Will M Fans return to The Big House

Submitted by Amaznbluedoc on November 14th, 2020 at 11:49 PM

Given the trajectory of this team combined with the effects of Covid, assuming that the vaccine proves effective and fans are allowed back in the stands for 2021, what is the probability that will 100+k fans return?

I’ve been a season ticket holder for 10 years, and this is the first time I’ve ever thought about not renewing.  I renewed all during Hoke without a second thought.

If Harbaugh is back, I will likely not renew

I’ve been a Michigan fan since forever (and an alumnus who donates money), and I’m not sure I’m up for watching any more games this season.  Hard to say about next season, but my inclination is to spend Saturdays with my family and revisit Michigan football in a few years.  So that’s perhaps a partial answer to your question.

My dad has had season tickets for 47 years.. he will renew like he always has, but I doubt I'll be going unless major changes happen.

We have a lot of young players, they are just horribly coached

We are about to enter a very dark phase of the pandemic. Even 50% capacity on football stadiums Fall 2021 seems like a stretch right now regardless of the trajectory of the team.

The university has $240 of mine for PSC that I regret not getting a refund back on.  I will likely let them keep it rather than renew unless something drastic changes.

I live in Columbus but go to at least one game a year. I told my buddy (while watching the game with this osu fan) I won’t be going to any game under harbaugh regime. This season has been an utter failure

This has always been my biggest fear. The solid unshakable fan based gets shook. I remember an article from RR years how attendance remained strong even when the product on the field was challenged. Back then there was always hope. Doesn’t feel like we have much of that anymore and I think fans are starting to understand we are much more like Tennessee vs Bama. WM is going to face a huge decision that will have major long term financial ripples on the entire athletic department if he gets it wrong.

Returning to sporting events in general seems challenging, with or without a better product on the field. It's hard to get kids enthusiastic. Less expensive to set up a media room with a nice television.

Throw in this mediocre effort from the team, added uncertainty for college sports due to the increasing need to treat players as professional athletes, declining interest overall in sports.

Then add discomfort in assembling as a crowd until we have an effective vaccine and trust it. I haven't even dined out since February and don't even feel comfortable with take-out anymore.

No, I think the days of 100k in the stands are over. I hope I'm wrong.

We'll renew as always (longtime multi-generational seats do that), but the family tradition, tailgating, etc. will be the only thing to thank for that at the moment.

It sucks that this is the circumstances under which I open my student ticket account, which means that I'll probs be giving more money to the dept than I ever have up until now...I want hockey tix!

This AD won't get a single extra $ from us though, that's for sure.

I'd be good with this, especially if they decided to convert the benches to seats. Dollar for dollar you can't beat Michigan stadium for most uncomfortable place to watch a football game.

I decided to stop buying football tickets after the 2018 season. At least until Harbaugh is gone. It allows my family to take more road trips from Indy to Ann Arbor during basketball season. Hotels don't even bend you over a barrel with no Vaseline during bball season. We can get 3-4 Ann Arbor basketball weekends for the price of one football weekend.

Spend your money on basketball. It's a better sport and a better investment.

I’m 30/70 on renewing—it just isn’t fun watching a team go in the wrong direction.  If there’s a new coach, I probably renew another year or two and see how it goes.

I don’t need the team to be conference champs every year (heck, it’s been 16 years). But I’m not shelling out that kind of money and time to watch utterly crappy football.

I'm disappointed I let my money roll over for the 2021 season.  At this rate im not sure I want to go in 2021 especially if Harbaugh still coaching. Hopeful he has enough of a conscience that he steps away and doesn't force a buy out.  He has not lived up to his expectations and promises.
