(Slight) MD DT Darian Cooper Update (Not TomVH)
SIAP...but back-to-back posts..whoa!
Anyway, It appears that all hope for MD DT Darian Cooper is not yet lost. Four days ago, it appeared as though Darian had eliminated Michigan, per a GBW report. However, Tom retweeted this from Cooper on Thursday:
DT Darian Cooper RT @SuperCooper93michigan coach just left my house
Intrigued, I did a little snooping. a dismayed fan asked him the following question over twitter:
@SuperCooper93 you really dropped Michigan???say it ain't so!!! Good luck whoever you choose, except when you play the maize and blue
Darian responded with the following:
@JRednick no I just want to know what happens with the coaching staff
So, it looks like, once the coaching situation is resolved, we could still have a very real shot with the kid.

You mean Darian Cooper didn't already sign his Letter of Intent with another school?
December 18th, 2010 at 9:27 AM ^
Easy R. Lee, not everyone can be calm, cool and collected as you are.
December 18th, 2010 at 9:32 AM ^
Im not sure that people were freaking out, but this is something other than a CC thread to talk about and its not shitty news, so I'll take it. We need decent news to read up until D-Day (Brandon's decision) and signing day and this qualifies for me.
December 18th, 2010 at 9:38 AM ^
Seems to me that this direct quote from Cooper indicates that the no- decision is hurting recruting... imagine that...
December 18th, 2010 at 10:02 AM ^
And yet it only matters who's first when you cross the finish line.
December 18th, 2010 at 10:49 AM ^
And right now according to Rivls we are 24th. So yea, for once you are accurate.
December 18th, 2010 at 4:17 PM ^
That's not what I meant, and you know it. And if you're expecting Michigan to have the #1 recruiting class in the country, you're going to be perennially disappointed.
December 18th, 2010 at 11:37 AM ^
... in Nascar.
December 18th, 2010 at 11:52 AM ^
"You can be 2nd, you can be third, hell, you can even be fourth. "
December 18th, 2010 at 2:14 PM ^
I was high on peyote when I said that.
December 18th, 2010 at 12:07 PM ^
Nothing that happens before then matters. Its an irrelevent vaccum of non-events until signing day when kids wake up and ask themselves "where should I go to college"?
December 18th, 2010 at 11:13 AM ^
...the coaching situation didn't affect Michigan Robot's commitment at all.
And he has more stars than Cooper.

