I don’t know.. kind of looks like Taggart trying to give the appearance of running a tight ship without actually doing it. The events in question were January and April of 2018, but he was kicked off after the season is done and they missed out on a bowl...

Be nice if when people make these posts they posted a brief summary of why he was booted instead of just a link

There's some similarity here to the urban meyer/osu situation re zack smith. meyer knew about smith for a long, long time and didn't do anything until the heat was on. After that, the osu/ufm clown show ensued. That was a mess that maybe unnecessarily hurt osu. I don't care about what it did to ufm. He should have handled zack smith very differently.

In the case of Francois, this is the very first time I've heard even a whiff of a story of domestic violence involving this QB ... so, it wasn't main-stream sports news stuff and Taggart's action wasn't a knee jerk reaction.

I think FSU and Taggart learned something from the osu debacle regarding domestic violence. Get ahead of the story! Sadly, members of pro or college sports teams that are alledged to have engaged in domestic violence are guilty until proven innocent. This isn't a value judgement here. It is what it is in the age of outrage and face crimes.

Too bad for Francois and his victim and if these allegations turn out to be false, well, then he can go from there. But FSU/Taggart absolutely did the right thing here as much as it pains me to get on board with the guilty until proven innocent thing. Accusations of child abuse or wife/girlfriend beating are and should be treated differently and not just because of the #metoo shit - its because of the depravity of such acts and the need to send a message that might, just might, make offenders think twice about bitch slapping their wives and girlfriends or diddling young boys in the shower, JMO, YMMV.

My mileage varies - a LOT.  What you just said is to trash some player because some girl throws an accusation.  BEFORE any investigation even occurs!  That's ludicrous!!!  You would have dismissed Jordan Lewis outright - AND HE WAS IN THE RIGHT!!!!

You can't punish someone simply because someone else claims something happened.  You need to properly investigate the entire situation.  This was, apparently, Francois' third incident with his GF.  The first two didn't result in charges, but I suspect that he and Taggart had an understanding about a third time (strike, if you will).  Either something happened that we don't know about, or there was such an understanding.  I'm sure we'll know eventually - it always comes out.

In any case, I doubt Taggart acted like you would prefer - impulsively.

You are right, 1VaBlue1. That members of college or pro sports teams that allegedly beat their wives/girlfriends or diddle young boys in the shower SHOULD be innocent until proven guilty ..... in a legal sense of course. But, in this day and age, you're guilty in the court of public opinion until proven innocent.

Also, my presumption was that before acting, the FSU AD and/or the school conducted a reasonable investigation and search for evidence that Francois committed a crime and determined that he did. FSU didn't need direct, only circumstantial evidence, that Francois committed an act of domestic violence to undertake the action that they did.

Colleges and sports teams can't afford the negative press that will certainly follow even a report, not a court finding, that a team member bitched slapped his wife or girlfriend or diddled young boys in the shower ..... or anything remotely suggesting such acts. It is how it is, not how we would like it to be ..... but I'm not entirely sure that in the specific and sordid circumstance of domestic violence and child molestation that a thumb on the scale of justice to guilt when circumstantial evidence of a crime exists isn't altogether inappropriate. There should be a strong counter-culture response to such acts as a means of dissuading people from committing them in the first place.

There was audio of him threatening her, as she was breaking his stuff.  But no evidence it actually happened.  The report actually said he picked her up, she got a cut on her arm in the process.  So all evidence right now points to him not kicking her ass, merely throwing her out of his house.

Lot's of problems at FSU and many of them were leftovers from Jimbo BUT  that job was way above Taggart and he should have stayed at a smaller program until jumping to the majors.
