I am strongly suspicious that many Buckeyes realized that Matta had no chance, and so they crossed over and voted for Painter just to stop Michigan. How else would you explain how low Matta's votes are?

It's not only Ohio State fans who are voting against John Beilein, it's Michigan State, Notre Dame and Purdue fans (who properly support their coach), and it's also the West Virginia fans who still have Bob Huggins in the race. It's five schools against one!

After Tom Izzo and Mike Brey were eliminated, where do you think the Michigan State and Notre Dame fans went?  If they stayed in the voting, they were voting for Matt Painter.  Similarly, with Thad Matta fading rapidly, Ohio State fans who continued to vote had their all-too-obvious choice for their votes.

This voting has nothing to do with the merits of the ChadTough Foundation's mission or John Beilein's character.  This voting has been purely anti-Michigan.  For Michigan State fans, it's the home-state antagonism.  For Notre Dame fans, it's the home-state favoritism. For Ohio State fans . . . do you really need to wonder about their motivation?

Perhaps if West Virginia's Bob Huggins hadn't made the Final Four, there'd be some West Virginia fans who would be voting for their former coach; but even that wouldn't have been a guarantee.

For John Beilein to win this, Michigan fans will have to start voting with an enthusiasm unknown to mankind.

I just retweeted the Moe Wagner ChadTough appeal that I linked to last evening's thread about voting. Please, anything we can do to spread the word on social media, let's take that step. Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, whateverand wherever you log in (even MySpace or Xanga)...

for one cause over the other seems weird.  The charity that Painter is supporting is searching for the cure for a terrible disease.  Making this a Michigan vs. Purdue or Ohio State thing is weird to me.  Vote for the charity, not the coach or the school.  At the end of the day, one of these deserving charities is going to get a big donation and that is great.
