Ive seen it about 400 times.
Quite possibly the funniest movie I ever saw stoned, and a first time viewing, was Superbad. That shit had me crying. Thats also in The Hangover category, seen about 400 times.
Happy Gilmore and Billy Madison are great. Super Troopers and Beer Fest are awesome, made by the same people. Step Brothers is way under rated, as someone already said, but great to watch while stoned.
I guess if I had to pick one movie, while baked, it would have to be The Jerk.

Not one that really jumps out at you, but I never get sick of watching Groundhog Day. Classic Bill Murray.

I never get tired of Tommy Boy or Billy Madison. Chris Farley kills me!

You really cant go wrong with any of these suggestions. Mgobloggers seem to have some good taste in Movies. I'm surprised no one has mentioned this one yet though, or maybe I missed it, but if your going to get stoned and watch comedies you have to include Grandma's Boy. It is one of my favorite comedies of all time and goes perfectly with some nice buds.

Monty Python and the Life of Brian. A peasant named Brian is born in the manger next to Jesus Christ's, and is briefly mistaken for the Savior of Mankind. From this extraordinary opening scene, the movie lampoons Western culture, religion, and thought for 93 minutes of hilarity.
