When NC vs. GT is your best FOOTBALL game, it's hard to get excited. The afternoon looks like a better warm up to tonight's events.

After seeing ND 3 weeks straight, Tuitt and Nix are faaaaar from being first rounders. If MSU's perennially terrible OL is dominating you, you've got some work to do.

This may be a bit of talking out of my ass, and I haven't read throuhg all of the comments which will most likely be obvious, but I've been a bit impressed and/or surprised at Sparty's offense today.  Granted, I haven't watched play-by-play as I've been watching multiple games but I'm going to claim that they're going to be typical Sparty this year.  The pushover theme that was going on based on their offense being completely terrible I think is over.  They're coming into form and frankly that sucks; they'll be a legitimate opponent.

It is not because of their offense though. Their defense will likely keep them in most games, just like last year. They still only have about 150 yards of offense in this game though, that is still pretty terrible. UM had more yards against ND through not even two quarters.

Edit: They have 165 yards so far, averaging 3.9 yards per pass and 3.5 yards a rush. That is still terrible anyway you slice it.

True.  And to the points above, you all may be right in that we've/I've been a bit conditioned to think their offense is otherwordly bad when maybe it's only just bad.

I guess though I've been impressed by some of their running backs/runs and their QB is also hitting more marks than I expected.  Caveats apply for sure.

And now they toss up a terrible trick play pass, go figure.

before we head up to East Lansing. We need to start winning there again! I don't want to be out muscled bullied again by lil brother!  Don't understand why our higher recruited lineman can't break into the starting unit. MSU OL in manhandling that fearsome ND DL? I don't get it!

Caveat: transitive property doesn't apply in sports but it seems like we are all trying to draw conclusions on us with this game anyway so whatever. MSU's defense is legit and tough. We pretty much knew this anyway. Their offense is better than what it was but we did much better against the ND D then that are currently. Their D is stronger than ours and our O is better than theirs it just depends by what degree on GameDay. They seem to be legitimate contenders in our division but it doesn't matter much because they will play us tough whether they are a 10-2, 11-1 type team or a 5-7, 6-6 type.

Sparty's O line is doing a much better job of keeping Cook clean than ours did.  I think they have 2TEs and the RB blocking though.  So its apples to oranges - they want to make Cook beat them with his arm, and we can see, based on that last pick, that it is working.

Nice to see MSU actually getting called for being overly-physical. They do this every game and tend to get away with it most of the time. Bout time it caught up to them
