Bluey

I do not want to give this guy more oxygen.

this board is nearly unreadable because of his posts.  Maybe if everyone stops replying/commenting he will go away?  It is useless to try and have a reasonable conversation.  I come to this site to read and be entertained on all things U of M related; it is no longer fun.

as I stated earlier, this site needs a ‘mute’ or ‘ignore’ feature.  Mods, my guess is people are going to stop coming here if this is not dealt with.

this is just my personal opinion

I had read, somewhere, that MGoBoard is dappled with insider comments. But after being here 2 months, I can see that was wrong. Maybe it was that at some time in the past. But now it is dominated by negativity, with a chance of insider stuff, like a 1% chance.

Too many commentors are obsessed with finding any fault, real, or mostly perceived.

I feel opposite, everyone of his posts is a new opportunity for me to remind him that I'm rooting for every kid that commits no matter what other sites say about them.......cuz it's a FAN blog!

And I love showing how much better of a fan I am than him.

You guys have lost it. He's an indictment of all of you that he gets you so worked up on a sports blog. You took someone who was likely just a pessimist and antagonized him to the point where I'm sure he enjoys his new role as dedicated troll and you feed it even more. Just like Maizen and those before him. I'm a big Bluey fan.

This is just my personal opinion.

He's not like Maizen, he is Maizen.

His negative opinions can be grating, but his self-conscious and hostile style has been a part of his act from the beginning. This is not some new development.

You are, of course, perfectly entitled to like him. The stuff he blasts around (I think I just miss some of it, but then, I'm not looking for stuff to annoy myself with) certainly makes for entertainment in a deadly train-wreck kind of way.

I think posts like this are just as stupid as one of his threads. This is literally a post accomplishing the opposite of what it pleads in the OP by giving him the oxygen that he thrives on.

Ignoring is easier than ever with collapsible threads. That's probably the best option.

On a serious note, maybe he is Maizen, but either way they both started the same way. Pessimists who I think made legitimate points but for whatever reason continually focused their posts on criticisms. Still it wasn't absurd irrational trolling like McFarlin, yet the posts drew such extreme hostility that I think board made them into the villain they wanted him to be, and then he/they gladly obliged to take on that role.

Personally, I'll never understand how questioning the 2018 recruiting class and in-state recruiting in 2019 makes people want to say things like "I hate you," but I guess I'm in the minority. And since I know Maizen/Bluey doesn't give a shit if people hate him, I find it all the more entertaining.

So you like when people $hit on 17 year old kids on the biggest day of their lives?  How dare they commit to Michigan so they can spend 4 - 5 years of their life working their tails off for our entertainment. /s

i can guarantee you that 90% or the kids and their families are reading the Hello post after their commitment.  So yes, I think that it is over the top for a Michigan fan blog to allow that behavior.

If people enjoy pissing and moaning about the coaches, AD, donors, recruiting in a thread, fine - but don’t $hit on kids on the biggest day of their lives.  I would ban anyone who goes over the top on Hello post.

Who's Bluey?

I honestly hardly pay attention to whoever is making any comment, and I have an internal ignore button that allows me to not pay attention to silly things posted on the internet.

I am a daily reader of this blog. I rarely post because there are plenty of  posters here that are way more informed then I am. Maizen er I mean Bluey adds to this Blog. I never agree with him/her but I can appreciate the different prospective. Quit complaining about posts you don't like and this will be a better blog. I also suggest you pass over anything written by Bluey.

Bluey doesn’t add anything to this blog. Not a single thing. He is a troll. He was wrong about everything back when he was Maizen and instead of owning up to it, he made a new name and says the exact same thing, he just switched over to football now. He brings zero good points to the blog, he only repeats his biased viewpoint and then presents himself as a martyr when people question him. Unless you think a guy who trust recruiting website reporters more than coaches (yep, he said that a couple days ago) is bringing some awesome new perspective

Honest opinion. Bluey/maizen whatever his name is, he's right about a lot the stuff he says. His timing is just shit. Complaining about recruiting on a Hello Post isn't great. The consistency of which he complains is what seems to get to you guys. I honestly don't have a problem with his content and I hope the mods don't ban him. His smoking hawt takes have nuggets of truth in them and this board is pathetically sensitive to them.

Agreed.  I think a lot of people get so riled up by his comments because, deep down, they agree with a lot of his posts and they agree that things aren't so hunky dory right now (at least recruiting wise), even if they don't want to admit it.  Granted Bluey beats you over the head with it, but what he says isn't necessarily incorrect.

There might be some truth in there, to a degree, but there's several problems that make people just flat out hate him.

  1. He uses ad hominem attacks the second he starts losing
  2. His tone is that of a complete and utter pessimistic asshole that takes everything to the most negative extreme. My professor of public speaking always taught us that the tone and presentation of your message was just as important as the content itself. If you want people to listen to your point, regardless of how hawt it might be, you can't come off as a total asshat.
  3. He takes something that might be true and presents it as absolute, irrefutable fact, rather than just his thoughts
  4. He insinuates a lot of things by the tone of how he writes, but leaves it just vague enough to use plausible deniability and is able to quasi-gasllight what he said in many instances

My issue with him, beyond the asshole petulance and limited value of his posts (which are as often as not incorrect factually or contextually misleading), is that he doesn't take his lumps when he's wrong.  Nobody thinks Michigan is doing fantastically, but to dwell in the negative the way he does is annoying and petulant.   He used to shit constantly on Beilein, stopped when they made their first run, then complained once they struggled a bit, then was quiet again the past two years when they started to win.  He would question the coaches, the players, make veiled references to recruiting possibly having racial undertones, etc.  So he never enjoyed the positive but was quick to complain about the negative.

Also, he made a post today to shit on a kid looking to commit.  It's a bad look for the site and a shitty thing to do to a teenager committing to a school you claim to like.

But this has been an issue for a couple weeks now and the mods haven't done anything, so my guess is they don't really care all that much in the short term.  To me, MGoBlog is fun because it's pretty optimistic, and when someone is an asshole for the sake of it, that's a downer and makes the place less enjoyable for no real gain.

In summary: It's not so much the message people can't stand - it's the messenger.

And you know he's reading all these posts and just eating it up, right? He's getting exactly what he wants - attention. And if he has to become MGoBlog's Dick-in-Residence to get it, it's a small price to pay.
