Quick Lane Bowl Roll Call

Submitted by Walter Sobchak on December 26th, 2018 at 9:01 AM

Is anyone else going to the 2018 version of the Cherry Bowl?

I'm taking my eldest daughter down for lunch and the game.   I hope to see some of you all there.  I'll bet mgoblog has more registered users than people who will walk through the turnstiles at Ford Field today.

I'm headed downtown later as well. A dude from my work was selling tickets for charity so about 20-30 of us are all meeting up. Should be fun. I've never seen a college triple option team in person before.

+1 for the Nemo's reference.

I've taken their shuttle to Tigers games several times.  Great watering hole to meet up at for pre- and post-game drinks and food.

That said, I'd recommend calling them to see if they are running the shuttle bus to the Quick Lane Bowl when there will be more folks spending money at Quick Lanes today than attending that game.

Obviously not going myself.  Instead, packing today for my trip to Atlanta and the Peach Bowl.

My partner went to GT, so he was totally geeked (no pun intended) that they were playing in Detroit and we can go to the game after spending Christmas in Michigan. We have season tickets for Tech, anybody going is in store for a fun game. That offense is not something you see often and nobody runs it better than Paul Johnson.

They should do something to honor Willis Ward at the game. The first time that Georgia Tech came to the state of Michigan for a football game was in 1934, when Ward was benched because of his race (see "Black and Blue" if you haven't already). Seeing as how Ward grew up in Detroit, just a couple miles from Ford Field, they should acknowledge him in some way.

Hopefully the Quick Lane Bowl people are scouring MGoBlog in the hours before the game, looking for ideas...

The Cherry Bowl. Ah, memories. I watched it with my dad from a hospital room in Big Rapids, Michigan, when I was very little and had mono. Sparty got manhandled by Army.

Will be there.  I've seen all the B1G teams - x Nebraska - live.  GT will become the 9th ACC team I've seen live (missing VT, UNC, Wake, FSU and Clemson).

Who would have thought, the second worst B1G team in the worst division of the conference utterly destroyed the second best team in the ACC Coastal division. I could also add that it did so in much more impressive fashion than either Georgia or Clemson.

But I must have something wrong because the ACC and SEC are the two best conferences, right?

We are Michigan fans, but have went to 3 Quick Lane Bowls and we are from Traverse City.  We always cheer for the Big Ten or Mid Anerican Conference team.  Way to go Gophers!!!
