Spindler announced a decision date of August 8 to the free press. Seems like a Michigan-ND battle with Michigan possibly having a small lead. Hopefully he drops for the good guys.

If he does go blue this will also have a huge impact on the recruitments of Donovan Edwards and Drew Kendall as Edwards has said that he wants to come to a class with talent and Kendall would play the same spot as Spindler.

Despite the most recent CBs pointing to Notre Dame (albeit from three months ago), it feels like UM has the momentum here.  Will be interesting to see what happens with the CB picture over the next few weeks.

You're right, which makes the timing even more interesting. Word was he was a ND silent with the understanding that they were cool with him taking his visits. Now? Has Covid made him decide to not take those visits and just go public with his ND commitment? Was he a silent but is flipping to UM? Was he never a silent  to ND in the first place? It will be interesting to hear what he says.

I recall hearing Spindler could play OG or DT/SDE. Is Michigan no longer looking at him as a defensive line prospect? I would think if he were on the DLine Kendall would still have a spot on the team.

PSU, OSU and LSU are the other contenders but all indications are that ND -Michigan is the battle here.

On the ND side, he seems to have told them (before the shut down) that he was planning to commit there but first wanted to do his visits.

For Michigan, momentum seems to be swinging in our direction with his comments and contact recently.

Didn't Allen Trieu just say a day or two ago that if he had to put in a crystal ball today, he'd be on ND?  He doesn't what to change it off Michigan, because he doesn't want to keep swinging it back and forth over the month.  So it does seem close to 50-50.

Not getting my hopes up, mostly just because I'd rather be pleasantly surprised, and its Michigan so we ought to be used to recruiting dong punches by now. ND has sent quite a few OL pretty high in the draft in recent years, so they've got that going for them, too.

Guess we'll know soon enough.

Every school not named Alabama, Clemson, or OSU (the last cycle or two) loses recruiting battles.  The year before last we kept Dax Hill from Alabama.  He and 5* DT Chris Hinton are going to be huge contributors this year.

Michigan has the #8 recruiting class in the country right now, and will probably add their top target at WR later today.  Four OL were drafted in just this year's NFL draft.  The gloom is unwarranted.

I'm feeling 40/60 on this recruitment. While it reminds me of the Braiden McGregor recruitment, I just feel like Spindler is more likely to pick Notre Dame since there is a more clear path to playing time, despite the momentum it feels like we have. I'm hoping to be pleasantly surprised and have another Braiden McGregor situation, but if not, we either get Drew Kendall or still maintain a very solid OL class

Kendall is appearing shaky as well, relative to the crystal balls being 85% in UofM's favor.  Michigan probably still leads, but it's been so long that he may be one of those "looking for a reason to go somewhere else" guys.  He's huge on academics, so Stanford is in play since they offered, and I think he's going through that process to see if he could be admitted.  His dad went to Boston College and that's close to home.

I agree he's been shaky, however, I think there's a possibility that could be due to the Spindler recruitment. Kendall doesn't want to be 6th guy in the OL class especially if the 5th guy is another highly rated OG in Spindler. If we lose out on Spindler, I think we get Kendall. His recruitment just kinda feels like one of those that goes on for while with a lot of uncertainty, but ultimately ends up with the good guys if we don't get Spindler

I think Spindler is more important as an instate recruit than just as a talent. Mentioned above is Kendall will probably commit if Spindler chooses ND. Both are good G prospects.

Spindler seems to be higher on the board and Kendall might have been asked to wait because of it. I think that’s the right move if true. In close talent levels the local product should win out.
