Really hope we are able to build out the offensive line recruiting classes in the next two years. Listening to the season preview podcast was a sobering reminder that we still have a long ways to go to build the depth we need to have linemen developing in the background and not ripping redshirts off people out of need. Some names on this list would give more bullets in the chamber. Hopefully Ed Warriner sticks around and builds that depth up for a few years

That was a LOT of OT losses in a hurry: the processed recruit (who ended up at OK), Newsome's knee cratering, Hamilton flipping, Wilson taking a check, LTT's common decency cratering...  Five tackles lost in less than 2 years.  Not sure how anyone recovers from that without skipping a couple of beats.  And still, morans that know everything about football complain that Harbaugh has simply failed with the OL.

Losing a kid to Stanford sucks but also doesn't suck because it's one of the few football schools (perhaps the only football school) that's academically superior to Michigan across the board. As much as I bleed maize and blue, it's hard to blame a kid for jumping at an opportunity to get a Stanford degree without having to compromise on an elite football experience. Lots of recruits claim that academics are an important factor in their decision, but when they choose Stanford over Michigan, at least you know they're not bulshitting.

It definitely stung. Seems like the keys to returning our o-line to greatness will be a few critical recruiting wins from some top talent and stocking these positions with better depth so those guys can spend a year or two in the hopper before seeing the field. With a quality S&C coach in place and Coach Warriner in charge hopefully we can see some MEAT lines again. We'll find out Saturday how far this line has come in 8 months.

In 2014 they had three true freshman start just on offense. Two true freshman olineman and a wide receiver. I'm also sure that Adoree Jack and Ju-Ju both started as true freshman.

Sua Cravens started 13 games as a true freshman. Im sure Leon Mcquay or Iman Marshall started games about a freshman. I also think they had a linebacker or two around '15 or '16 that started a few games.

Totally forgot about Khalid Kareem. Sounds like he got his conditioning right and is turning himself into an NFL prospect. Good for him.

That said, please be anonymous this weekend.

Slightly OT but I saw somewhere that the Tackle from Rice UM was trying to get as a transfer is likely to start at Texas.

Personally, I hate losing recruiting battles to ND more than I do to OSU. The latter has been a power for a long time. ND has been up and down for a long time (longer than us, though admittedly we've had rough years). But I feel like we lose more than we should to ND in recruiting. But they're HS kids so hard to really take much from it IMO.

The only ones on this list that really hurt are the OTs since we are desperate for something guaranteed to be solid at both OT positions.

Michigan starters who had ND offers as far as I can tell:

Defense: Gary, Kinnel, Long, Bush, Dwumfour, hard to believe they didn't offer Solomon

Offense: Bredeson, DPJ, Black, (Patterson), bueller... (this is fewer than I had expected on offense, but guess it makes sense - surprised not to see an ND offer for Ruiz)

If we extended to backups obviously the list gets much longer. The OP article is strange in light of the fact that there are a similar # of guys the other way around.
