Life without JH

Submitted by drtpushr on

Had a nasty nightmare last night. I woke in a sweat looking around to see if I had died and gone to hell. We didn't hire JH. I laid there at 3 in the AM and wondered what the reaction would have been like for others. Are there actually those out there that would have been fine with it? Or are most like me feeling the apocalypse had begun? Could there have been people jumping from buildings as in 1929? It is to me a life changing hire. It gives me hope and enthusiasm in a part of my life that was severely lacking for years. The future looks bright. How would others have reacted to no Harbaughing? Was there anyone else that could have brought this same feeling ?

It would have been the biggest dong punch ever if we didn't get him, so I treated it like it was a pipe dream.

On the bright side I'm mixing Crown Royal maple with syrup tomorrow and having it over green pancakes for Patty's Day.  CR maple is terrible, but I feel like it will be awesome for this.

I beg to differ.  Looks a helluva lot better than Michigan's record.

2005 LSU 11–2 7–1 1st (West) W Peach 5 6
2006 LSU 11–2 6–2 T–2nd (West) W Sugar 3 3
2007 LSU 12–2 6–2 1st (West) W BCS NCG 1 1
2008 LSU 8–5 3–5 3rd (West) W Chick-fil-A
2009 LSU 9–4 5–3 2nd (West) L Capital One 17 17
2010 LSU 11–2 6–2 T–2nd (West) W Cotton 8 8
2011 LSU 13–1 8–0 1st (West) L BCS NCG 2 2
2012 LSU 10–3 6–2 T–2nd (West) L Chick-fil-A 12 13
2013 LSU 10–3 5–3 3rd (West) W Outback 14 14
2014 LSU 8–5 4–4 T–4th (West) L Music City

Les Mile's best years are long behind him and he wouldn't be getting the 2-3 Louisianna 5 stars that fall on his lap every year if he was coaching here.

Look at his conference record trend since 2011... dude's 1-2 seasons away from getting fired in Louisianna and ending his coaching career.

I know this is stupidly picky, but my dad was an Army guy.  Green Berets are incredibly elite with language and diplomatic skills way above and beyond soldiering.  I'd disagree in saying they're close but not quite as good as a SEAL.

Sorry and carry on with the Les v. Jim comparison.

Lack of real interest was reciprocal...

Harbaugh gave up a chance to continue an NFL career to save the program.

Les Miles was willing, if asked, to think seriously about leaving a hot seat in Baton Rouge.

Dude napalmed his chances back in the 90s.  Plus he's 61, probably has a massive buyout from LSU and has routinely coached teams with piss poor QB play.  I don't know where Les would've been without John Chavis and the defenses he coached.  I guess we'll start to find out now.

We would have been fine. The team to feel sorry for would have been Tennessee because they would have had to scramble to find a different offensive coordinator.

Dont take the shit that comes out of the unconscious too seriously. The more interesting part is working with the mind to reveal how your whole relationship to Michigan football is a microcosm of some other more significant tension or dynamic in your life. But the first step is ignoring all these people who are judging you for it.

for that advice is that it seems rather defeatest for a first topic..."What if the coach of our dreams didn't come to Michigan???"  I just was saying that if you're thinking this way, maybe you're becoming too negative, even if in your own mind you didn't think you were.

I understand that its natural to want to create a topic that generates discussion and insightfullness, but its not something that you have to reach very far to find.

Just my 7 cents worth....(Edit):...and I don't mean to come across as judging.

As much as I love Michigan football and basketball, I try not to let it depress me if things aren't going well.  Its hard to watch a season go down in flames, but the impact on my life is obviously less than what it feels like most of the time.

I'm trying not to judge or harshly critique the OP over the post, he's just trying to generate discussion, so no harm no foul.  I don't want to discourage folks from communicating their thoughts or inputs...everyone's allowed their say.

just dismissed the dream as just a reaction to a bad piece of meat or something...not worth entertaining because we did get Jim.  He wanted to come home and brought his team with him.  There wasn't ever any doubt.  We hit a home run and now we'll see results.  Don't beat yourself up over something that was never an option.

Last night I had a dream of alien attacks where I was shot by one of the ufo's. I love crazy dreams like that. If I would've drempt of Brady Hoke still being the ouch, I would've woke up with cold sweats, dry heaving.

I had a dream we were beating Sparty 24-10 at the beginning of the second half and our D line was dominating and then they sacked the MSU QB in the endzone for a safety to go up 26-10.
