Kiffykins to USC
http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=4820737
Holy crap, yo. This just gets more and more interesting.
January 12th, 2010 at 8:32 PM ^
I think that 5 years from now, Tennessee will look back on this and breathe a sigh of relief...
January 12th, 2010 at 8:34 PM ^
Looks like a good fit for Kiffin. He'll fit right in at USC considering all the borderline recruiting practices he's already been involved with at Tennessee.
January 12th, 2010 at 9:22 PM ^
http://www.govolsxtra.com/news/2010/jan/12/espn-report-kiffin-southern-…
Wow.
I would not want to be associated with either of those schools right now.
January 12th, 2010 at 9:36 PM ^
Do 17 year old kids see Kiffin as the giant flaming douche nozzel that he is...or do they think he is cool?
January 12th, 2010 at 9:49 PM ^
I can't believe they're even surprised by this. Tennessee knew what they were getting into when they hired him, they just didn't want to believe it. Hate to say I told you so....
Also, I can't believe no one is mentioning Lane refusing to resign at Oakland stating he was hired to do a job and he was going to finish it. Poor Tennessee...
January 12th, 2010 at 11:08 PM ^
It sucks to see a guy treat recruits with this level of disrespect. Al Davis called him a "flat out liar" in past. I always thought Al Davis was a crazy old coot but I think he is likely correct.
January 12th, 2010 at 8:38 PM ^
fucking scumbag
January 12th, 2010 at 11:55 PM ^
He really rubbed people the wrong way from the get go. The students may be upset but there are a lot of Vols fans and prominent alumn who are not sad to see him go. If you remember there were many TN beat writers, media members, and prominent alumn who were calling for Kiffin to be fired before he even coached a game.
January 13th, 2010 at 12:06 AM ^
Have you ever been with someone whom you've thought about dumping.. yet he/she dumped you first before you had the chance to do it yourself?
January 12th, 2010 at 8:33 PM ^
That is all.
January 12th, 2010 at 9:56 PM ^
A few days ago. I thought I was fucking kidding! I almost put a sarcasm alert on the post. Shit. These are very strange times. The Fighting Creamsicles may be pissed today but real soon they are going to be pleased. Lane Kiffin is a scumbag. Wouldn't surprise me to hear one day that his blonde bombshell wife beat in his car windows with a golf club.
January 13th, 2010 at 12:14 AM ^
Continuing the tradition of USC coaches having a little somethin'-somethin' on the side? ;-)
January 12th, 2010 at 8:33 PM ^
we can start talking about Tennessee recruits up for grabs!
January 12th, 2010 at 10:11 PM ^
Would have run a good zone read spread offense.
January 12th, 2010 at 8:34 PM ^
What... the... fuck...
January 12th, 2010 at 8:34 PM ^
With the NCAA breathing down their neck. It would seem someone like Kiffin is the last thing USC needs right now. Kiffin lives right on the edge of recruiting violations.
January 12th, 2010 at 8:36 PM ^
get him. that would be awesome.
January 12th, 2010 at 8:58 PM ^
Douche bag coach and sketchy school = perfect match
Second thought ... Mike Taylor up for grabs.
If RR can pull in Baxter and Taylor from this weird coaching transition it would be HUGE!!
January 12th, 2010 at 9:16 PM ^
if Baxter had interest in Tennessee? I seem to remember something about this, but I hope I'm wrong. I would hate for the hiring of Kiffin at USC to be enough to placate Baxter and keep him there.
January 12th, 2010 at 8:36 PM ^
What is the over/under on the number of threads that will be started on this in th next 10 minutes despite the fact that only one is needed?
January 12th, 2010 at 10:09 PM ^
... I'll go with 3 today. But for the week (as rumors and new news trickle in) I'm going to say 45.
EDIT: This is why I don't set the odds in Vegas. We're already at 4. Geez...
January 12th, 2010 at 8:39 PM ^
and I'm on the over.
January 12th, 2010 at 8:36 PM ^
Uh...cool? I honestly don't know how to react to this 5-layer burrito of information
January 12th, 2010 at 8:39 PM ^
I heard Denise was Kiffin's agent. He's getting $0.89 burritos for life.
