Cleveland.com really hopes we got it right
For a group of fans who did everything possible to destroy/discredit Michigan's football program this past year, they "really hope we got it right" with Sherrone Moore, "for the sake of the rivalry."

The "way too early line" for The Game in Columbus is Ohio State over Michigan by 6.5 points.
Stroud is on the NFL All Pro team as a rookie. McCord was certainly good enough to win in Ann Arbor this past November. I think bringing in Howard will be "a half step back" at the QB position - but, Howard is a stronger threat to run.
The Buckeyes MUST win on November 30th - they've put all of their eggs in that basket - their chips (between $13 and $35 M) have been pushed in on NIL.
The Bucks schedule has two "tougher" games. They host Akron, Western Michigan, and Marshall in their OOC. With their game at Oregon being the most notable matchup. They host Iowa and travel to Penn State.
I cannot imagine what would happen there if Michigan makes it four in a row.
Go Blue!

OSU has just 3 regulation wins against Michigan since 2015. When we play in November, it'll have been 5 full years since their most recent one. Not sure why anyone would pay attention to or take advice from fans of a team with so little success lately.

Don't care. Won't click. Won't drop any $$ in the state of ohio. When traveling, I fly over whenever possible. When I must drive through, I gas up in Michigan by the state line then after I'm out of ohio. I WILL stop and pis or take a dump on the state whether nature calls or not. Fuck 'em. GO BLUE!!!

The Buckeye version of "for the sake of the rivalry" is so fucking condescending....and hilarious from a fanbase that said these things with disingenuous concern when we were down, but when we beat them three times in a row, they had the temerity to do everything to discount the achievement. We corrected the problem that they laid out and then they refused to acknowledge that we had solved it, in essence.
Such an insufferable lot, they really are.

Maybe that's why they hired a crap coach- "for the sake of the rivalry"

I really do love how loaded up they are next year - the rivalry needed a storyline better than "Michigan kicks their ass again" - now we get to be the underdog coach seeking to establish himself against Mr Burns' Springfield Nuclear Power Plant softball team.
We're still going to kick their ass again, but once again with a narrative!

Sake of the rivalry? Why do they care about Rutgers?

I really hope Cleveland.com gets something right.
For the sake of the children.

Those guys are some of the more sane Ohio commentators I have listened to. After every win in The Game the last three years I've tuned into as many Ohio podcasts as I could to enjoy listening to the tears of our enemies, but the Cleveland.com guys were the least fun because they were the least nuts.

Maybe they sent payments to Warde to make sure Harbaugh would leave.

I'd be pretty nervous if I were OSU.
This is an "all in" season for them. They've convinced people they have to spend a ton of money to win. They've spent the money.
But, if they don't win that one game in November, it will all fall apart.
The Coach will be fired, and who knows what the players will do.
Honestly, it would be so glorious.

I think they need to win it all to be justified, obviously that starts with beating Michigan but given how they've gone "all in" on the portal and NIL anything shy of a national championship is gonna be seen as a failure (at least by their fans).

We have a truly glorious opportunity here. The panicked delusion coming from Columbus is something that scientists can study for years if we can stretch this win streak to five, six or seven games. When there is no outlet for this kind of crazy, and all it can do is continue to stew upon itself for months and months on end, the results can go in a number of explosive directions. And I am popping the popcorn for it.

Really hope they can make more excuses to keep Ryan Day after they lose next year.
January 31st, 2024 at 1:04 PM ^
Why would anyone here care what Cleveland. com thinks about Michigan's head coaching hire? That city has enough sports disasters to keep it busy for a while.
January 31st, 2024 at 1:08 PM ^
The pressure is all on OSU imo. Given how bad the situation Michigan faces now apparently is, I think Ryan Day has absolutely no excuse to not just beat Michigan in Columbus in November but to crush them.
It's a funny situation where Michigan is the defending national champions, but really all the expectation and pressure rests on that team in that cowtown in central Ohio.

They're nervous about Sheronne's recruiting. As they should be

What’s a bigger threat to the future of the rivalry: a coach who is already 1-0 against OSU, or OSU firing their money cannon and putting together the best team money can buy?
January 31st, 2024 at 1:23 PM ^
Because it worked so well for Texas A&M right? Oh wait...
January 31st, 2024 at 1:29 PM ^
That was dumber than I expected (I read the archived link posted above). You should feel bad for posting it.

I am impressed that the Buckeye "This rivalry is boring if we just win all the time" narrative survived getting hammered three years in a row, ruining their post-season 2 out of 3 times, shutting them out of the B1G championship three times. Very resilient.
January 31st, 2024 at 1:42 PM ^
The guy who wrote that is a jackass. He beat the drum on the Connor Stallions thing, and is always saying snarky things about Michigan. A lower lowlife than the average sports reporter/Buckeye fan.

Doug Lesmerises was decent, I thought. Though - he left Cleveland.com.

He was a huge OSU homer. Did not realize he has left. Good riddance.

The Mistake on the Lake has no opinion that matters to humanity. Every person I’ve met that grew up in/around The Cleve has an irrational fear of ever stepping foot within the boundaries of Detroit. You could replace “irrational” with a different word, but I’ll try to avoid the fringes of politics (this is what we’ve come to…).

I threw up in my mouth a little reading that garbage.

I’m just happy that they continue to get it right with that little bitch they have

They've literally already won the game in their minds. These people are hilarious.

Since we are talking about Ohio, I want to ask something in this thread instead of starting a new one.
I have asked this three or four times now, and nobody seems to respond.
Can anyway please tell me what the hell happened with the information given to the NCAA regarding the OSU/Rutgers/Indiana collusion regarding Michigan's signs? Was this just thrown under the bus or is there actually something being done?
February 1st, 2024 at 9:24 AM ^
Hilarious take. I genuinely thought the "wreckage in Tuscaloosa" he was talking about was going to be Bama's defensive line--you know, the one our new head coach's unit pushed all over the field last month?
February 1st, 2024 at 1:42 PM ^
That's a pretty HOT TAKE from a team who isn't even sure they got their OWN most recent coach hire correct "for the sake for the sake of the rivalry"
