Best of luck to him.

So next year’s main TE reps will be from McKeon and Eubanks, with Muhammad taking Eubanks’ currently role odds are.

Gentry will be a "Mel Kiper Special!"  Going to test very well at combine, going to hear all the expected "size and speed", "catch ratio"  "prototype" and "match up problem" analogies.  Will discuss lack of production on QB issues.  Going to hear comparisons to Gronk, but far from that!  Somebody will get excited early and make him a day 2 pick.

Good luck to him. I think this is one of those ones that feels right for him (he will test out of this world at the combine) and overall not a detriment to Michigan based on the current roster.

Thanks for playing the bowl game young man and giving the team your all.

Remember when all Michigan fans thought you’d get a couple of trick plays where Gentry threw it?

Think about that when you pencil all these incoming freshman as starters for next year

He is a senior academically.  Assume he has degree.  Obviously received a good NFL grade.  Knows how much $$ J Butt lost being injured.

Best wishes.

Good look for UM.  Took a kid from New Mexico, put him at his best position, & he’ll be a top 64 draft pick.  Good story for recruits.

This is a good opportunity to only play 1 TE at a time. McKeon and Eubanks can split snaps 50/50, but Michigan needs 3 WR sets as much as possible next year, probably even 4 WR sets 15-20% of the time.

I just don't see it.  NFL TE need to be elite blockers and sure-handed.  Blocking by TE doesn't seem that crucial, but the NFL coaches sure do love it.  He has enough athleticism to be a late round pick and camp cut, I would guess.  In a case like this I would love to be wrong.  Hopefully he makes a team and has a good career at the expense of an OSU player.

Puzzling, he looked last year to maybe be on this trajectory but he hadn’t nearly developed as I’d hoped this year. That said I wish him the absolute best. He’s a great athlete and I really respect how he transitioned to TE without any complaints.

Gentry has been a favorite player of mine.  He had some great plays here and there and had tons of potential.  His drops this year were really disappointing, but I'm not so disappointed in Gentry as in the fact that we didn't really use him to his full ability.   With DPJ, NC, TB, etc. at receiver and Gentry/Eubanks/McKeon at TE, we should have had a killer passing game.   Higdon was decent, but he wasn't the strength of the team.   I admittedly don't know the long game that Harbaugh is playing with all of his body blows, but in the end, he isn't getting a knock out punch against good teams.  I miss the big Bo/Mo bombs to AC, Desmond, Derrick Alexander, etc.

Gentry should have had a jump ball or two a game on top of his other targets.

Well, good luck to him.  Must be a lean year for TE's in the draft so he can make some hay?  IMHO he is not ready, still developing some hands, and, it is much tougher to catch the ball in the NFL.  The switch to TE was a smart decision, and, he has great size and measurable.

No reason for him to stay. The best players all left and he got his sheepskin. And after the last 2 games what did he have to look forward to?

I wish him well.

Seems like a mid to late round prospect as he isn't much of a blocker and was pretty inconsistent catching the ball.  I don't know if another year changes that.  He is tall with surprising speed for his height, so he should be drafted.  I just wouldn't expect that to happen before the 4th or 5th round, best case.

Congrats to the 6'7'' former QB! I think he will do very well in the NFL as a huge receiving threat. A lot will depend on how much he will have to block. Not much to gain by coming back an extra year to not get thrown to.

Harbaughs first QB commit is gonna be drafted as a TE in the NFL.  The work Gentry put in to change his body, and learn an entirely new position had to be immensely difficult.  I understand his decision to go pro as our offense doesn't utilize him properly.  Best of luck!!!

I think he could have really improved his draft stock with another year, but best of luck to him!

He came in and busted his ass, can't wait to watch him play on Sundays next year.

Good luck sir. Appreciate your contributions but I think this is a net positive for both parties.

Michigan can/should use more multiple WR sets next year with VERY dangerous weapons and he gets to go to the league and make the most of his talents.

Turns out that having a WR at TE is fun when you play small and bad teams but when you really need weapons on the field it's better to have players that are specialized in what we're asking them to do and not "jack of all trades" types.

Got his degree, stock probably wouldn't get better with another year; the reason this is an easy loss for the team to take is the same reason his stock wouldn't get better: the tight end position is absurdly deep. And we really ought to be using all three of DPJ, Collins and Black at the same time a lot next year if we're trying to play our best players, meaning less of the 2-TE sets and a lot more 11 personnel.

I still want to see the reporter from his home. He stated it was a mistake to move him to tight end because he was such a great qb. He suggested he transfer out. I guess Jim knows his talent.