January 12th, 2010 at 8:36 PM ^
1. Kiffin is off his rocker.
2. Agree with rbgoblue, I have a hunch this is a long term win for Tennessee.
3. SC maybe isn't as concerned about sanctions as we thought to bring in someone who was in the middle of it all and has an impressive train of minor violations at Tennessee.
January 12th, 2010 at 8:37 PM ^
we have a new all-time leader on the d-bag scale. Congrats Lane that sure didn't take you long!
Dumping TENN after one season is un-real.
I wonder how Bill Belichick will react to losing his title?
January 12th, 2010 at 8:38 PM ^
First off Kiffykins? If I never read that again I wouldn't be upset haha. Second, like the poster above stated, which recruits can we steal? How many of you immediately went to Rivals upon hearing the news to see who we could pull? I know I did!
January 12th, 2010 at 8:50 PM ^
First off Kiffykins? If I never read that again I wouldn't be upset haha.
You must not read EDSBS much.
January 12th, 2010 at 8:40 PM ^
I think Lane Kiffin is an idiot in general (although I think Monte is quite good) so him going to USC is just great in my mind. Until I see him sign on the dotted line, however, I won't believe it.
I also agree with the above posters that if true this is a bad idea for a school that's already looking at the strong possibility of big NCAA sanctions and that Tennessee will eventually look at this as a big break for them.
January 12th, 2010 at 8:40 PM ^
I think USC's players just got a raise.
January 12th, 2010 at 8:54 PM ^
that is amazing.
January 12th, 2010 at 9:09 PM ^
I love it that the blue old lady is owning the red old lady.
January 12th, 2010 at 9:52 PM ^
I think that's scarlet...
January 12th, 2010 at 8:42 PM ^
From Kiffin's perspective: out of the frying pan, into the fire.
From USC's perspective: nabbed a tenacious recruiter who can import a strong staff, but, uh...
From my perspective: I don't really know. This almost seems like a punchline somehow.
Guess it'll be an interesting offseason if nothing else.
January 12th, 2010 at 8:41 PM ^
trueblue is right on. Get a heart shaped box of chocolates and head over to Michael Taylor's house.
January 12th, 2010 at 8:42 PM ^
got the big splash he wanted. now who thinks kiffin will be able to keep baxter
January 12th, 2010 at 8:42 PM ^
This sounds GREAT. You're under investigation for recruiting violations of the absolute worst kind, so you hire the guy who told a recruit he'd pump gas for the rest of his life if he went somewhere else and followed that up by opening his flap and shutting down his school's pipeline to one of the most talented high schools in one of the most talented states in the country. Not to mention the twenty gazillion secondary recruiting violations Tennessee had to self-report within two months of his hiring. I don't see how this could end badly at all.
You CANNOT make this stuff up. This is hysterical.
January 12th, 2010 at 8:42 PM ^
One other thing, I wonder if he will bring Ed Orgeron with him. If I remember correctly, he was at USC at the beginning of their dynasty and was responsible for a lot of their success in recruiting. I wonder how this bodes for Parker and Baxter.
January 12th, 2010 at 9:54 PM ^
It has been confirmed that Orgeron is coming with Kiffin to USC, along with Old Man Smell.
January 12th, 2010 at 8:43 PM ^
Mike Taylor, how do you feel about the University of Michigan?
January 12th, 2010 at 8:54 PM ^
i can has?
January 12th, 2010 at 8:43 PM ^
awesome!!!!!!
January 12th, 2010 at 8:43 PM ^
wonder if his dad stays on as head coach at Tenn - at least through signing day.
January 12th, 2010 at 8:50 PM ^
Monte is way too old and if boy wonder bolts there is now way TENN would have anything to do with anyone from that family.
January 12th, 2010 at 8:53 PM ^
said Monte is going with according to bruce feldman. was on the bottom line.
January 12th, 2010 at 8:53 PM ^
daddy is going with him to be the new d-cor.
January 12th, 2010 at 8:44 PM ^
Best Part: Ed Orgeron is coming with.
"I got a Hummah... You need a Hummah..."
