Michigan Athletics teasing an announcement for next week

I hated pegasus and every Nike shoe I have ran in. I have been running for over 25 years and Asics and Brooks are by far the best. The last time I ran in nikes I ended up with wicked plantar fasciitis. Now I only do my ultra training in kayanos.

Running shoes are as personal as any other piece of serious athletic equipment and every distance runner is going to have their own opinion, just like with skates or a stick.

I don't really care what anyone else runs in (glad you found a shoe that works for you) I just don't think distance runners everywhere would rejoice at not being able to wear Nike, since a lot of distance runners wear Nike.

And a lot don't wear nike as well. In my years of running I have noticed a noticeable decline in the quality of their shoes since they started to focus on high revenue sports. In high school I ran in nikes, college I competed in Asics. I am pretty competitive runner. I was never fast enough to be sponsored. The one thing I do know is running shoes.

That's cool you're compeititve but I don't understand why it matters. A lot of elite runners and a lot of runners in general wear Nike shoes and would not "rejoice" if they all of a sudden did not wear Nike shoes.

I am not saying to stop wearing Nike. I am just getting sick of seeing Nike getting pumped up as the greatest thing when they have been putting out crap running shoes for awhile. If Nike is the best for your individual stride, foot shape, and strike placement then fine run with the swoosh.

Well, I only run in Nike's. Everything else had been too wide, not the right mix of cushion and support, the wrong shape in the heel, or a mix of other things. Nike is the only shoemaker that I've found that fit my feet right...and it's not even all of their shoes.

The pros I know from the Hansons actually run in Asics, brooks, saucony. Newton is an upcoming shoemaker. I am really liking their shoes lately.

I've alternated between Asics Kayano and Saucony Hurricane for several years. I think it's just personal preference finding shoes that work.

This is my issue with shoe sponsorships. Shoes need to be individually fit. For track and field at least, outfitting an entire team with individual characteristics with one manufacturer is asinine in my opinion. Then again Oregon just won the team outdoor championship...what do I know.

I hope we stay w Adidas cause they will offer the university a SHITLOAD of money to stay BUT!

I was at a Arizona St Football Camp yesterday in California and they had a catalog w all the new items etc from Adidas and they was ZERO MENTION of Michigan in the catalog, or our colors but all the others were listed!
