06/29/2018 - 2:46pm Speaking of things and such…

Speaking of things and such regarding the board, how the heck do you start a new thread? I figured it'd be a good idea to post this:

03/29/2018 - 1:24pm Started

I remember when he started at shooting guard in 2012-13 to start the year and after like 2 games was immediately stapled to the bench in favor of Stauskas and eventually skinny Levert

02/11/2018 - 10:42pm Hot Take Incoming:

I dont think anything that has judges is truly a sport.

And yes, the way that some officials can exert influence over a game in basketball, etc.... it's borderline for me

Bad title is bad

11/29/2017 - 10:03am Davidson

My school, Davidson, plays UNC on Friday.  Im looking for the rare back-to-back double win from my two teams over the same school in the same week.  Ideally, Michigan would humiliate and tire the Heels out so much that Davidson can dagger some threes en route to a huge win.

11/24/2017 - 1:03pm Movie

@Salvatore What movie are you planning to see?

10/08/2017 - 1:22pm Jed Fisch

I think we are really missing Jed Fisch, and I really don't think he got enough credit for what he did for this program.....

10/07/2017 - 11:22pm Not bad!

If there's any positive it was the punting and kicking. Really well done by Michigan in some nasty stuff. I'd give it a A-

08/05/2017 - 9:44pm I've met this guy's dad! His

I've met this guy's dad! His dad is a former Northwestern player who played for the falcons for some time and owns a couple wine stores in my area of the north atlanta suburbs.

His dad always said he wanted his kids to get a good education, and they liked it up north - add in Michigan's winning program and this is as good as it gets. Definitely a family that was okay sending a kid to M!!!!! Great family, great guy.

Side note, he goes to the high school that was the rival of mine.  Grrrrrrrrrr

03/19/2017 - 3:03pm A10 Basketball

I cover Atlantic 10 basketball, so hopefully I can provide a little insight into Rhode Island.  The best Big Ten comparison I can draw is Minnesota.  They don't shoot the three particurally well, and do most of their damage inside. Of course, they dont have as a dominant big man like Minnesota does, but they are still dangerous.  When URI gets hot from three, which is rare, but it happens, they can beat anyone because they still get theirs in the paint. They have guards in EC Matthews and Kuran Iverson that can take games over. They are athletic and long.  While I think this is a prefered matchup to Oregon, they are not a push over by any means.

02/16/2017 - 9:02pm Mo Dunk

All I want is a replay/gif/video of that dunk......

Ace please

01/31/2017 - 2:20pm City Hype

My city (Atlanta) just added and is about to kick off their inaugural MLS season.  Following the building of the team from nothing, a new stadium, and an engaged front office has been exicting for me - and I can speak for the rest of Atlanta when I say - for everyone (to the tune of 28,000 out of 30,000 season tickets already sold).

There is a market, I think in Detroit for an MLS team.  The thing I have figured out is that stadium location is probably the most important thing for any new team. I don't know where the Wayne County jail is locacted compared to the other stadiums in the area, but I hope it's a good location

12/22/2016 - 6:32pm Welcome!

This indeed is a "classic Beilein recruit", however I would always love to see more "Top End" dudes. That said, let's see how he develops before passing judgement.

10/17/2016 - 3:10pm Note to Brian:

Note to Brian:

Georgia State =/= Georgia Southern.  You got this flipped on the podcast as well when Georgia State played Wisconsin.

GaSt is a new football program who's total butt and made their first bowl game last year and don't look likely to replicate it.

GaSouthern was a really really good FCS team and made the jump with App State, and have been really good so far at the FBS level.  They are the ones that run the option/Fritzbone/Flexbone attack.  They are quite good, and Purdue should get their old coach.

04/26/2016 - 5:03pm I dont think Caris ever won

I dont think Caris ever won that award.

04/04/2016 - 11:38pm Ayeee! I was hoping somebody

Ayeee! I was hoping somebody would notice! Probably the highlight of my life for the last week or so...

04/04/2016 - 9:18pm I have Villanova

I have Villanova 77 - 74 UNC.

But I want to say, I think Ryan Arcidiacono is such a key.  I see in him the same "thing" that I saw with Stu Douglas and Novak and Jordan Morgan... just a level headedness and total control of the team as a senior leader.

12/20/2015 - 4:31pm New England

One interesting thing of note is that this will be the furthest west he has coached - having been at Uconn, BC, Umass, Yale, and several other places.

