In case you didn't read it, its an article based on a tweet from Josh Henschke, followed by the usual arguments that Signgate should have been a nothing burger.

Granted I've never negotiated for a personal contract ~10 million/year.  But why is this so hard?  The dude is worth $20 million/year to UM football if he's worth a dime. This is one of the richest school's in America.  Find out whatever the Top coach in America gets and give Jim 5% more.  No buyout if he goes pro. Make his assistant salary pool top 5, and ink up the pen.

I have virtually no confidence in anything I read from insiders anymore (and never really did - my blog fandom life started in the early 2000s with Tom Beaver, yikes!), but I certainly hope everything in there is true!

Co-signed.

I guess the positives out of the whole signgate nonsense are:

1. We now KNOW the rest of the B1G and most of college football really do hate us.  I mean before this I'd think it but then I'd be "oh, dont be so paranoid, not everybody hates Michigan"  Well guess what, they freaking DO hate us.

2. "Insiders" dont know sweet dick all more than anybody here.  They pretend they do so you'll buy subscriptions to their insider newsletter but at the end of the day they're just guessing like the rest of us.  I mean when I hear an ad on the radio for crazy Eddie's Monday night lock of the week that goes "call my recorded line for the absolute winner in tonight's game between the Bears & the Vikings.  I'm now 11-0 on Monday night and I've never felt better about a pick than i do tonight.  Call my recorded line for the winning play."  Well that's how everyone should see the various "insiders", like crazy Eddie, are all completely full of shit.

You know, I used to feel this way. But the last 10 years or so of regular news has taught me one very big thing. These reporters aren't just making shit up generally. Someone has told them this. Someone who is or represents themselves as "in the know". It's that person you have to identify the agenda of.

The reporter is just naively, or likely not naively, passing along the information because wrong information sells just as well as right information.

I assume almost all of the contract talk is just people on the inside who know a contract exists, and could be signed, but haven't the foggiest why it hasn't been. It's not bad pub for M and Harbaugh to keep that contract in the news so no harm no foul right now.

This article makes a good argument on why the signgate is stupid. Well, it seems like we will find out about NCAA findings this week. I am sure they will wait until Friday evening to release it. Regardless UM has 90 days to respond. Hopefully, it says nothing there and move on.

Get the contract done already.
