Nassar Banner: Not a Good Look

Submitted by GRBluefan on November 19th, 2019 at 4:00 PM

Just saw this on CNN, but apparently the Psi U fraternity thought it would be good idea to hang a banner making a joke about Larry Nassar from one of their windows on Saturday.  Simone Biles was not amused.  Nothing quite like pissing off an American legend.  Way to represent, boys...

They were kicked off in early 2013 because a pledge went to the hospital with alcohol poisoning and blew a 0.59. Yes, a 0.59. 7.5 times the legal limit, and well into "you should be dead" territory.

The only reason he didn't die was because he also did a bunch of coke, and that kept his heart rate up enough that doctors were able to save his life and he ended up making a full recovery (I think).

So the lesson is, if you're gonna drink until you should be dead, do some coke too!

I think that's a gross overgeneralization. Yes, I was in Greek life in my time at UM, and yes, there were more than a fair share of douches in the system. In my own house included. But there's also plenty of good, upstanding guys who just like to have a good time. Just like (surprise surprise) almost everyone else on campus.

You can be an entitled, douchey asshole at Michigan and still not be in Greek life.

I'm not mocking PC attitudes nor making a political statement. I think MODs should delete this entire post from the message board. I happen to agree with the gymnast. But not because she is the best gymnast in American history. More importantly, what she said makes sense.

On RCMB, the defense of Nassar is that he went to UM undergrad (this was argued today on their site). That argument is shocking to its core that anyone would excuse MSU because he spent time at UM. I think that is a stupid argument. I also think what the frat did was stupid. Both sentiments represent the worst of both fan bases. The best thing to do is to ignore ignorance up and until it harms or infringes on one's rights. Being free of offense is not a right.

Love you guys!

I think the reason it's funny (to us) is because it's NOT a joke.

It's absolutely true and they know it.  And we know they know it, and they know we know it, which is why reminding them of it every chance we get is so damn funny.
