I can't believe they're even surprised by this. Tennessee knew what they were getting into when they hired him, they just didn't want to believe it. Hate to say I told you so....

Also, I can't believe no one is mentioning Lane refusing to resign at Oakland stating he was hired to do a job and he was going to finish it. Poor Tennessee...

He really rubbed people the wrong way from the get go. The students may be upset but there are a lot of Vols fans and prominent alumn who are not sad to see him go. If you remember there were many TN beat writers, media members, and prominent alumn who were calling for Kiffin to be fired before he even coached a game.

A few days ago. I thought I was fucking kidding! I almost put a sarcasm alert on the post. Shit. These are very strange times. The Fighting Creamsicles may be pissed today but real soon they are going to be pleased. Lane Kiffin is a scumbag. Wouldn't surprise me to hear one day that his blonde bombshell wife beat in his car windows with a golf club.

With the NCAA breathing down their neck. It would seem someone like Kiffin is the last thing USC needs right now. Kiffin lives right on the edge of recruiting violations.

Douche bag coach and sketchy school = perfect match

Second thought ... Mike Taylor up for grabs.

If RR can pull in Baxter and Taylor from this weird coaching transition it would be HUGE!!

1. Kiffin is off his rocker.
2. Agree with rbgoblue, I have a hunch this is a long term win for Tennessee.
3. SC maybe isn't as concerned about sanctions as we thought to bring in someone who was in the middle of it all and has an impressive train of minor violations at Tennessee.

we have a new all-time leader on the d-bag scale. Congrats Lane that sure didn't take you long!
Dumping TENN after one season is un-real.

I wonder how Bill Belichick will react to losing his title?

First off Kiffykins? If I never read that again I wouldn't be upset haha. Second, like the poster above stated, which recruits can we steal? How many of you immediately went to Rivals upon hearing the news to see who we could pull? I know I did!

I think Lane Kiffin is an idiot in general (although I think Monte is quite good) so him going to USC is just great in my mind. Until I see him sign on the dotted line, however, I won't believe it.

I also agree with the above posters that if true this is a bad idea for a school that's already looking at the strong possibility of big NCAA sanctions and that Tennessee will eventually look at this as a big break for them.

From Kiffin's perspective: out of the frying pan, into the fire.

From USC's perspective: nabbed a tenacious recruiter who can import a strong staff, but, uh...

From my perspective: I don't really know. This almost seems like a punchline somehow.

Guess it'll be an interesting offseason if nothing else.

This sounds GREAT. You're under investigation for recruiting violations of the absolute worst kind, so you hire the guy who told a recruit he'd pump gas for the rest of his life if he went somewhere else and followed that up by opening his flap and shutting down his school's pipeline to one of the most talented high schools in one of the most talented states in the country. Not to mention the twenty gazillion secondary recruiting violations Tennessee had to self-report within two months of his hiring. I don't see how this could end badly at all.

You CANNOT make this stuff up. This is hysterical.

One other thing, I wonder if he will bring Ed Orgeron with him. If I remember correctly, he was at USC at the beginning of their dynasty and was responsible for a lot of their success in recruiting. I wonder how this bodes for Parker and Baxter.
