Schadenfreude MSU basketball loses at home to Northwestern

Yeah. I know we lost as well today but at least we didn't lose to a team that was beaten by 30 by Pitt.

I hate both, but I at least respect Ohio. I have zero respect for pathetic Sparty and its pathetic fanbase. The tunnel melee was bad enough, but seeing their fans try to justify, excuse, downplay, what-about, finger-point, and engage in the most ridiculous mental gymnastics possible to avoid looking in the mirror is a spectacle in and of itself.

The tunnel melee just exposed to the entire country what we've known about them all along: they're a bitter, inferiority-addled, and completely deranged fanbase and program that hates Michigan more than they love MSU.

I understand this, since my first emotion for many years toward them has been, "Fuck ohio." Still, it's difficult not to respect the level of success that they've had over the years. It's a grudging respect, but a respect nonetheless.

Now, as far as how they got to that level, or as to the coaches that have led them to that level? Yeah, now we're back to "Fuck ohio."

There are conspiracy theories on OSU's and MSU's message boards about Michigan's second half improvements. One message board thinks it's blood doping and the other thinks we're running signs through some sort of AI, so we can steal signs in the second half. So, the QAnon comparison seems not too far off.

I'm sure only a small percentage of the fan bases buy into these conspiracy theories, but they seemed pretty wild when I saw them retweeted on the Message Board Geniuses twitter account.

You hate to see it. Except when you love to see it.

Speaking of our bball team…some room-temperature takes:

I hope Llewellyn is ok. I also think he takes some stupid shots, like long, pull-up 2’s and some “I have no plan” drives to the hoop. I feel the same about McDaniel

Not digging the TW vibes this year. He seems lackadaisical at best, disinterested at worst. Not sure what is going on. The last possession against UVA didn’t do him any favors either.

Hunter battled all night, but you could plainly see his struggles against bouncy guys. He is many things, but quick off his feet is not one of them. He can’t dunk in traffic…seems like he doesn’t even jump in traffic.

Need better sub patterns. We need less of the first half JV lineup they have been throwing out there.

Need more Joey Baker.

We should not throw stones at glass houses, we are a HD ankle sprian out for 3 weeks away from missing the tournament, we may miss the tournament the way this team is built anyway.

You were polite in your words for TW. I've described him as useless, especially as a starter s he has no basketball skill set that is good that you can point to. He used to have his motor but it seems like now he is a golf cart.

Unfortunately we haven't recruited a big time guard under Howard's time as coach here. Someone like Collier obviously would have made the difference. This team struggles because no PG, no PF and I would say Bufkin doesn't give enough as a starting SG at a power 5. He needs one more year. He is progressing nicely though

Hopefully someone asks that rape enabling coach of theirs about the tunnel again so he can engage in his favorite activity of blaming Michigan for everything.

Nebraska beat Creighton. It’s going to be a long year in the big ten. I don’t think very many teams will separate themselves and it’ll be a gauntlet for the rest. It’ll be interesting see what the narrative will be for the talking heads about the big ten, is it a bloodbath or is it that nobody is really that great this year?

Not surprising given Izzo is apparently spending most of his time these days less concerned with coaching his players than defending the crimes of Sharty football players - something he's great at given the history of his basketball team.
