Is one nice guy. After a bunch of kids put crazy Jim in his place, Gene comes out and apologizes as to save a little face for the wounded Harbaugh. It isn't often that a guy who's team and coach just beat down your team and coach, to the tune of 4 touchdowns, would be so gracious. Then again, I'm sure that Gene is sitting in his office looking at all those trophies and rings and thought about how he and his has been beating the shit out of UM for so long, destroying the teams of UM's last 3 coaches, that Gene was feeling a bit generous, and wanted to save UM from any further embarrassment. Nice guy that Gene Smith

Gene Smith felt so sorry for UM that he felt the need to apologize. What he said is true, OSU doesn't need to resort to off the wall antics to be relevant. They are a top program, and have been for decades. Truly it is a fact that UM has become a afterthought, if not for Harbaughs comedy show nobody would be talking about UM football at all. Gene doesn't need to feel sympathetic about the truth. Everybody knows that crazy Jim is just trying to bring so attention to UM, he knows he can't do that on the field so he resorts to the clown show that we have been witnessing over the past 18 months. The crazy thing about this entire affair is that crazy Jim wants to act as if people, including the media, are paying attention to him and UM football for something other than his circus act. Question is what exactly ? Sure as hell is not results on the field. Nobody cares that you beat Purdue, and Oregon State. When matched up against quality teams he got his ass steam rolled. If he wants football to be the story then he should stop with the clown show and win the games that matter. Otherwise, he should just think about what his next great gimmic will be to get some attention. The media will cover it, everyone is interested in a good laugh, and he has been hilarious thus far.

That's an interesting theory.

I thought it was already "proven" that Wolverine Devotee created those other accounts, but maybe I'm incorrect.

I'm thinking this as well. Maybe not so much Urban told him to STFU but Gene was informed that Urban very recently said he was thinking of taking his team down south for spring break next year and he looked incredibly stupid for talking out against it shortly after Urban made that statement.

It wasn't so much as an apology to Harbaugh as much as it  was to smooth things out to make him look less like a total dumbass and totally cluecless to what his biggest athletic sport is doing or talking about.

Urban never said he was taking the team south ever. What he said is " they are looking at it" , that's all he also said they look at everything, all the time. He also said that they later decided against doing something like that because it was a bad idea to rob the kids of their spring break, sighting that spring break is a big event in college life and they (OSU) wanted the players to be able to enjoy the spring break experience. It's okay that crazy Jim is so selfish as to rob his players of that opportunity, but don't try and make it Lund like Urban Meyers thinking is similar, they are as different as 42-13.

using a "scare" tactic to let JH know that he is good friends with Warde, and if he keeps picking on him, he'll get Warde on him.

Meanwhile Warde is itting back pointing to JH and saying "whatever this guy says"

Possibly Meyer. This spring break trip benefits a B1G team. Other teams in the B1G that do something similar would also benefit from it. There is a decent chance that Meyer said "we may do this as well," just like he's doing with satellite camps. And at that point, OSU looks really bad because they just said they'd only do it if they were trying to revamp their program.

My guess is Meyer said something to him, and so now he's taking his comments back. We already know he's more afraid of a coach firing him than the other way around, so it makes sense.