11/18/2015 - 9:10pm 29-16 Michigan

02/12/2015 - 3:21pm Thanks/NC Game

The worst that happened to me was at the National Championship Game in Atlanta against Louisville.  I had gotten tickets from a good friend of mine who is an IU fan who reserved them through his company (they had gotten a whole row to give out to employees) and he was banking on his Hoosiers making it farther than they did.  Anyways, most of the people in the section (corner of the dome, about 40-60 rows back opposite the Louisville bench) were corporate people who mostly had neutral (or louisville) stuff on.  After the first opening mins, everyone sat down for a commercial, and after that I immediately stood back up when action resumed.  This was met by a chorus of boos and calls from behind me.  I turned around, and the people were screaming at me to sit down so I could see.  I told them I wanted to watch the action on the court instead of the video board.  This, coupled with cheering and clapping with every three that Albrecht rained from the Heavens did not settle well with me.  A man and his son sitting next to me had also been given tickets, and were in bright Maize shirts.  Amid high fives after another Albrech three, I remember one man standing up, walking over to us by the isle and screaming "sit the fuck down or ill call the security.  its not a rock concert. sit down". This said in front of the guy's ~10 year old kid.  His statement was met with cheers from around us.  Security guy came down, took one look at the situation, and flat out told the guy we werent doing anthing wrong.  He and his group left at the half they were so disgusted.

02/12/2015 - 3:04pm This happens

This happens to me a fair bit. Part of it comes with being 6-4, but I dont know quite how to respond to this? Any tips or hints on what to do other than meekly utter a "sorry" and sit down?

08/22/2014 - 10:04pm All hail

Wooooorrldddstarrr! Wooorrrlldstarrrr! Woooorldstarrr!!!!!

05/23/2014 - 11:10pm Welp

Tis recruiting.  We win some and we lose some.  Let's just try and get another great young man to wear the maize and blue!!!

05/11/2014 - 12:46pm Gave my mom

A hug and then was out the door- am currently on my way to play a US Open golf qualifier... Thanks mom?!?

05/06/2014 - 5:31pm As a warriors fan

I am okay with this fire.

As long as we get someone better.  Jackson is good, but others can do his job better.  It's just a matter of landing one of those people now

04/28/2014 - 4:39pm I will be attending

a Bastille concert this week!!! This summer I'm headed to see Radical Something and Timeflies, but hopefully some more!

04/28/2014 - 3:26pm What is this

And where has it been my whole life?

04/25/2014 - 9:37pm Chance?

04/21/2014 - 1:12pm Several things:

1. They did it on a Friday night, and why they did that, I dont know

2. It was raining

3. I had a friend that went, and said there were at least 800-1200 people there by his estimation, just that everyone was under an overhang or in the concourse when this picture was taken.

04/20/2014 - 9:56am I went to

Wisconsin last summer to play in a golf tournament, and on the first day a guy I was playing with (he was from Chicago, I'm from SEC-land) said I had to try this Culver's place. In the next 5 days I was in Wisconsin, I ate there 6 times. It's so good. So I don't blame this guy. We need more Culver's in the south. It's so good.

04/19/2014 - 3:33pm With both of

These guys being on campus I thought this would happen.

If he hypothetically commits, would this mean we move Hatch to a medical scholarship thingy and go after a big man, possibly in the transfer market? That seems to be the smartest strategy.

Also, stocking up on athletic wings seems to be a pretty decent strategy as well...

04/17/2014 - 4:17pm As an Atlanta

Resident I hope they bring back the Flames name for this team. Probably won't happen though

04/16/2014 - 8:14am Because in

Three years he has shown me literally nothing for me to hope/believe that

04/15/2014 - 7:20pm Non revenue, not at Michigan.

And if I'm reading this correctly, would the student meals on-campus be covered by the school? Or all total meals?

04/15/2014 - 6:51pm I'm going to be a d-1 athlete next year

And I still don't see how this changes things... I'm still on the meal plan, and can get as much food as I want when the dining halls are open. Don't see how this is any different than before

04/15/2014 - 2:59pm Nebraska-MSU

Nebraska-MSU is going to be a great game!!! Looking forward to that one...

04/11/2014 - 3:10pm Good write up - one question

You mention that Michigan would have to "go another route" to replace Horford...

