Best Place To Watch Game in NYC?
Hello all,
I will now be in NYC Saturday evening for the game. We are staying in the Chelsea area of Manhattan. Does anyone have any suggestions of an "M" friendly establishment to watch the game?
Thanks in advance!
oh what a time

In town from Atlanta this weekend - wanted to find a decent place to watch other than my hotel- thanks a ton!
Professor Thom's.

If you are relatively "young" and dont mind mixing with people who simulate a ruckus youthful venue then Professor Thom is the place for you. If you are looking for a more laid back venue then I would suggest elsewhere.
Barleycorn, Prof. Thoms, Triona's on 3rd

and quick response.
These threads are always so much fun.

The flip side is we are not in the final four and nobody is making these threads. This is the price we pay for success and I am sure everybody will put up with "where can I watch" threads this time of the year all the time.
Make a reservation, or you'll be standing the whole time

They did a reservation lottery for the FSU game and are continuing through the Final Four. They booked the entire bar within minutes of opening it up for A&M.
Totally a stretch here but going to be in luxurious Birmingham, AL for a softball tourney this weekend. I checked the M Bar Finder sticky and didn't see anything but just curious if anyone knows of an M friendly bar in Birmingham and/or just a general good sports bar? Thanks all!

There's no real M bar and it depends on the area of town. If downtown, I'd recommend Paramount - cool bar and very good food (depsite being owned by Buckeyes). If in Lakeview, my dive bar is Brown's - where I've converted many to the cause. If out in the burbs for your softball tournament, the best chance is one of several BWWs.

Thanks! Appreciate that info! You going to be at Brown's on Saturday? There's quite a few of us in town, we might just swing by there.

Definitely. I'll be the only one sporting Maize and Blue.
I mean this as a genuine question. Obviously, there are quite a few places mentioned in the bar sticky in regards to places to watch a game in NYC but what's wrong if someone is somewhere random and wants to know if someone knows of a great place to watch a game? (aka my comment above about Birmingham). I'm sure they get posted here more than folks would like but I guess I just don't see why they're frowned upon so much.
Considering there is a list of all the places to watch, these threads are completely unnecessary. Not to mention, a simple google search for Michigan alumni association of New York would answer this question in about two minutes.
Doesn’t matter though, we’ll get no less than 15 more of these before the game Saturday.

Do what most everyone else does--PRETEND to be a Michigan grad.
And a gadabout who travles the world, always "coincidentally" when something Big is going on.
Only if you shop at Walmart.

For me, it's a combination of a few things -
1) We're all over the world - quite literally - at Michigan, so these threads sometimes get going and don't seem to quit, with some people asking about the same location once in a while in separate threads. More simply, the normal failure of some to do their due diliengence in the first place. Especially in a high-activity / high-traffic time like this week, having a lot of these threads will push things off the page. See #4 for the undercard to this item.
2) The snark that these threads bring, while sometimes hilarious, spills into other threads or becomes the subject of a separate, purely satirical thread which ultimately becomes clutter as well.
3) I tried allowing blanket threads for several weeks in 2016 - "Where To Watch The Game In (Your Location Here)?" so there could be a central repository each week, but see #1 and #2 for details on how THAT ultimately went.
4) There's a fairly exhaustive (but possibly not comprehensive) list of meetup locations on the AAUM website for various regions around the country and around the world, and a good 80% of the time at least, those places are mentioned in whichever thread depending on where that person will be.
Go to Old Town bar for the wings. I don't even know if they have televisions because my face was buried in the wings.

If you're over 25, I would avoid Prof. Thom's. Great bar/drinks/food when at normal capacity, but if it is anything like F4 vs Syracuse in 2013, you will be confined to a space smaller than your body's footprint and unable to move or get to the bathroom for 3 hours.

How about the guy floating in space in Elon Musk's old Corvette? How the hell is he supposed to watch?
And he's a Michigan Alum, of course.

I love Diag Bar & Grill on Southport. Easily my favorite in Chicago. Duffy's can be fun but also gets a little messy but I bet for the Final Four, that would be a blast.
