Hello: AJ Dillon
Top 250 running back and consensus 4-star A.J. Dillon has committed to Michigan according to ESPN's Brendan Hall:
Lawrence Academy RB AJ Dillon has committed to Michigan, per head coach Paul Zukauskas

Dillon is already 6'1/230 so there's speculation he may wind up at linebacker or fullback or something, but Michigan clearly recruited him as a De'Veon Smith-style bruiseback. Ty Wheatley was his main contact. There's also this from the profile Lorenz put up, along with an officially sanctioned reaction I've bolded:
“The coaches have told me they plan to use me as a running back,” he stated. “They think I’m an every down back there. When I told them I committed they were very excited. Coach Harbaugh let out an excited scream when I told them!”
So…go ahead and do that. More informative update later.

His balance looks incredible on his film though he doesn't look as fast as you'd expect for a 4.6 40. If he can learn to not bounce everything outside and punish tacklers the way Smith does, he could be really dangerous.

That's the bouncing outside that works as a D1 player in HS. Doesn't work so well in college.

He actually seems pretty fast once he's built up a head of steam. It just takes him a second to get there.

Hopefully Wheatley met him, and said "young man, you remind me of someone from a football perspective - that someone is me, about 25 years ago!".
This guy seems like a great fit in a Harbaugh offense - great to see him aboard. The numbers suggest (as Seth noted) that Dillon may end up at FB, which would be great too.

JH recruits football players and then their individual skill set leads them into the positon that they can excel at. I think many kids understand this and they also want to have multiple opportuiities for playing time if their HS position is not where they end up excelling in college. The ones that are not interested in considering another position and only want to be a one-trick pony tend to be "me first" types and aren't the type that help JH build a team anyway. We may lose a few 5-Starz with this strategy but their are many, many 4-Starz that want to work and find a position that they can excel at in order to get drafted. They see multiple opportunities to play as well as to get NFL caliber coaching for 3-4 years. Brilliant recruiting strategy that is paying dividends.

He's got speed, he's got balance, he's got vision, he's got hands, and he has toughness. What's not to like?

If I may be so bold as to suggest a change to the Hello: posts.
When some douchebag ESPN or local jokester 'breaks' a commitment by ruining a kid's announcement, don't give them credit for it. Use another reporter that waits until the kid has had his chance to make the announcement.
This one is debatable - might have been the coach that told the reporter he could report it - but I think it's something that would be nice to consider moving forward. Just a suggestion that I think is fair for the kids committing.

Big bruising back to run between the tackles, but still quick and agile enough to break the run outside when it's there. Another great job recruiting a stud player that works great in their offense.

Good balance and runs through contact, but speed/quickness don't seem particularly noteworthy. Amaury Samuel appears to have more impressive wheels, albeit he's a smaller back. I wonder if Dillon's commitment affects the recruitment of Samuel at all.
