Today's Schedule of Games

GO CATS!!

But if a Northwestern victory can't be in the cards, then I want absolute CHAOS:

Alabama loses in OT on a bad call . . . OU and OSU win with style . . . UCF wins by 100 . . . then let them all rip each other's eyes out for that last slot and blow the whole F-ing thing up.

The committee and the media show their SEC bias and pick Alabama.  Of the five P5 conferences, only two are represented in the entire College Football Playoff.

Thermonuclear chaos ensues.  We use the warmth of the afterglow to heat our popcorn as we watch the carnage.  Jim Delaney bites the head off a live committee member on national TV.

Text exchange with my girlfriend:

Gf: what time is the UM football game on Saturday?

Me: no Michigan game :'( but there are couple other games I want to catch

Gf: what time? Can we do something that's actually fun at some point?

Me: sure, what did you have in mind?

Gf: idk

Me: well, I'm down for anything you like

Gf: can you find us a new restaurant to try?

And this, friends, is how I am going to miss the B1G Championship Game

!!! YES!!! The next best thing to all hell breaking loose and Michigan miraculously ending up in the playoff is for OSU to win big and get in...and Michigan's consolation prize is the Rose Bowl.

I know many of the pathological partisans are in contemplation at the edge of the cliff but if Michigan ends up 11-2, with the losses being to teams who made the final four...the season has to be considered better than simply "good".

I am on an education mission this morning...and it continues:

Well, then that simply makes you one of "them". I root for Michigan because I believe the university at large rises above such silly provincialism. You guys can neg away to your little hearts content on this...but here, you are in the wrong.

Consider it an investment.

If OSU makes the playoff and loses like they did last time, the Big Ten will never get invited again.

If OSU makes the playoff and wins, we'll never be able to recruit against them again.

There is just no good that can come of it.

Fuck it.  We'll play in a New Years Day bowl game no matter what anyway.

There is a very obvious way that Northwestern gets in. They beat OSU.

If they win tonight, they go to Pasadena. No questions asked. They could be 6-6, win tonight, and still go. The winner of the Big Ten automatically goes to the Rose Bowl unless the Big Ten champion goes to the playoff, or unless the Rose Bowl is a semifinal site and the Big Ten doesn’t make the playoff, like last year. OSU won the conference, but the Rose Bowl was a semifinal site and they didn’t make the playoff, so they got the Cotton Bowl.

I'm very confused as to why there are so many regular season games today. Especially for P5 teams like Stanford, Cal, Virginia Tech, and South Carolina. Their own conferences championship games are today (or yesterday for the Pac 12). What if one of them had made it? What if Stanford-Cal was a big game for deciding who goes to the Pac 12 championship? What am I missing

Thanks again for posting this each week. Right now I just don’t have the will or stomach to watch any football. I’m excited for M basketball but even as good as that team looks, it’s like getting a new puppy, one day after your dog died.

Still, Go Blue. Always.

I applaud anyone who can stomach watching football after what happened last weekend. I refuse to watch until M’s bowl game. OSU will, of course, destroy NW, winning yet another conference title while we continue to fail in that aspect. Hey! It has been only 14 years since winning it! I suppose we can keep waiting. It’s pathetic that NW has gotten to the title game before M. I understand the west isn’t as difficult as the east, but it is still pathetic.

Disappointing though last Saturday was, I suppose I never understood fans - at least if they are true students of the sport as a fan should be - who did the whole "I refuse to watch...." thing, whether it be until a bowl game or, in some extreme cases, ever again (narrator: they'll watch again). You really just have to compartmentalize it and move forward lest perspective gets lost and your attitude towards things more important becomes comparably odd.

I am the guy who spends 14 hours every football Saturday watching coverage of the sport, except whem we lose to OSU and I turn to either Xbox or movies (I watched three movies after losing to OSU). I simply cannot watch games today after last week’s ass whooping. I will watch M’s bowl game and the playoffs (unless OSU is in it, which they likely will).

I'm somewhat checked out of college football. I'm only hoping NW can be competitive and the lazy, stoned bear OSU is back.

Ohio State's default mode seems to be "off".

They have supreme 5-star talent that just can't be bothered with playing Maryland and Purdue.

They got geeked out of their minds for their big rival and steamrolled.  Now that is over.

Ohio State will already know how Oklahoma did before they even play.  If Oklahoma impresses and it looks like it's clear that the committee will put Oklahoma in regardless of what Ohio State does, I expect the OSU switch to stay "off".

Without anything to play for that wakes up the sleeping 5-stars, they will mail it in.  They may even lose.

B10 game will be hard to stomach. Announcers will be saying how much adversity Urban has overcome etc...& showing clips on how he humiliated Harbaugh / Michigan.

"Jim Delaney bites the head off a live committee member on national TV."

You know, I'd say there's no way Delaney would ever show a spine on national TV, but OSU is involved.  So, of course, he'd be bitching to anyone that would fake listening...
