Where has WD been?  Just checked his posting history and he has only commented twice in the past 2 weeks.

He's still top 5 in points here and assuredly still on top of Michigan sports and apparel.

Is everything ok with him, i appreciate his posts and love of all things Michigan.

I agree with this - it's especially clear for those of us who like & follow the non-revenue sports.  Does WD get a bit emotional & self-righteous at times?  Sure - but then, his strongest critics are generally much more obnoxious, even at their best, than he ever is.

That's more than out-weighed by the amount of passion & level of detail he brings in terms of helping cover sports that don't make the front page.  I know not everyone gets all that excited about the fact that the field hockey team just pulled off a Big Ten double & is the #3 seed nationally, but I think it's pretty damn cool, and one of the best parts about MGoBlog to me is that there is a neat little subculture of people who can talk knowledgeably about things like that.  WD has been a big contributor to that subculture over the years, and I value his voice when he's around.

Exactly. If I got treated the same way he does, I sure as hell wouldn't keep posting here. I don't understand why it is that everyone thinks it's so cool to rip on the guy. I made a post before about him being bullied and that is still the case. Just look at a lot of the responses in this thread. It's like their moms never told them the old addage of "if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all.

For a group of people that like to hold themselves over others as being better, I would have to disagree that they are. His treatment is really a blackeye on this blog.

TL:DR: a lot of people are a dick to him.

He absolutely deserves credit for keeping up-to-date about the non-revenue sports and pointing out their successes.  I can take or leave his rants, but he absolutely does care about Michigan (to what degree and the healthiness of it I'm not so sure) and it's weird that shitting on him regardless of content is a cottage industry around here.

WD could take the next decade off, and I still couldn't approach his volume. Like most posters, 80-85% of his contributions are meaningful. Of course 100% of your comments are devoid of entertainment, insight and wit. As for my own posting, I only do so when I know it will bother you. As luck would have it, you are easily and frequently bothered.

Is odd he is no longer a fixture on these boards, while he is over the top at times I don't understand why anyone has a problem with him. The guy loves Michigan, good for him that he has a passion and can follow it as closely as he does.

... I immediately think of the low self esteem certain members must have for them to feel that the best way to respond to WD is verbal abuse. The kid can be over the top (although I don't know how people can dislike him for his recaps). Neg him if you must and move on. The constant bitching about WD is an embarrassment to this blog.

Isn't he like 20 or something too? Who didn't think they were the center of the universe at 20.

The way some people go after him isn't any different than playground bullying. There are a few real contributors here that have been "run off" over the last few years by the funny people who make 70% of the comments.

It's called life. If you act like a douche, people will call you out on it. He gets defenders here because his critics are harsh, but if he didn't act like a little douche there would be no reason to defend him because he would get left alone. I don't get all of the people here that go out of there way to defend him actling like the kid doesnt bring it on himself. The community here has changed and is a pain in the ass, but they don't go at people without reason. Being 21 doesn't excuse that behavior, not even beiong the owner of this blog will get you off. Look what happened here when Brian made an off taste MSU joke, but somehow that kid is above reproach for some of you, its just weird.

In no way, shape, or form is MGoBlog "life." It's an internet chat forum dedicated - for the most part - to the whims of 18-22 year olds (and - occasionally - kids between the ages of 14-17...and Detroit sports).

Unfortunately, too many posters treat MGoBlog like it is life. A lot of people here - posters, responders, and readers - act as though they have some dominion over the site. There is an "MGoBlog Aristocracy" persona that many posters take on here, which is honestly really creepy. Those that think MGoBlog is life need to take a step back, realize most of us are discussing sports, and get some perspective.

If you don't like a poster, ignore them. If you don't like a thread, don't click on it. And - if you feel someone has crossed an unwritten ethical line - report them to the mods. Otherwise, chill out or get some space from the digital universe for a bit.

And members here are people. Choosing to bully someone because they don't fit into your social construct and claim that it is the victim's fault says a lot about what kind of person you are.

To me, it was all about the apparel threads when Michigan was leaving Adidas. Those felt like Israel-Palestine debates turned up to 11.

That said, there are LOTS of shitposts around here, especially during the end of the Hoke/Brandon era, and for better or for worse his email was significant enough to warrant mention in a book.  I mean, he could have handled it better, but I didn't fault him too much for being excited about that.

Besides the ones you mentioned, there were the all-too-frequent apparel threads, which were the only WD-created content to earn him my autoneg. Despite all that, I do miss most of what he adds to this blog. So yeah, I do miss WD. Maybe not as much as I miss Evenyoubrutus, Mabel Pines, Alum96, and Mr Yost, but still I hope WD sticks around.
