Harbaugh "Dirty Jobs" Quote Says it All:
"I know they like to work and I know they like to compete," Harbaugh said of his team Saturday. "They don't mind doing the dirty work and they enjoy each other's company.
"You start getting that ... and I don't know, maybe the sky's the limit. Who knows? Just move on with a humble heart and keep grinding."

They have a very solid staff...too many fluff pieces, but that's their audience I suppose.
There message board is Eleven Warriors/RCMB bad. The really should mod it better, but I suppose the 12-14 year olds need a board too.

"It's coming," Harbaugh said Saturday afternoon, less than an hour after his team humiliated No. 22 BYU, 31-0, at Michigan Stadium. "It's coming together."
I like it because this seems typically Harbaugh. His team soundly beats a ranked team 31-0, and it is "coming together". When it comes together then, "wow" potentially, but then that's the idea, right?

I wonder if that Harbaugh quote was inspired by a Nicki Minaj tweet.
When I googled the OP's quote, the following tweet showed up:
Stay humble, stay low, stay on the grind. God is good. ALL the time. Whatever your mind CAN see, your eyes WILL see. #believe
— NICKI MINAJ (@NICKIMINAJ) May 8, 2013
IIRC, Harbaugh tweeted at Nicki Minaj earlier this year.

It is just inspiring to read how Coach Harbaugh approaches competition, hard work, etc. I am not saying this because we beat BYU.
Sky is the limit, indeed. Beat Sparty and Buckeyes, boys!

This.
I also think a common desire to be good is driving this team. They no longer want to be a laughing stock. They want to be remembered as a good Michigan team.

Seriously, though, intangibles like relationships, confidence, and common vision matter so much in all organizations.

I believe his point was the distinction between "BC," which we all learned in elementary school, and "BCE," which is the newer politically correct counterpart.

Your Greek reference mostly took place in Sparta...
September 27th, 2015 at 10:04 AM ^
Actually, pederasty was quite common in the classical Hellenic period. The Spartans were known for taking it way too far.

Sure they did. Both were Athenians who were Spartan sympathizers at a time when Athens was engaged in a series of hot and cold wars with Sparta. Despite what schoolkids are told, Socrates was put on trial because his former students overthrew the Athenian democracy and instituted a Spartan-style oligarchy on two different occasions. Alcibiades, another of Socrates former students, defected to Sparta and fought with them against Athens.

I love this team. Look forward to watching them keep improving week to week. Defense might actually be great.

Yes, it has really come together quickly. All I would add is that we have had sub-decent play from the QB. Imagine what this team can be if we are getting "really good" play from the QB.

I thought when I saw this thread that Harbaugh was quoting the Norm McDonald movie. It seems appropriate:
Mitch: There are two kinds of people in this world: those who get stomped, and those that do the stomping.
Kathy: Where'd you come up with that theory?
Mitch: Some famous guy said it. What's his name? Uh...oh yeah: Jesus!

"I'm starting to know our team," adds Harbaugh. "And I'm liking what I'm knowing."
That's not a trivial quote. Think of some of the teams Harbaugh has "known" at Stanford and the 49ers.
This is becoming a Harbaugh team, and much faster than I thought it would after watching them sputter against Utah.
September 27th, 2015 at 9:27 AM ^
a team that hung 62 on one of the programs in the NC game last year and Michigan State's best opponent by far.
September 27th, 2015 at 11:27 AM ^
Yeah, none of us knew that at the time of the loss. I thought their offense looked pretty anemic when we played them.
Turns out, we had something to do with that.
September 27th, 2015 at 9:40 AM ^
And it's also not the only time he's said something like this...I believe.
September 27th, 2015 at 10:05 AM ^
The quote is also not trivial because it says that the team had to prove themselves to Harbaugh. Harbaugh seems to command that sort of reaction. Which appears to be a change from the last regime that seemed to take the team where they were, not ask them to prove themselves, and then even asked the fans to prove themselves to the team.

Have been awfully positive, encouraging, and it's not just coachspeak. He's not promising anything - but he's gone out of his way to talk about how he likes the progress...it's something I've picked up on but had to see for myself.
We're a solid football team and they built a foundation this fall that is noticable.
September 27th, 2015 at 10:19 AM ^
BYU coach Mendenhall after rattling off the names of 5-7 players who left the game hurt:
"They are a big, physical, tough football team and our injuries reflected that."
It is a fine morning.