What exactly would that route be? Just throwing the Freshmen into the rotation or adding another recruit? Because I feel like its reletively easy to pick up an Albrecht or LeVert late in the process, there no 6'10" sleeper recruit out there Michigan can just pick up and inject into the starting lineup?

Are there overseas options? Or is the other route a combination of Bielfeldt, Donnal, and the two freshman? (Saying that Mitch leaves.  Hope for the best, prepare for the wost).

What other options does Michigan have? Could we converty Funchess to a Power Forward? /s

But seriously....

04/03/2014 - 7:00am I hope Stauskas is available

In that 15-17 pick area so the Hawks can pick him. He fits so well in that offense, and can learn the ropes under Kyle Korver for 1 year and then take on a big role once Korver leaves. But a Jeff Teague-Stauskas 1-2 sounds so good

04/01/2014 - 6:46pm Cool story bro:

Hall went to my high school, and one time when she was at UGA with Stafford, she came back for a little campus visit and took him with her. This was after his final season but before the draft, and so he was looking for some downtime. I remember wandering by the (presumably empty) weight room while retrieving some supplies for a teacher, and seeing Stafford in there running on the treadmill. I did like a quadrupole take because I didn't think it was him. But this was a suburban Atlanta high school, and at this time he was practically a god around those parts. So I stand there for like 2 mins just looking at him like an idiot, and he notices me (because of the mirrors) and gets off the treadmill. He walks over and shakes my hand. I'm starstruck, with UGA checking in behind Michigan as my favorite team. School got out at 3:00, and this was the last class of the day, and it was about 2:20ish. So, there are no other students around, it's just me and Stafford casually talking about Hall and my school and casual football things for like 10 minutes while he finishes up his workout. He begins to walk out the weight room, and stops at the door to the gym. There's a rack of basketballs and nobody there. Hoops are down. He winks at me and says, "1 on 1?"

Keep in mind at this time I'm a skinny freshman about 120lbs and 5'6" (hadn't hit the growth spurt yet), but I have played my share of basketball over the years. We shoot around for about 5 minutes before playing a causal game of 1 on 1. Here's the kicker:

Matt Stafford is horrible at basketball.

He has no jumpshot, can't shoot a three, and all he could do was clumsily dribble to the rim and make some layups. It was so shocking. It was just as the bell rang, signaling the end of school, when a mass crowd of students rushed the gym waving bits of paper and asking for autographs. Stafford saw them coming, sighed, and looked annoyed. He looked at me, shook my hand, and said "thanks for hangin with me bro". I walked away with a huge smile as stafford was swarmed by masses of young rabid UGA fans. SEC!

But that day, I got to hang out with Matt Stafford for a good part of an hour- not because I forced him to but because he wanted to, which is why he will forever be my favorite NFL player.

Most of my friends never believed it happened, and I got written up for A- skipping 45 minutes of class, and B- never retrieving that item the teacher wanted. But that day, it truly didn't matter

03/30/2014 - 9:15pm And by Walking

And by Walking Dead I'm assuming you're referring to the baseball game currently on ESPN?

03/30/2014 - 9:00am Thank you so much!!!

I had prom that night and didn't get to see it!!

03/24/2014 - 8:02pm Best of luck to Luke.

Hate to say it but he's going to fit very well into Coach K's system. Best of luck to the young man?

Who does Michigan now target? The Texas kid?

03/23/2014 - 1:24pm Mario

Mario Chalmers maybe... Geez that was awhile ago

03/23/2014 - 12:53pm Probably my greatest

Michigan basketball memory of my entire life happened at the Florida-Michigan game. I was playing a golf tournament that week outside of Austin, and already had plans to fly into Dallas/FortWorth the day of the Florida game. So I fly in at like 11:00 and drive to Jerryworld. I park and am just walking out front with one finger in the air just looking for any ticket. These three michigan fans, all young people in their like mid 20s walk up to me and say they'd give me a ticket for free. I felt bad and gave them like 10$ for it.

Turns out the seats were about 15 rows behind the Michigan bench. Turns out all four of us were on the MGoBlog, and with every Stauskas three that rained from above, we turned and amongst high fives and hugs, flashed the three goggles to the sky, and screamed over and over again "WE HAD SUBS IT WAS CRAZYYYY" followed by an occasional "SPACE, BITCHES". The fans around us probably thought we were nuts. But that day was truly crazy #CoolStoryBro

03/23/2014 - 12:35pm If they had this team

They have right now and a true pass-first-drive-second point guard, they would be unbeatable.
