Michigan VS Gophers October 7th TBA
The last time I was at a Michigan/Gopher game in MN was the Navarre throwback in the Metrodome. I am looking forward to seeing as glorious a day (hopefully less stressful) this year at US Bank Field. Being October weather should be great and tickets are available (I just found 5 together in the corner for $130 each and a $50 one time fee) direct from the MN website.
HAIL!
I will be there with a few others on a third annual some other B1G stadium trip. Keep in mind, Minnesota plays at their own stadium, not US Bank Field.
OP might be sitting alone in an empty stadium for tickets that cost hundreds of $$$.
Nice.
Shssssssh. Keep it on the DL so the OP doesn't get tipped off. The MGOPrank Committee has been working on this for months. Will have cameras on site to capture it.
that does sound like an amazing day!
...but...have I been living under a rock that that seems high for me for MN FB to charge
ok probably sorry
Michigan is THE game on their home schedule...
Nebraska
Eastern Michigan
Rajun Cajuns
MICHIGAN
Sparty
Illini
Whisky
Wow. They get the Jug and the Axe at home. I hadn't stopped to think that they alternate the Axe and the Pig at home.
They play for the best rivalry trophies.
Minnesota definitely has the best trophies. Their Nebraska game is for $5 of broken chair bits. Somehow, even their newest trophy is incredibly cool.
Cool trophies they don't play for - the illibuck, the old oaken bucket, the palladium, the iron skillet, the wagon wheel, the bronze stalk, any and all of the cannons and bells, the tiger rag, the silver spade, the bronze boot. the golden egg, lincoln's hat, the red river rivalry golden hat, the megaphone, the peace pipe, the saddle, and the king of them all - the platypus.
Considered the golden boot but...it's not a boot but it is kinda cool. The Stanford Axe is cool but Minnesota plays for an axe. I love the Jewett, probably one of the better school-designed trophies to come out. But the above list is way sillier, I felt like including George Jewett's likeness would be disrespectful.
But this is all a long way of saying, the Heroes Trophy is super lame. The Freedom Trophy at least looks kinda cool but it's also pretty boring. When Nebraska joined the league, the trophies organized by administrators fell flat. The one organized by a twitter beef is an instant classic. Do better, administrators. (But seriously, great job with the Jewett).
The Floyd of Rosedale pig if a pretty good trophy.
they are playing a fine alcoholic beverage as their last home game? nice!
i play whisky quite a bit. whisky usually wins.
We’re their best opponent but their biggest game (from their fans’ perspective) is probably UW.
This is Michigan!
Fergodsakes
it is ludicrous how expensive it is to attend a college football game. but i agree that mn in october will be lovely!
These days, I think it's cheaper to go to a college football game than the grocery store.
Do you only shop non-sale items at Whole Foods?
You mean whole paycheck
I was going to go to this game as one of my best friends lived in Stillwater. Alas, he moved back to Michigan so I’ll watch it from my couch.
My sister is a Michigan alum living in Stillwater. I’ll see if she’ll join you 😂
This only feels right to plug in here.
That is great! lol
Appreciate the share but not as good as this angry Bobcat.
I half greatly enjoy this as an OU alum!
That's my birthday, so I'm hoping for a huge win! Go Blue!
Mine too! We are going to the game. We only have three stadiums, now that USC & UCLA are on the schedule for us to visit to watch M play. Won’t go to the toilet bowl in OH. Only have NE left from the original 14
"The original 14"? You must be very young.
Just grabbed 2! Thanks for the reminder! Haven't missed at Jug game at the Gophers since '98.
Chances of this being a night game?
Thinking about just buying season tickets (start around $300) and trying to get most of my money back from the Wisco, Nebraska, and Illinois games. Don't expect would get much for MSU or other games, but the fact that Michigan is going for about 1/2 of the full season seems a little out of whack, especially if the Gophers prove decent this year.
If I had the time and inclination this is a prudent move.
I'll be there with 3 others. It will be my 10th B1G venue. I got tickets from UofM during their sale of aways to season ticket holders (In April and not heavily marketed). Like the OP, I got @IU'22 from IU's ticket department. It's a good move to keep $$$ out of Stubby Hubby's hands.
Good move, I bought Tix to @Ucla in 2000 from their ticket office. Sat in the shade on the UCLA side in the Rose Bowl. 107° Fahrenheit that day. Ucla fans by me wanted to know how I got the tix. 🤪
Since you got your tickets from the Michigan Athletic Dept website, what section(s) are for visiting fans?
Sorry if I wasn't clear, bought from Ucla Tix office.
TBD/TBA: You submit application (@MSU requires x amount of points, etc). It was quickly accepted, but actual tickets not issued yet.
Navarre throwback? You mean Buffalo Stampede—go to 5:15
Seemed even longer to develop in person.
Form a F*cking Wall.
Go Blue.
Crazy ending on Halloween night - 10/31/15. Keep the Jug home!
Will never forget this game. My father in law passed earlier in the day, we had just moved into our new house and we had to take my daughter trick or treating before the game.
I was at that game and that all happened in my end.
Same here. Lower section around the 10 yard line in that corner where the receiver's knee touched inches short of the goal line. I couldn't tell as it happened whether he had scored or not, glad the replay official got it correct.
That is bound to be a night game. That is the game on Minnesota's schedule and its not played in November to where Michigan would have veto power.
That would be a good road trip for us from Chicago and Oct 6th is my husband's 60th birthday but I don't know how much he'd love being in a car on his actual birthday for 6-7 hours. Anyone ever do that drive? Good or boring?
I've made that drive twice from the SW Michigan area and yes, even from Chicago that's a very long haul.
I'm also considering going again this year. Since I relocated to north of Grand Rapids a few years back, I'm looking at maybe taking one of the lake ferries across (either from Muskegon or from Ludington) to cut a few hours off the time behind the wheel.
It’s not bad. You stop at a couple of Kwik Trips along the way for Beer, Jerky and to take a piss and you’re there.
I sometimes feel sorry for Gopher fans. There seem to have been a lot of games with Michigan where they perhaps should have won but end up losing in an excruciating way. It reminds me somewhat of Michigan's luck with OSU, except Michigan didn't have refs regularly slanting the field in their favor against Minnesota the way OSU did against the Wolverines.
Day before my birthday.
UM: 41
MINN: 16
I tried to buy tickets yesterday for a family of 5, holy shit! $975 for upper level on the aisle.
Can’t explain that one. Last time I went to a Michigan game in Michigan Stadium it was half that for much closer to the field.
I bought some tickets too. This will be my 6th non big house venue. Should be a great trip.
In Harbaugh’s tenure Michigan has not beaten Minnesota and Staee in the same season.
