Lavert Hill will NOT decide at Army All-American Game

Submitted by EastCoast Esq. on

Per Sam Webb, Hill will not decide at the Army All-American Game.

His recruitment is making me more and more nervous because he seemed like a slam dunk when he decommitted from Penn State, but the process just keeps dragging. Not saying the kid has to decide now, but I am getting a bad feeling about the situation. Hopefully he does follow his big brother, though.

EDIT: I just realized that his MOM shot the idea down. That's very different from being indecisive.

Detroit King CB Lavert Hill told me he will NOT be announcing his decision during the @ArmyAllAmerican bowl. Said mom said no the idea.

Doesn't matter. If he's getting sick of all the commitment stuff, then how about .......

NOT CLICKING ON A POST ABOUT A KIDS COMMITMENT THEN COMMENTING ABOUT THE PROCESS.

I mean, he could just shut up.

And you're right. Hill is a target we want. Most of us are relatively interested.

Ya know, it could just be possible that they won't accept a commitment from Hill, but have told him to wait. It could be there may not be room for Hill.

  • David Long
  • Jordan Fuller

These two are both in the secondary. Long is ranked higher. And they might want Fuller.

  • Rashan Gary
  • Dontavious Jackson
  • Jonathan Jones

Gary, obviously, is the highest priority. And Jackson and Jones, Michigan getting at least one of them, to fill the gaping hole at LB, the area of greatest need.

  • Gregory Little
  • Isaac Nauta

Both Nauta and Little are unlikely. Everyone says Nauta goes to GA. And Little is already committed to Ole Miss. But stranger things have happened.

  • Pie Young
  • Devin Asiasi
  • ??????

Young and Asiasi are still listed as possibilities. And there may be other mystery recruits out there who no one other than Harbaugh knows about currently.

My point is, there is no way that Michigan can fit everyone out there who is listed as a prospect. It is possible that they would have taken a commitment from Hill earlier, but that he gets burned by waiting this long.

Yes, I couldn't remember Khaleke's name. And he wasn't in Brian's recruiting roundup, or listed as a porspect on Scout. But I have heard good things about him, just couldn't remember his name.

Of course, to get Gary, Long, Hudson, Jackson or Jones, would be perfect, along with any 5 stars (Little? Nauta?) who want to come to Michigan. We'll be good.

His mom is spot on.

If my kid asked me if he could commit then take other visits, as he said he was going to do, I would say, "No, be a man of your word. Take the visits, then commit somewhere when you're sure."

No problem with this.

that Long's decision impacts Hill... either in terms of space for a CB or just overall commits we can take?  Also curious if most recruitniks think Hill is more important than someone like Fuller or even Hudson despite the star difference

My guess is that mom said if you commit you are done with the visits. He still wants to take visits, so he isn't going to commit. Which is fine, because a commitment while you are still visiting other places is worth as much as the non existent paper it's written on.

Can't wait for February to get here. I think we're all just not use to being in on all these top recruits this late in the process. It's a new thing that will probably be the norm now. Just gotta sit back and enjoy the ride.

Clemson is on top of the world right now, but a high school senior should really care about where a team will be in 3-4 years, since that's when he will be a contributor.  For that purpose, every team who has a good coach and is recruiting well has a roughly eqal shot.

Three years ago, the final AP poll included Kansas State, Georgia, Texas A&M, and South Carolina in the top 10, while Clemson was down at 14th.  It's really tough to predict who will be a contender in a few years.

We wont know where he ends up until the first day of fall camp. If he shows up great, if not I don't really care. Go get Long and Fuller. I just hope Lavert realizes he may lose his spot in this class.

Have you been to Clemson?  I have.  A small, southern town in the middle of nowhere. Seems like it would be culture shock to a kid from a big northern city.
