Out of curiosity does anyone know when Rivals is scheduled to update their ratings again? I have a feeling there are at least a couple of Michigan commits who will get a bump whenever they decide to do that.

Saw the three of them today at Angelos with Mama Gwen, DJ Durkin, and what I'm assuming we're his wife and little girl. Lots of smiles and laughs at the table.

Starting to get worried about our class as a whole. If Harbaugh keeps dishing out offers to these 2-3 stars guys, how are we going to find room for the 4-5 stars guys we NEED. Neg away, but I expected much more from the recruiting side of things with Harbaugh. I understand he can develop these kids into GOOD players, but we need the guys who are already good and turn them into GREAT players.

Yes, we NEED 4/5 stars. We HAVE to get them. Because a lack of 4/5 stars is what brought Hoke to his doom.

Your comment is idiotic. These kids might already be "good", just because they're 2/3 stars doesn't mean they're not. Just because someone's a 4/5 star doesn't mean that they're good or will eventually be great. Life isn't NCAA 15.

The good thing is no one cares about what you expected from Harbaugh

Man, you sound ignorant. Hoke wasn't fired because of the guys he recruited, he was fired because he couldn't coach. I hate how some of you guys need to point out the fact that Hoke recruited so well, and how it didn't work out, the man couldn't coach!

You're proving my point exactly. Hoke had all the talent in the world and had a losing record because he couldn't coach.

Jim Harbaugh can coach. That's a fact. So even if he doesn't have the same talent level, like he didn't have at Stanford, he can still lead an elite team. And that's assuming that because these kids are 3 stars they are automatically less talented than 4/5 stars. Which generally is true. But if Harbaugh is taking 3 stars this early on in the recruiting cycle, I'd bet it's because Harbaugh thinks they're talented. Just as talented if not more than some 4/5 stars. Harbaugh isn't just going to offer kids based on their star level, that's stupid recruiting.

Does that mean that all these kids are actually better than their ranking and will all be superstars? No. Some won't develop, some Harbaugh will have missed on. But some coaches, like Mark Dantonio for example, have proven they have great eyes for under recruited players. And I have faith Harbaugh is the same.

Trust me, you sound ignorant, not me. Anyone who believes a player is only as talented as their recruiting ranking is ignorant.

I see what you're saying with all of the news we hear about with guys like Gary, Kelly, Davis just to name a few be so interested that they're likely to end up in the class. But I also think as a first year coach, Harbaugh needs to establish pipelines in places where UM doesn't usually get recruits. Plus, they seem athletic and strong with high ceilings, so I don't have a problem with it as long as we get the five stars later

At the end of the day, it sounds like this is going to be a class of about 25 players??? If that ends up being correct., there's a lot of room for the 4 and 5 stars. Harbaugh is working his butt off to find players to fill the rest of the class.

keep in mind Harbaugh and the staff have been around a lot of high level athletes. They know what they are looking for and they are offering these kids after watching them go through full drills and personal workouts. It's much more than just looking at film, stats, and offer lists. I know we have limited spots and several potential super stars with Michigan high on their list but I think Jim knows what he wants.

- Build a foundation early with gritty kids with no egos who get it done.

- Win games & develop the roster, which will entice recruits. We have to put ourselves in a position to stop selling hope & the past, and start selling results.

...then we will be able to bring in the big-time talent year in, year out.

Take Recruiting services with a grain of salt. Just becuz a kid has 4 stars doesn't guarantee anything. Most of the time the star indicates the amount of HYPE player is receiving. You'll see all these guys shoot up the boards and start to get offer after offer. Harbaugh can evaluate talent. Look what he did at SD and Stanford, not exactly schools known for their ability to "self-recruit"! Furthermore, the staff we have has been SEVERELY under appreciated on many levels. Don't think for one minute JH is just "pulling the trigger" left and right. As Will Ferrell used to say while impersonating George W. Bush..."strategery"!

Ive always believed that this years class would be good and the real stud class would be next years after relationships have been built and wins have been produced

Harbaugh's record at Stanford WITHOUT Andrew Luck (aka top3 QB in the world) was 8-15.  I'm guessing Luck helps make the 2-3* work out.

Granted he's won everywhere, but we tend to forget about one of the best QBs leading him to great seasons.

You act like he was a lowly regarded scrub along the lines of Drew Brews. He wasn't. He carried a similiar grade to one Tom Brady, another four star.

Btw, the three best NFL players on UM's 97' National Title team were four stars or above. Woodson, Hutch, and Brady. So was Backus. Concidence?
