JH =/= JH

Enjoying watching the basketball team play, but Juwan Howard's halftime interview got me thinking.

Does anybody else wish Jim Harbaugh was a bit more like Howard? Speaking strictly on personality/demeanor here.

Now, this could be a reflection of the sour taste of multiple tough football seasons, and ofcourse Howard is the new, fresh face. But I do enjoy his calm, 'cool' demeanor. I guess I'm speaking mostly in terms of how he handles press/interviews, and just the way he speaks and the vibe he gives off.

This is completely unrelated to the fiery Harbaugh we need on the sidelines, because I personally love when he gets animated and shows emotion. But as far as press, interviews, etc. Harbaugh comes off very quirky, very odd. His answers and way of speaking usually seem a bit weird, in my opinion.

I also wonder if Harbaugh's quirkiness could lead to a disconnect with players. It already seems like Howard is very connected and has a relatability factor with his players.

I'm not saying Harbaugh has or could lose the locker room, but I have wondered why his teams don't usually seem fiery and wondered how willing the team really was to go to battle for the coach.

Just my thoughts.

while i agree that this thread is shit, i don't fully understand what makes this one different from half the other threads on the board that get upvoted but are essentially just people exposing their aimless inner monologues to the public like they were a flasher at a park.

I don’t care about personality unless they’re an asshole. If our coach is not an asshole on or off the court, they can be as demonstrative, reserved, enthusiastic, fiery, composed etc as they want to be. How someone is with the media is also not an indicator of how they are behind closed doors with their team.

I kinda wish Harbaugh was a little more like Betty White. Not in sideline demeanor or in interviews or really at all but just old as shit because....well no reason at all. Good stuff.

Harbaugh was one of the shittiest plays in sports history away from being 10-1 to start his career. I would even say he was a much bigger relief at the time saving us from a near decade of disaster. Jury is still out but both are good. Basketball starts in March to a certain extent. College football starts in the first week. We shall see how we progress.

I don’t think anyone can deny that Harbaugh is a weird guy. I’m sure players and recruits notice he’s a little odd and he’s not the kind of guy you would just want to hang out with outside of football, but he lives for football. He knows football. He’s beyond passionate about Michigan football and I’m sure players and recruits notice that as well.

He’s our weird coach and will be as long as he wants to be. Also, Juwan is the definition of cool. It’s not fair to compare Harbaugh or anyone to him in regards to coolness.

"he's beyond passionate about Michigan football" --- Soooooo that means he should remain the Michigan head coach ROFLMFAO...

I loved listening to Bob Ufer, he had a passion for Michigan Football that was second to none, but I wouldn't have wanted him coaching on the sidelines (maybe giving the speech in the locker room but that's all).

"he's our weird coach and will be as long as he wants to be"... and that's your problem right there. The only unconditional love in this universe should be a parent loving/caring for a child, it's not inverse, nor is spousal love unconditional... but holy fuck you idiots are giving JH the unconditional love even after he's been used like a cheap whore by OSU every year he's been here.

I still remember back in the day after the App State game, people calling for Carr's head to roll. He was the only coach to give this University an NC in the modern era, had a better bowl record than Bo, and showed a hell of a lot of poise. Actually I believe car would be more successful now than ever. But yeah, lets keep the wack-job on the sidelines who can't make up his mind on schemes, and constantly gets out coached by OSU.... outcoached by a 41yr old recently (just a baby) at his first HC job.

Same 9-3 team will show up next year, same horrible QB play, questionable RB play, and an a he'll look bewildered on the sidelines.

Our 2019 Record: 9-4

No...I like Jim Harbaugh for who he is and I like Juwan Howard for who he is.  Let's stop trying to make everyone the same and instead enjoy what's unique about them.
