HAPPY JOHN COOPER DAY (2-10...get it?)

Submitted by LickReach on February 10th, 2024 at 2:14 AM

This is a holiday I learned from Brian. He has a very college story about its true origins. Us pleb chatters can celebrate John Cooper's futility against Michigan. Again, a happy 2-10 to all.

Brilliant post.

So 3-9 is happy end of Mork/MSU day?

13-0 is like Neverland, the date- our we can someday close our eyes and follow our wishes and imagine it all over again.

Thank you for the reminder. As an undergraduate from 1990-1994 I get all warm & fuzzy remembering I was there for 0-3-1 of that record capped off with a beauty of a 28-0 spanking in the cold November rain.

oh SHOOT here i go again GAH

We've been through this such a long, long time
Just tryna beat the Maize, ooh yeah
But coaches always come and coaches always go
And no one's really sure who's lettin' go today, walkin' away
If we could beat the shame by winning one more Game

I could rest my head, just knowin' O-S-U’s fine, all mine

So, if you want to fire me
Then, darlin', don't refrain
Then I'll just end up walkin'
In the cold November rain

I was working with an intern from Toledo who was a Detroit Tigers fan and also Ohio fan. She was working in our department Fall 1992 when UM tied Ohio 13-13. At work the following Monday, she was ecstatic about a TIE. That's the despair of Coop's days :>)

I agree based on how the offseason had transpired.  We have no reason to gloat and may reap our karmic rewards the next time we meet the Buckeyes. Seems more like we just crossed the finish line and the wheels immediately fell off. Certainly glad to have had the national championship season but we have not parlayed that run of success into anything resembling a momentum builder. This is no time to emulate Ryan Day and company and hold fast to arrogance,
