I just ran the 40 yard dash for the first time in my life. I was actually quite pleased with my time: 5.55 seconds
Anyone else here want to share their 40 times? Hell, lets throw in all of the combine drills and see who would win and MGoBlog combines.

Damn... I ran a 5.0 in high school. I don't know what I run now, but I sure hope I'm not slower than a 5.55.

I ran a 20 in 2.5 seconds, then stopped for an hour then another 20 in 2.5 seconds.

Now at age 25 (and about 185 lbs) it's a struggle to touch rim, and if I tried really hard I'd probably just wrench my lower back or calf.
It only gets worse brotha....I could dunk at 25. Now I'm 34, and barely want to get up and look for the remote.
I'm trying to dunk for the first time. I've been able to lay the ball in and grab rim, but I can't flush the ball through. I'm trying some different workouts to a) improve my leaping ability and b) lose about 20 pounds. We'll see how it goes...
I found the stronger my core got the better I was getting off the ground and then I started doing jump rope circuits and it became pretty easy. You're a bit bigger than me but those two definitely helped.
Magnus, let me know what workout works best. I'm about your same stats, 6'3, 237. Need to lose about 20-25 LBS's before summertime.
Hey I've lost close to 90 pounds over the last year and a half and what worked for me was I set up a circuit training schedule and worked my largest muscle groups 3 days a week and on the days in between I either attended a spinning class when I could or just walked on an incline for an hour or two on the treadmill or any other exercise that would work my legs the most. Of course when I started I could not do as much but if you really are dedicated to it, it pays off big time. Also watch what you eat, which is a given, but incorporating a handful of nuts like almonds or pistachio or walnuts into your day will go a long way in helping control your appetite.

But seriously, congrats on the weight loss. I myself am about 30-50 pounds overweight (I'm 5'10", 250ish, but just big bodied...I haven't weighed less than 190 since 7th grade). I started going to the gym last December after about a six year hiatus. I've been strength training pretty hard with a buddy, as well as doing about 65 minutes on the elliptical, five to six days a week (three days on, one off). I've also stopped consuming fast food and soda completely (use to eat fast food almost daily, and would drink about 4 to 6 sodas a day). How much have I lost since I started you ask? Nothing! I've actually GAINED NINE FUCKING POUNDS! I'm pissed off. So this week I've cut my caloric intake to around 2,000 a day. I'm hungry and grumpy all the time, so this diet better work. The weed helps the grumpiness, but sure doesn't help the hunger.
my brother lost a ton of weight by eating 6 really small meals a day. Like 400 cals each.
Yea I forgot to add that part in there. When I meant diet, I meant like 1500 calories a day. It sucks for about a week, but then your body and mind adjust to it. Just keep yourself busy and go to bed early. Honestly what really kills a diet is staying up late and having that midnight hunger creep up on you. Never and I mean never if you are trying to lose weight eat 3-4 hours before you got to bed. Normally our bodies at night go into an energy conserving mode so any food you eat will most likely get stored as fat.

The 300 workout is the entire body and it will really get you. I'll do 300 workout for about 2 weeks then switch it up so my muscles don't get used to it.

Had my wife time me the other day by coincidence, 5.8 40 time. 6 reps at 225 lbs. but I can do 10 reps on the incline bench press at 200 lbs. I'm 44 so I feel decent about those stats. Don't know my vertical but I'm sure it sucks.

I haven't run the 40 since maybe 6th grade, and I can't remember my time. But funny enough, i'm doing a competition at work and i ran a 200m in 27.2... My goal is to bring it down to 26.
I also have the goal of 400m in sub 57... It's tough when my work schedule blows. If anyone cares i'd be glad to let you know the results.
I'll have to get back to you on the benching and vertical, but I can grab rim.
OH and while we're at it ... 6'0 175lbs brown hair brown eyes, tanned, love long walks on the beaaach.

Needless to say I went from fullback to 0-line in two years. Never had more fun than on the O-line!!!!!

- 40-yd: I'm a distance runner, but I can do 75-second 400 yard splits for training, so that means my 40 would be 7.5 seconds. Wait...shit.
- 225 reps: Hell no. I'm a yoga man! I can hold the Crane Pose for like, 2 minutes straight, and I can Downward Facing Dog like a muthafucka.

225 x 1 (my bench is, was and always will be pathetic, I blame it on the long arms)
If you have longer arms, widen your grip. That will spread the load out alittle more evenly across your sholders enabling you to more more weight.
I have the same problem with the bench press. I'm 6'4" and have a 6'6" wingspan. Kills me..
Do I get to drive the 40? Or maybe ski it? I think it would take me several days to run 40 yards.
We'll take 'em all with our grit.
I never played football, but I did get 13 reps at 225 once at a whopping 5'7" and 175 lbs.
Never timed in the 40, but im guessing it would be in the 4.8 - 4.9 range.
