damn!  i literally just created an account to post this, only to find out that new users cant start threads.  beaten to the punch.

my fav quote from espn:

"Moments later, the Bobcat mascot climbed on the back of Ohio State's mascot and rode him to the ground."

... to think of the meaning of throwing punches with a gloved hand that resembles feathers, like a Warner Brothers cartoon duck, at a the jaw of a head that is made of fiberglass and acrylic plush.  Naturally, you wouldn't "knock out" such a head.  But perhaps you'd create the effect in which stars and odd planets orbited around the head of the punch-recipient.  Or, better yet, a thought balloon in which a cuckoo clock suddenly chimed.

I thought that it was mascot protocol to fake fight between the critters. Could it be that people in Colombus have no sense of humor,  when it comes to their beloved nut.

We were in the shoe on Saturday for that awful game. The Bobcat takedown of Brutus was a clear highlight (along with Pryors' two picks). That place is so orchestrated, such a sponsored production. One of the marketing folks/nut handlers rushed over in a panic to free Brutus. We thought they would have the cat arrested. Very funny.

That was just plain hilarious.  I like how he managed to tip over the Nut in the endzone and then was pounding him in the face with right hooks.

The comments on youtube by disgusted Buckeye fans are equally amusing.  I love how it is "disgraceful" to assault their mascot, but when it is an opposing fan or the opposing fan's personal property, it  is somehow excusable.

I was wondering if I should date myself and post this same comment when you beat me to it.  I used to think that was hilarious.  It's much better than having to watch the ND Irish "mascot" run around and pump his fists like a d-bag!  I've had to physically restrain myself from throwing the TV out the window when they show that goober celebrating a ND touchdown.

Here's to hoping that Swoop will sense Brutus' vulnerability and do the same thing to Brutus this weekend.  Although I predict that Ohio State will probably give a worse drubbing to Eastern than Ohio.

Bruce Kimball executed a perfect diving tackle on Brutus before the OSU-Michigan game (either '83 or '85).  The mascot (a she according to the Michigan Daily) got up and started beating him with the then bent OSU flag before the conflaguration could be broken up.  The Daily voted it best open-field tackle of the year.  That and Kolasar toasting OSU's stupid 8-man front are my two cherished moments from the series I saw while a student.  (Earl Bruce said afterwards that he didn't know Kolasar was that fast, which I thought was pretty funny because I knew he was one of the fastest guys on the team.  And what do I know?)

Perfect execution!  Brutus was running down the field with that stupid flag and went down in a heap!

And here's Wolverine Historian's 1985 OSU @ U-M vid:

Maybe the kickers should watch this.  1:55 Pat Moons takes his first (!!!) FG attempt - in the OSU game (!!!!!) - and makes it.  Talk about pressure.  He later makes another one.

And at the end the sweet, sweet memory of Harbaugh to Kolesar.  (Man, did Harbaugh get crushed by a blitzer, but it was too late.)
