4 Star BBall recruit: Hunter Dickinson (Crystal Balls)

Submitted by footballguy on September 27th, 2019 at 12:40 AM

The whole staff went in to meet with 2020 7'2" C Hunter Dickinson tonight, with 2 CB's coming in shortly thereafter.

From the getgo, I thought he was going to be our most realistic "big time" recruit (34th on 247) for 2020. And from what I am hearing/seeing, things are going very well with this recruitment!

Notre Dame, Purdue, and Louisville are players here, and also possibly Duke after Kessler committed to UNC (hands off, K...please).

Obviously this isn't a guarantee or anything, but I believe these are the first CB's put in for a Juwan recruit, so I thought it would be good to share.

I mean it's not the most amazing news ever. But it's positive, and it's a hell of a lot better than some random existential or nihilistic thought about Michigan football theory.

Wait should this post be OT? It seems to relate to Michigan sports and not just be a passing thought the OP squeezed out between Busch Lights.

Thanks for the update, OP - good to hear some positive recruiting news for MBB

Sam did say he would, but I believe there have been some issues with that.

We may not *quite* be in the greatest position there compared to Bama.

Also, I'm talking about a CB put in for a recruit who has taken visits with Howard. JAR never visited, so I'm not aware of anybody that would have put a CB in for him. It was obvious he was picking UVA

Is there a reason why you like Hunter better?    I'm not informed enough to have an opinion either way, but the staff was super high on Kessler.   You can't teach 7'2", so give me some of those guys.  Something like 17% of all 7 footers are in the NBA.

Not looking too far ahead but a solid PG in Zeb, and a true rim defending C in Dickinson is a great way to start Howard’s first class at Michigan. Grab and athletic forward that can stretch the floor a little bit and secure Burnett plus his son and I think success will follow.

I'll take CB's all day long - just generates some buzz which these recruits seem to care a lot about. I preferred Kessler because of his skill but don't view Dickinson as a consolation prize by any means. To me he's a better rebounder/defender and will add a lot of toughness to the low post. Now we just need to secure that commitment! Go get em JH!

Well, this was fun while it lasted!

I still have faith, but not a ton. Kessler randomly going to UNC threw a major wrench in all of this.

Didnt know they were going after 2 centers. Hopefully that works against them. One would think the sure positions Howard would recruit very well would be forward and center. Also, how many spots do they have open because they already have 4 committed and look to be the favorite for Williams. Coleman just committed today which is also a power forward , they also have a cg, a PGA and sf committed.

Looks like in the Coleman article he talks about all the commits and says hopefully Mark Williams as well. He may be the end of their 2020 class. I'd take a class of Zeb, Dickinson, Burnett and Jace and be ecstatic with that. Throw in Jaemyn Breakfield A well.