with a signature line that says, "Blake Countess, Wolverine."
No signed letter of intent from him, either.
December 18th, 2010 at 10:50 AM ^
How dare you point out the hypocrisy of Magnus!!
/gospel
December 18th, 2010 at 1:09 PM ^
Magnus' "signature line" is a link to the most recent post on his blog. Currently that is a report on Countess' announcement of his intention to play at Michigan along with Magnus' opinion of his ability.
December 18th, 2010 at 4:15 PM ^
That's not irony. It's a scouting report and a report on a recruit's intentions to play college football at Michigan.
I'm not saying we shouldn't care about recruiting, period. I enjoy following recruiting. But I'm also not bent out of shape that some random kids from around the country haven't announced their intentions yet.
December 18th, 2010 at 9:23 AM ^
Thanks for the early info. You really are Tom Jr.
December 18th, 2010 at 9:25 AM ^
Coach Rod has demonstrated that he knows how to close.
We'll be fine.
December 18th, 2010 at 9:33 AM ^
"Just maybe you should get some self-confidence ya jackwagon. Tissue?"
December 18th, 2010 at 11:12 AM ^
But Namby Pamby Land is so nice this time of year.
December 18th, 2010 at 9:41 AM ^
I am amazed this staff can get any players to commit, but Michigan is a very powerful and great place. These coaches definitely have been pretty good at closing medium range to potentially good defensive talent. Probably not the size and explosiveness we need to kick butt in the conference, but I guess good enough for what the coaches must think we need. Whole other issue there.
December 18th, 2010 at 2:46 PM ^
You are my least favorite poster. Please go away.
December 18th, 2010 at 3:02 PM ^
Isn't USC the very powerful place?
December 18th, 2010 at 4:08 PM ^
Yes because Iowa and Wisconsin are always getting four and five star recruits...
Wait....they don't? Then how can they possible be good?
December 18th, 2010 at 10:20 AM ^
Not a big surprise. David Brandon's "limbo" was never having as big of an effect on recruiting as some people are claiming.
Also, TomVH (if you see this) would you please stick to recruiting news and do not tweet about the coaching situation anymore. I'd appreciate it. Unfortunately, your tweet a couple days ago added a lot of gasoline to the negativity inferno.
December 18th, 2010 at 10:46 AM ^
Yikes....I see your new round these parts but calling out TomVH is pretty much like pissing on Bo's grave.
TomVH gives us some of the *best* recruiting reporting out there and its always a no bullshit account.
December 18th, 2010 at 10:53 AM ^
Uhhhhh no.
December 18th, 2010 at 3:01 PM ^
" like pissing on Bo's grave" REALLY!?! I appreciate the recruiting updates as much as most, but really dude, bad analogy.
December 18th, 2010 at 10:55 AM ^
I agree. TomVH has been tweeting a lot of things like, "Good week for Rich Rodriguez, even though he might not have a job in a couple weeks."
He seems to have taken a Sharp/Rosenberg approach to his Twittering.
December 18th, 2010 at 11:38 AM ^
Please show me where I have "been tweeting a lot of things like, Good week for Rich Rodriguez, even though he might not have a job in a couple weeks."
Here's my Twitter feed for anyone to see...
The only tweet that even remotely comes close to what you're accusing me of is the one that says, "Rich Rodriguez should be applauded for gaining two quality commitments this week despite not knowing if he'll have a job in 3 weeks."
That's not all that negative to me, considering he doesn't know if he'll have a job. My Twitter feed is not regulated by anyone but me, and I'll tweet about anything I'd like to. If you don't like it, then don't follow me on there, or don't read it. I'm a big fan of Rich Rodriguez, how you're interpreting my tweets is not my problem.
December 18th, 2010 at 11:47 AM ^
Rich Rodriguez should be applauded for gaining two quality commitments this week despite not knowing if he'll have a job in 3 weeks.
I just think the last part is entirely unnecessary, that's all. I wasn't trying to be a dick.
December 18th, 2010 at 11:49 AM ^
That's fine if you think it's unnecessary, but I want to make sure that everyone knows I haven't been saying Rich Rodriguez might not have a job in a few weeks, and I haven't been saying it a lot.
Me saying that Rich Rodriguez doesn't know if he'll have a job in three weeks (which is true), is completely different than me saying that I think he might not have a job in a few weeks.
December 18th, 2010 at 1:08 PM ^
I thought he was talking about your Dallas Crawford tweet a few days ago when I first read that comment. Not that the Dallas tweet was bad, you were just stating the facts. Dallas is taking a peek just in case, which I would too. Colorado's new staff has rescinded a couple of offers since they have been hired. There is no guarantee any of these kids will even keep their offer if a new staff comes in.

Way to jump in, call them out and defend yourself! Way to go Tom!! I Love this guy! He reports, excellent, he fights, excellent, what's not to like?
December 18th, 2010 at 11:47 AM ^
I'd like to see jhackney (aka Hunter S.) drop the bomb on this one. Tom provides some of the best information for us.
December 18th, 2010 at 1:29 PM ^
Haha, yeah jhackney never seems to fail with that shtick. Keep doing what you do, TomVH. The Michigan recruiting world needs you!

Love hearing about Defensive recruits being interested. Also, Would LOVE to see some highly rated horses in the front 7 of the D, but will never be upset about a talented DB committed or being interested. With the horrific recent injury history of our secondary, I think depth is a great thing.
Tom VH is the man! Free insider access on recruits we creepily wait around to hear about is awesome!

long as coach comes back we should have at least a top ten class. If we get a new coach we will drop,it's that simple.GO BLUE!!!
