Wolverines Are 5th Most Popular Bet at Vegas Superbook to Win the National Championship

Interesting.  It might be because UM has such bad odds (and Harbaugh of course). Alternatively, we might just have a huge delusional alumni base.  The Wolverines have also received the 5th most overall bets placed at Westgate Las Vegas SuperBook.

I'm sure Vegas is thrilled to be getting all that action on Michigan.  I understand it's possible that Michigan could win it all, but it is extremely unlikely.  I will not be making that bet.

I think only PSU has more living alumni than us.  Plus people know what Harbaugh has done in previous stops.  If we win the B1G this year that means wins over likely top 10 teams, maybe top 5 teams in OSU and MSU.  It's not crazy if we have good QB play.

Yeah, but what's our track record as a road dog with a new coaching staff with a squad coming off a sub-.500 season?  I'm actually pretty optimistic about our chances overall this season, but if we're going to have a disappointing effort this season, it will be this game.

Their 12-1 season was clearly the outlier much like our 11-2 year in 2011. Stars allign, lightning in bottle, etc.

They've lost at least 4 games every other season under Brian Kelly, three of which were 5 loss seasons.

We sucked during that same time, I know but they are delusional. Their schedule is tough this year, if they only lose once they deserve to be in the playoffs but it ain't happening.

And don't look remotely poised to compete for a title this year. Bets aren't about what happened two years ago. Alabama could go 7-5 one year and everyone can look at the roster and see a team that can win it all. Nobody would logically say that about UM or ND right now. That's the point.

The OP asked a question about fan base delusion possibly being a reason for Michigan being a popular National Title pick. I cited ND being even more popular a pick than Michigan. Also consider that ND has much better odds to win it than Michigan with an absolutely brutal schedule. I think citing ND fans as delusional is right on the money in this case. FYI I do think Michigan will be relevant and contending for a National Championship before the next time ND does.
