Right now, this very second, it is July. July is when nothing football happens (Canadians don't count) except BBQs, recruiting, and maybe some reading.bookbook

But in a few days, it won't be July. It will be August. August is when some football things are happening. And the real football things are, like, actually close enough you can start thinking about them without having to say to yourself: "Self, it's still more than a month until football."

So a week from Friday, that is 8/7/2015, at 7 p.m. (like it says above), we're going to sit in a bookstore with our HTTVs open, and we are going to talk about our football things, right out in the open. We will not temper our discussion with "this is all more than four weeks away." We will not preface things with "I know it won't be for awhile until we know this for sure but…" We will not speak of Maryland receivers as if there's only a 15 percent chance they're still on the roster by the time Michigan travels there.

In August, we can talk. We can talk about the football.

SEE:

  • Brian will give a presentation on Harbaugh's offense.
  • MGoBlog staffers yelling "Harbaugh!" at each other.
  • Probably a Draftageddon argument about whose Ohio State slot receiver was a better choice.
  • Profuse apologizing for having this argument, followed by a making up ritual that involves yelling "Harbaugh" at each other.
  • Jim Harbaugh, but only on the odd chance he happens to be walking by at that moment, sees a book with his photo on it, and comes in to see if there really is a cult someone formed around him and whether he can somehow use it to make better football.
  • Other MGoBlog readers who look nothing like their Avatars.

No gate. No bars to entry. Free to the public.

Just invite Harbaugh. I'm sure he would actually go. Worst case, you would probably get a handwritten letter from coach explaining why he wouldn't be able to make it.

I'll be in D.C. during this A2 event but not long enough to catch Brian out east.

And I look exactly like my avatar, only older.

I think this event is upstairs. Also, do yourself a favor and get a coffee at the espresso bar. It is exceptional stuff, and roasted in Detroit.

Wish I could be there -sigh- I love Ann Arbor in the summer.

Edit: FYI it looks like they have moved their roasting to Ypsilanti.

that sounds like a lot of fun. I wish I could attend!

the timing of HTTV being written and the attrition since is an interesting topic. I'd like to hear more about how your perspectives have changed with updated weights and subsequent transfers.

Alas, I'll be in Chicago. And I look nothing like my avatar.

Speaking of Chicago, I'm disappointed there aren't any events here in the area, whether with Brian or the coaches. Not sure if I missed them, or if they didn't happen this year.

Brian used to go out there once a year around now for the alumni association's thing; I don't know if that event was discontinued or he just didn't get asked this year. We are doing other things with the alumni association (announcement to come). We also did an event with Todd Howard the night before the 2013 Northwestern (firedrill field goal) game that I put together. We had planned on doing that again, and had the venue chosen and everything, but Michigan was so unwatchable leading up to M00N that we canceled it.

Maybe we'll do one after the season. Anyway if/when we do it'll be the second the Chicago Alumni Association Club asks us because they are an excellent group to work with. I think they're coming into town for Northwestern (homecoming) this year.
