The Ohio University Bobcat is My Friend
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=577hN8tQM6g
I believe that the Bobcat is being treated unfairly by being banned and should be welcomed in Ann Arbor with open arms. Make sure to watch the whole video, that Bobcat is tenacious.
GO BLUE!

damn! i literally just created an account to post this, only to find out that new users cant start threads. beaten to the punch.
my fav quote from espn:
"Moments later, the Bobcat mascot climbed on the back of Ohio State's mascot and rode him to the ground."
September 20th, 2010 at 1:24 PM ^
Haha that is hilarious. Too bad he whiffed the first time though.
September 20th, 2010 at 3:16 PM ^
He did stay with the play and wrap him up on the second effort though.
September 20th, 2010 at 4:11 PM ^
That is true. I will give him credit for not giving up and punching him in the face.
September 21st, 2010 at 12:47 AM ^
What's his forty time? Can we use him in our secondary?

Mascot fights are the best.
EDIT: Rash and I embedded at the same time, so I removed mine.

I love the move he pulls at around 40 sec. Its hilarious.

... to think of the meaning of throwing punches with a gloved hand that resembles feathers, like a Warner Brothers cartoon duck, at a the jaw of a head that is made of fiberglass and acrylic plush. Naturally, you wouldn't "knock out" such a head. But perhaps you'd create the effect in which stars and odd planets orbited around the head of the punch-recipient. Or, better yet, a thought balloon in which a cuckoo clock suddenly chimed.
September 20th, 2010 at 1:32 PM ^
I thought that it was mascot protocol to fake fight between the critters. Could it be that people in Colombus have no sense of humor, when it comes to their beloved nut.

Given the final score that was probably the best play anyone made that day against OSU.
September 20th, 2010 at 1:34 PM ^
Too bad the actual team didn't do that.
September 20th, 2010 at 1:36 PM ^
The bobcat may not be the most athletically gifted mascot in the world but his motor does not stop, the kind of guy you want on your team
September 20th, 2010 at 1:50 PM ^
He has to tackle lower though, he went for the shoulder pads on the first try. It would have been much, much better if he rocked him at the knees.
September 20th, 2010 at 1:38 PM ^
He shoulda went for the legs on that first tackle.
September 20th, 2010 at 1:49 PM ^
After watching this I see why Michigan doesn't need a mascot.
September 20th, 2010 at 3:19 PM ^
A live wolverine would have been much more effective.
September 21st, 2010 at 3:24 AM ^
I think Michigan tried that once....
September 20th, 2010 at 2:00 PM ^
how it is possible to feel aggressive from inside a giant fursuit while staring down another man ALSO inside of a giant fursuit.
September 20th, 2010 at 2:16 PM ^
it is really quite entertaining.
and, i think it is great bobcat did this during the walk on.

..he gets back up and does a "What's up?" with his hands, but never has the Nuts to go after the Bobcat.
Bobcat = win.
September 21st, 2010 at 12:16 AM ^
I read that less as a "What's up?" and more as a "What the fuck are you doing?"
Don't you know who I am?
September 20th, 2010 at 3:20 PM ^
for the Bobcat. Sides still... hurting... over here... too m-much... laughter...

Here's another link and video from an osu site. It seemed to upset the buckeye faithful, the posted comments from the hillbillies are pretty funny. Sorry If this is the exact same video from YouTube, I can't open that one @ work to see.

than I was watching Rufus rough up Brutus.
Well...beating Georgetown in the tournament was pretty special too.

deserves a guest appearance at the Big House.
September 20th, 2010 at 5:39 PM ^
He won't be doing anything else that weekend after the university banhammer:
September 20th, 2010 at 3:23 PM ^
That was just plain hilarious. I like how he managed to tip over the Nut in the endzone and then was pounding him in the face with right hooks.
The comments on youtube by disgusted Buckeye fans are equally amusing. I love how it is "disgraceful" to assault their mascot, but when it is an opposing fan or the opposing fan's personal property, it is somehow excusable.
September 20th, 2010 at 3:28 PM ^
This makes me long for the days when our cheerleaders used to grab the opposing mascot and ram his crotch into the goalposts.
September 20th, 2010 at 5:18 PM ^
I was wondering if I should date myself and post this same comment when you beat me to it. I used to think that was hilarious. It's much better than having to watch the ND Irish "mascot" run around and pump his fists like a d-bag! I've had to physically restrain myself from throwing the TV out the window when they show that goober celebrating a ND touchdown.

+ 100 points to the bobcat.

I'm so proud of Rufus!!! I just wish the Bobcats had put up a better fight! Oh well.
September 20th, 2010 at 4:03 PM ^
Here's to hoping that Swoop will sense Brutus' vulnerability and do the same thing to Brutus this weekend. Although I predict that Ohio State will probably give a worse drubbing to Eastern than Ohio.
September 20th, 2010 at 4:03 PM ^
Bruce Kimball executed a perfect diving tackle on Brutus before the OSU-Michigan game (either '83 or '85). The mascot (a she according to the Michigan Daily) got up and started beating him with the then bent OSU flag before the conflaguration could be broken up. The Daily voted it best open-field tackle of the year. That and Kolasar toasting OSU's stupid 8-man front are my two cherished moments from the series I saw while a student. (Earl Bruce said afterwards that he didn't know Kolasar was that fast, which I thought was pretty funny because I knew he was one of the fastest guys on the team. And what do I know?)
September 20th, 2010 at 6:12 PM ^
Perfect execution! Brutus was running down the field with that stupid flag and went down in a heap!
And here's Wolverine Historian's 1985 OSU @ U-M vid:
Maybe the kickers should watch this. 1:55 Pat Moons takes his first (!!!) FG attempt - in the OSU game (!!!!!) - and makes it. Talk about pressure. He later makes another one.
And at the end the sweet, sweet memory of Harbaugh to Kolesar. (Man, did Harbaugh get crushed by a blitzer, but it was too late.)
September 20th, 2010 at 4:33 PM ^
Can he kick field goals too?
September 20th, 2010 at 4:38 PM ^
That is one of the only times I would like to be dressed up in a mascot uniform!
September 20th, 2010 at 6:38 PM ^
I love that this kid planned the attack for over a year and wasn't even enrolled in Ohio U when he carried it out. Brandon Hanning you are a legend!

The kid deserves to be on Sportsnation tour of the big ten just because of this epic feat
