My hands are shaking a bit as I type this. Michigan was in trouble. They were in a tough spot with everything against them, and they responded. They showed great character and grit. Great win for Coach Rodriguez, his staff, and the players. Damn I am proud of this football team.
Great win for the program, and maybe we have finally turned a corner. One thing is for sure.. "It's Good To Be A Michigan Wolverine !!!!!"

I adore Denard, but our defense absolutely killed it at times. Save that 95 yarder we really snubbed their offense
September 11th, 2010 at 7:40 PM ^
Awesome win! Take that damefan1 bwahahaha! Denard is a BEAST and will win a heisman if he keeps playing like this. Please fire Tony Gibson at the end of the season. Let him take his crappy special teams and defensive back coaching with him.
September 11th, 2010 at 7:41 PM ^
FanDAMNtastic!!!!!!!!!!!
The 2nd half was agonizing.........but DAMN was it worth the semi-heart attack they gave me!
Denard is flat out AMAZING!!

Denard - Longest run against ND since 1951, he's a Superstar!!!!
September 11th, 2010 at 7:44 PM ^
That is all.
September 11th, 2010 at 7:45 PM ^
Unbelievable game. If the defense doesn't make a couple big mistakes and big penalties and we're talking about a comfortable win
September 11th, 2010 at 8:10 PM ^
Ooops, double post. I've got to have a drink and calm the hell down....I'm so happy!!!!
September 11th, 2010 at 7:45 PM ^
My wife is 12 weeks pregnant with our first child and I just told her to put "Denard" on the short list for baby names! Woooooo!!!!!

September 11th, 2010 at 7:46 PM ^
My guess is today bought RichRod another year, pretty much regardless of how the rest of the year goes. It is laughable when you think back to him trying to create this offense with Threet and Sheridan when he first arrived. Now that he has shown what he can do with his guys, I think he has proven he belongs in AA. Plus, just wait until some of these young guys on Defense start to figure things out (like not giving up 95 yard td passes). We are scary now and are only going to get scarier!
September 11th, 2010 at 7:47 PM ^
Let's count the reasons:
- dropped TD in the endzone
- 2 missed FGs
- "fumble" at the 1 as ND ran it in (would this be a TO or would ND get it at the 1?)
- horseshit 15 yd penalties on Grady and Cullen
- we couldn't get a holding or PI call all day
- EDIT: we also had at least 5 critical drops
If we aren't in SB this is a 21 point win.
September 11th, 2010 at 7:48 PM ^
I'd say at least a couple of those are negated by the bad luck they had not having Crist in the game for almost all of the first half. Still though, we played well except for a few mistakes/botched calls. I'll take a win any day!
September 11th, 2010 at 8:06 PM ^
the one TD nd got that they shouldn't because of the early celebration that should have been a touchback.
September 11th, 2010 at 7:49 PM ^
Agreed, this game never should have been this close. Had we lost, I wouldn't have even blamed the Defense (despite that 95 yard debacle). Our Offense had lots of opportunities and great field position all day and we didn't convert into points. We knew our D would give up some big plays, and they definitely did. But we didn't know that they could make some big plays and create some turnovers.
September 11th, 2010 at 8:08 PM ^
Notre Dame had some miscues, too:
-3 interceptions
-missing their starting QB for a half
-2 horrible throws that could have been touchdowns, one to end each half
-Some awful overthrows by Crist on open recievers
-Very generous spot for us on the 3rd down before Robinson broke his 87 yarder
Let's just say that neither team lacked mistakes.
September 11th, 2010 at 11:42 PM ^
i don't really wanna bitch about the fumble. It would have been hillarious if they called it, but I don't really think we could say we were entitled to have that wide open TD overturned. I really don't like ref bitching either. I was in the ND student section for the game, and while the fans were all actually really nice, I forgot how insufferable their wining about calls are. Holistically, it was a pretty fairly called game all around.
September 11th, 2010 at 7:46 PM ^
I had 10 lynchburg lemonades and 3 heart attacks. And the night is still young. First: celebration pizza. After: the hospital.
September 11th, 2010 at 7:52 PM ^
I'm pretty sure your heart attacks are due to the Lynchburgs, not the game. Those things are disgusting.

HIGH FIVES AND CHEST BUMPS TO ALL MY MGOFRIENDS!!!!!!!!
DENARD. THE TRUTH. BOOK IT
September 11th, 2010 at 7:50 PM ^
Not surprising since it is essentially a homer broadcast, but why only one angle on the "TD" where Floyd dropped the ball before crossing the goal line? That was strangely glossed over by our intrepid TV broadcast team.
September 11th, 2010 at 7:54 PM ^
There was also a play in the first half when ND held our receivers on a 3rd & long play and there was no call. Denard and half the offense were screaming their heads off about it but there was no flag. The announcers didn't say a word and didn't show a replay.
September 11th, 2010 at 8:08 PM ^
#7, but you're right, only one angle, at first they said it was obviously a touchback, but then they backtracked on that and mumbled something about only having the one angle. B.S.
September 12th, 2010 at 11:18 AM ^
Thanks, stand corrected, not Floyd. Abysmal sequence regardless
September 11th, 2010 at 7:50 PM ^
I stop watching in the 4th, and just watch my husband's face as he watches. He's not that emotional, so it's much easier to take.
I just can't fucking believe we won.

September 11th, 2010 at 7:52 PM ^
Remember, Notre Dame has a bunch of highly rated guys on the defense who are all really athletic. Denard is going to be unstoppable against the defenses that aren't as fast.

Monti Te'o is a big time player. He was all over the field today.

congrats to Coach Rodriguez!!
You have brought a fantastic offense to Michigan. With the right players....its the best offense to watch there is!

I'm dead. Denard scores, but I manage to whisper from beyond the grave, "I love you, little kid."

Anyone else watching the NBC webcast of the news conferences? It's great stuff. i gotta say that Kelly is a classy guy in the loss.

He really is. That program is heading places. Can't wait for that night game at Michigan Stadium next fall.

...U-M Club of Tidewater. Caught the game at their viewing party in Chesapeake. Was prepared to reveal my secret identity to any MGoBloggers, but I don't believe there was anyone there except for one guy who said he was a lurker. Still a ton of fun.
September 11th, 2010 at 7:56 PM ^
and that isn't even taking the game into consideration.
I survived the game and Camp Grenada/Live Blog my some miracle.
Defense. Bless your cotton-pickin' Maize and Blue hearts. Please try and not repeat this too much. I do still maintain that our young defense is coming together as a team and learning what they are capable of (besides being held). I couldn't have gotten Crist as much time to make some of those throws with a gun. Yes, we are thin on talent in a spot or two, but with a bit of luck and a lot of effort we we pulled off a win that I did not think we could manage.
September 11th, 2010 at 7:58 PM ^
It's also great to see the D come up with 3 picks today. If we could have converted any of those into points we blow ND out of their own stadium. Nevertheless the offense comes up huge when the game was on the line and thats the most encouraging thing to me. That Denard for Heisman hype is sure to gain more traction after his 502 total yds today, what an amazing performance. I love you Denard.
September 11th, 2010 at 8:04 PM ^
I love Denard so much I had my first double post..

September 11th, 2010 at 8:04 PM ^
i know this is early but does anyone know how good of a fcs team umass is? just curious with multiple fcs teams beating VaTech and Minnisota today? I see they beat William&Mary this year but any idea what type of team and if there is any possibility they can cause any trouble for us?
September 11th, 2010 at 8:08 PM ^
But after two shots of Jack and a heart attack in the final minute, I am alive and we prevailed....
Here's to ya, Michigan.
