I think he wants to go to Alabama and his mom wants him to go to Michigan. Not sure what more there is to parse. Ultimately his mom wants him to choose Alabama is where he will go. Honestly the gnashing of teeth here is silly. If you go to a football program you inherently don't love how committed to playing your best for that school, a grueling task on top of being a student might I add, will you be? I want recruits who WANT to come here because they love what Michigan can offer not because of what they can do for the football team or vice versa solely.

Collins, it was worth the effort by the Michigan staff to pursue what they believed were young men with a serious interest in playing for the wolverines. However, I would not make it a habit of pursuing top ranked kids in that part of the country for the simple fact, the best are normally already the property of an SEC school. I believe Nico was actually a viable recruit until Kirby and the new, improved GA recruiting machine became involved.

It's not that difficult - takes no more than the landing spots of the top 50 on an annual basis - to see which ACC schools, not surprisingly headed by those associated with the SEC, either as a player or coach, are aware of what it takes to compete and have proven to be very good students. I think the one thing backers of these schools won't tolerate, i.e., TN are coaches that prove they aren't qualified to handle this level of talent. Don't expect him to be around much longer.

Yes, Solomon is a teenager, but I don't think he's the most mature teenager ever. I disagree with everyone who likes to rush in and say that, by virtue of the fact that these guys are teenagers, no one should ever say anything remotely negative about how they handle the recruiting process. The class is already full of teenagers that didn't feel the need to make it into a circus. They're 17 and 18 years old, not toddlers. They can drive, and most can vote, so it's not unreasonable to comment on their actions.

In public, I would find you and kick your ass. So I am really not ok with people posting nasty comments about other people's kids. Besides, it is insane for grown men and women who have careers and families to get so bent out of shape because you don't like his college decision making process. It's called perspective, get some.

Want to protect my children from adults attacking them online. By the way, this is an actual thing that happens when psycho parents attack "rivals" of their kids online. And yes, if that happened to one of my kids, I would take action. Listen, if your life is so pathetic that you enjoy criticizing teenagers over their college decisions that are none of your damn business- go ahead. When I went to UM, nobody gave a shit about recruiting. You would see the Freshmen in the first game of the season and you cheered for them. And it all worked out just fine. I like seeing the players that UM is recruiting and getting to know their backgrounds and skills. But I am not going to get upset or give my opinion on where kids from Georgia should go to school. Now every asshole has an opinion about what school Aubrey Solomon should go to and thinks everyone needs to hear it.

Except that's not what he said.

He said that you're in no position to criticize anyone's maturity if your response to someone saying something negative online about your daughter is to hunt them down and beat their ass.

In case you missed it again:  Your attitude is not mature.

This whole thread you've been bitching about what people say about 18 year old kids and then you take it to another level to try to win the argument by relating it to your own teenager. First of all, if you can't handle recruiting conversations, (hint: they will happen whether you like it or not) then maybe check out of the thread instead of playing Mr. I Would Kick Your Ass Internet Tough Guy. Second, teenagers are not immune to criticism. Everyone (including all of our little precious snowflakes) can and will have shit said to them, about them, etc. And guess what? It might even be public. Or it might be private. So in the same way that you say people on here have such pathetic lives if they dare to say something negative about an 18 year old, your life may be equally pathetic through your desperation to defend someone so vehemently for the sake of a possible recruiting win. That is to say, this probably isn't as much about you standing up for young adults as it is about getting a 5 star considering you are so worried that they may read something on a sports blog. And what the hell does it have to do with the United States? Are you saying people don't criticize others' children in other countries as compared to the U.S.? Weird fucking argument.

I'm hoping Harbaugh has a legit backup plan, bc if Solomon goes to Alabama, the DT depth next season is sketchy. Really hoping there's someone that comes out of nowhere to fill the void if Solomon goes elsewhere.

Considering the fact that there have been zero names brought up outside of Solomon and Tuefele, I think I'm inclined to voice my concern in whether or not there is a legit 2017 backup plan in place in case we don't land either prospect. Thank you though for being a condescending dick instead of offering up useful commentary on the subject.

If we want to start competing for championships I think it's obvious that we need to get guys like Solomon. The trenches are so important, and it seems like almost every year we are 2nd for big time guys at the DT/NT position(s). I am very confident in our staffs ability to develop players. However, it would be nice to get a Marcel Dareus, a Gerald McCoy, or any stud NT/DT recruit. Here's to hoping the 2018 class is loaded with DT/NT types.

Clemson did not crack the top 10 in recruiting in 2013 and they have a NC. Michigan was number 5 that year, and a lot of defensive players did come through in their Junior and Senior seasons. A couple more top 10 recruiting classes by Harbaugh and he will have the talent to challenge for a NC.

It would be great to get Solomon but I'd like a few more OL recruits.

These writers want more DRAMA and will trick for a quote to fit their already written stories.  They want to incite tons of controversial comments and arguments online.

Unfortunately that's the new journalism these days.

If what Mom thinks was the determinative factor, then Malik McDowell and Najee Harris would have committed to Michigan.

"His mother really likes Michigan" is just an updated form of "Academics are really important."

Going up against Bama in recruiting, I expect to be the huge underdog. I'd like to see him commit but I doubt it's happening, regardless of what the crystal balls say.
