OT-ish: Jack Nunge out for the season
Saw this on local news here in Iowa....bad news, turns out Nunge is done for the season, looks like he tore his meniscus.
Feel terrible for the kid, he's really a good guy. He’s to undergo surgery next week and expected to be out for the next four-six months.
Here's hoping he has a full recovery, he's already been through a lot.

Love Nunge, he's a class act, hopefully he can get healthy for next season - They'll need the help with Garza and potentially Bohannon gone.

Bohannon will never be gone.
But yeah, really sad for Nunge and the team.

Poor guy. Didn't look like a serious injury at the time but a simple slip can cause it, and this is the second time in two years. I hope he makes a full recovery because he should be in line for a starting position if Garza leaves.

I saw on the Iowa boards that knee injury last year was also a non-contact injury - so they were pretty sure it was going to be bad news as soon as he went down last night.
Best of Luck young man.

It didn't look serious and that's why I figured it was really bad. It's those ones where almost nothing happens that end up worse. Tearing ligaments is often worse than horrific looking broken bones, at least long term.

That fucking sucks. Poor guy.

That's rough, especially after what he's been through. I feel bad for him.

Shades of Jerod Ward. That’s too bad.
Their coach is still a dick, but that’s too bad for Nunge.

Poor kid. Really feel bad for those guys that go through all that work to get back and suddenly they're right back to starting over. The worst I can think of is Drake Harris. Poor guy had one setback after another after another and then he gets run over by a lift truck while stretching!!! (Jake Butt is another terrible story! After he got to the pros ist was one injury after another.)

That was drake Johnson....
You're right. Sorry. I was thinking of Drake Harris' great potential but a pulled hamstring in his senior year of HS kept giving him problems and he never recovered his potential. But it was Johnson who got run over by a lift truck.

I feel bad for upvoting an injury announcement, but thanks for the follow up. I wish the kid a full recovery with a return to b-ball.

Have seen that devastating injury way too many times. Wishing him a successful recovery and great 2021-22 season!

yeah, sad to hear. Watching the replay it didn't look promising, because he just went down for no reason.
Best of luck to the kid in his recovery

Nunge is truly Iowa's only good interior post defender. A VERY valuable sixth man. They're pretty much done.

I liked watching that guy play. He had the athletic chops to boost Iowa in the tourney, this is really too bad.

He’s in our thoughts. It seems he’s having a tough year.
Hang tough, young Nunge.
