Nikhai Hill-Green Commits To Michigan Comment Count

Brian May 23rd, 2019 at 11:31 AM

The football program has picked up a third Biff Poggi protege in the 2020 class:

Hill-Green is a 3.5 star prospect who narrowed his list to Wisconsin, Michigan, Indiana, Purdue, and Pitt a few days before his announcement. Nebraska, WVU, and (maybe) LSU are his other claimed offers, so the offers more or less match the rankings here. A full commit post will happen probably tomorrow.

Unfortunately, Lavert Hill graduates after this year so the prospect of a back seven with a Hill, two Greens, and a Hill-Green is off the table.

Gotta start somewhere.

Before Peppers, Michigan wasn't pulling anyone out of NJ worth mentioning, if at all. I just scrolled through 247 all the way back to 2009 and Michigan hadn't gotten anyone from the state before Peppers. Then they got Peppers, and then Gary in large part because of Partridge.

Start off getting some decent recruits from Poggi's program, where other schools have already made inroads, and then land some big fish.

He's not quite in the Bush mold (which I would put McCrone and Thomas in, though I don't think either were quite the prospect Bush was), but would put him more in the Josh Ross or Jordan Anthony mold. He's a little bigger, but has good burst and likes to hit. Can play will or MIKE.

Would currently be rated as my top prospect in the class (probably in the 200-250 range) if I had a say.

No, I get it.  Just joking around.

His size is a bit all over the map, but he seems like a smaller-size LB (6' 1") with some heft behind him (220 lb+) who is probably quicker than he is fast.  But a quick look at the SBNation Pitt leads me to believe he's one of those under-the-radar types who is a multi-year starter and winds up being an NFL guy.  Just a ball of muscle who can identify plays pretty quickly to boot.

Again, I'm not a recruiting guy, but he looks like the type of guy who isn't a star necessarily out of the gate but turns into a really nice piece on a solid defense.

Three great schools for for DC/Balt talent are Gonzaga, St. Johns and St. Frances.  Michigan has blown up in a good way with these schools, which value the NFL pipeline and top-flight academics.  Met a few of the coaches and assistants.  Great to see the Michigan difference being recognized.

Maybe we can petition the NCAA for a sixth year??

Here's his HUDL highlights from last season if anyone is wondering: http://www.hudl.com/v/2ArGMi

His height on different websites is anywhere between 6'1" -6'3" and based on his tape, he might be on the higher side of those measurements because he looks pretty tall and long. He's also pretty quick and hits hard. Idk if I'm crazy but he moves and reminds me of Josh Uche
