Sunday Night Drinking Thread

Submitted by Optimism Attache on

Going after a couple Hitachino Nest varieties (red rice ale and espresso stout) recently discovered at my local beer outlet.

Snow is brewing and it looks like chances are good for a 4-day weekend here in our nation's capital.

What are you drinking?

As it is effing freezing and even two trips to the recycling have proven to be long walks despite being short walks normally, wine seems an appropriate solution for the situation. Specifically, and this is one that was gifted to me, a Cupcake malbec - it isn't bad at all really. We'll be here with the SNL 40th special and watching my neighbors attempt to negotiate the cold for reasons unknown.

Planning on watching the NBA ASG by chugging a beer (prob MadTree Happy Amber) every time there is an uncontested dunk. I hope I don't get too loaded...

About to pop a Troegs Nugget Nectar IPA.

Great day; lunch in DC to makeup for our snowed-out dinner last night, watched Mrs. gopoohgo shop for shoes in Chevy Chase for an hour.

Day off tomorrow; possible deathstorm making Tuesday a bit iffy as well!

Sierra Nevada IPA while watching Ireland v West Indies in the ODI Cricket World Cup.  Ireland bowlers limiting W.I. batsmen. I imagine Ireland will outscore W.I. once they go on offense.

(watching stream on firstrowsports -- it is a bit choppy but better than nothing AND better than paying ESPN $99 for access to the whole tournament, as I don't think I'll have the time to watch too many of the matches at great length)

Long day with the kids. As soon as they are asleep, my wife and I are sharing s bottle of Red Diamond Cabernet to go with the steaks we are having for dinner while we watch this weeks episode of Suits.

Yup, we are pretty boring, but I wouldn't change a thing.

It is pretty available in Grand Rapids.  I picked a couple of bottles up at D&W in Rockford.  They actually had it on tap at Bostwick Inn Restaurant for a while.  The DogFish Head Burton Baton is what seems to be tricky to find even though it is supposed to be more available.

Edit:  It was actually the 90 minute that they had on tap at Bostwick.

Celebrating Chinese New Year tonight with a bunch of Chinese people. Mostly Northern Chinese, who like to drink. Their drink of choice is something resembling tractor fuel. And dumplings, lots of dumplings.

Over here at Mt. Wachusett I am going to go local with the Milk Stout by Wachusett Brewing Co. Brewery is in town so I went and filled up the growlers.

I was drinking Gatorade. Until I saw the NIT 6th seed thread. I am now taking shots of whiskey and chasing it with beer.
