Sunday Night Drinking Thread

Submitted by Optimism Attache on

Going after a couple Hitachino Nest varieties (red rice ale and espresso stout) recently discovered at my local beer outlet.

Snow is brewing and it looks like chances are good for a 4-day weekend here in our nation's capital.

What are you drinking?

the 4 oldest want to go skating at the outdoor rink near the farm.  its -9 without wind chill, but who am i to say 'no'?

will drink vino upon our return.   mama is going to batter fry cod for us all for dinner, and sunday night is 'dessert night', so oldest daughter will conjur up something pretty tremendous on that score.

was -24.  -9 was when the sun had just gone down.  nevertheless we had a whale of a hockey game with 4 of my kids plus another 5 from the football team i coach showing up.   no wind. and i kid you not, it wasn't that cold at all, especially if you kept moving.

my family is indeed a blessing but it starts with an awesome wife who shared my vision on how we hoped to accomplish those things.  and i have turned the whole bunch into serious michigan fans, though it didn't take much doing.

And making a grilled cheese sandwich flight for the wife.  Got a bunch of different cheeses, meat, and bread.  Some mac n cheese on the side (or in a sandwich) for good measure.

American Dynamo.. a porter made by Beards Brewery up here in Petoskey. After that grabbed a sixer of Leinies Grapefruit Shandy. Worth a shot and need something that reminds me of warmer weather. -30 below and frozen pipes already this week!

an Orange Izzy while hanging in the spa. worked in the spa in 80 degree weather for two solid days... no alcohol still following my bad hangover from last week... planning on a Duet from Alpine when I am finally feeling up to it.

-25 degrees here with huge 50 mph wind gusts. There is nothing to do but drink, blog, and watch film. I need to move

Upstate, New York. Been in the negative for a week now... Anywhere from 2-5 feet of snow on the ground as well. Not pleasant. Been wanting to move to Colorado. People assume its cold there but it actually gets the most sunlight of any state in the country due I elevation.
