It's an honor and challenge for Nebraska competing with UM in the same division

I can't quite put my finger on where though...
September 1st, 2010 at 7:07 PM ^
Am I way behind you guys? Sorry, long time lurker who usually avoids posting because I can never keep up.
September 1st, 2010 at 7:05 PM ^
I'm glad we'll be playing you guys every year, should be exciting.
But we do frown upon illegal kicks, FYI.
September 1st, 2010 at 7:05 PM ^
I definitely look forward to playing the Huskers on a regular basis. The ingredients are there for a strong new rivalry. I just didn't want it to happen at the end of the regular season and displace OSU.
September 1st, 2010 at 7:06 PM ^
I'm excited to see Nebraska in the Big Ten.
September 1st, 2010 at 7:06 PM ^
hey thanks dude! rock on
September 1st, 2010 at 7:08 PM ^
I'm excited about a growing rivalry with Nebraska. It's going to be fun.
September 1st, 2010 at 7:10 PM ^
Never mind. Nebraska's family now. Carry on.
September 1st, 2010 at 7:10 PM ^
I'm really excited about gaining another rivalry that will definitely become intense with Michigan and Nebraska's past. Splitting the 97 title and the OMG Pitch the damn ball to Breston game. Looking forward to it!!
September 1st, 2010 at 7:14 PM ^
And also very glad we have you at home next year. Being my senior year in 2011, I'm glad I get a shot to make the first conference Michigan-Nebraska game without breaking the bank for a road trip.
September 1st, 2010 at 7:15 PM ^
The Michigan/Nebraska match up is going to be legen...wait for it...dary!
September 1st, 2010 at 7:23 PM ^
...Michigan now has four legitimate rivalry games on its schedule. And, make no mistake about it, Michigan/Nebraska is a natural "instant rivalry game."
Michigan's schedule is now as tough as that of anyone in the country, including the SEC.
September 1st, 2010 at 7:29 PM ^
Our schedule is going to be getting tougher and tougher as well. Which I actually like, the more big name teams we beat, the quicker people will realize that Michigan is the best football environment that there is.
September 1st, 2010 at 7:40 PM ^
And that is as weak as our schedule is going to get, given that our unprotected cross-over games are Purdue and Illinois.
Well, I guess Illinois/Indiana might be weaker, but just look at what Nebraska's got to deal with.
September 1st, 2010 at 7:33 PM ^
1) Welcome
2) We look forward to competing with a traditional power like Nebraska on a regular basis
3) We were better in 1997.
September 1st, 2010 at 7:36 PM ^
Iowa will obviously be their biggest B10 rival....but us and Penn St. should make for some great games with them too. I think its cool NE/IA will become the last game for both schools....should be some great battles. And we can count on a very cool home schedule each year with this alignment...this is great for the fans in every way.
September 1st, 2010 at 7:37 PM ^
you guys (Nebraska) have a really REALLY difficult schedule next year.
UW, OSU, Iowa at home. @ Wisc, @PSU, @ Michigan
MSU and Northwestern won't be push overs either.
September 1st, 2010 at 8:14 PM ^
well, guess they wanted to parade the new pony around to the league's elite. But it would be anticlimatic to get a heavy dose of MSU, Indiana, etc. for our debut.
Hey at least if if we win out ---- plus win the BT Title game---we'll be a lock fo the NC game!
September 1st, 2010 at 8:33 PM ^
I would say an undefeated B10 champ, and in some years a 1-loss B10 champ, would be a lock for the BCS tite game.
September 1st, 2010 at 9:20 PM ^
and national championship this year.
September 1st, 2010 at 7:43 PM ^
There was just something about being locked in a division with Penn State that made me think, "10x12 foot jail cell with very large sex offender."
I hope this doesn't hurt our Pennsylvania recruiting -- and I hope it helps us recruit in Big 12 country.
September 1st, 2010 at 7:46 PM ^
Unless one or both of the teams competing in the Big Ten Championship game backs in with say an OOC loss and maybe a loss in a cross-over game, I think that the B-10 champ should be a near "shoe-in" for the National Title game every year. Essentially, we have achieved the playoff system
SEC-Big Ten every year?
September 1st, 2010 at 7:53 PM ^
I'm sure Texas, Oklahoma, Miami, ND, FSU and USC will be fine with that.
September 1st, 2010 at 7:52 PM ^
PITCH THE FUCKING BALL!
September 1st, 2010 at 7:52 PM ^
I don't care what everyone else says, you're alright in my book. But seriously- I look forward to building a strong rivalry.
September 1st, 2010 at 7:52 PM ^
At least until the BCS Championship Game in Phoenix when the rivalry really starts!
September 1st, 2010 at 7:52 PM ^
Welcoming the new rivalry, but good luck with your first 2 years. BRUTAL SCHEDULE for huskers
September 1st, 2010 at 7:55 PM ^
You're already in! They're not going to kick you out now.
Seriously, I am looking forward to the first conference season with Nebraska. At the rate we're going I think we'll be playing converted defensive tackles in the secondary, though.
September 1st, 2010 at 8:10 PM ^
even when they win.
UM and IA were most NU fans top divisional choices, IA because of proximity and UM because....well, you've got the most wins and we have a little history.
And we get The Game having lost the Oklahoma rivalry.
September 1st, 2010 at 8:08 PM ^
which I respect. I think it was a realshame to see that rivalry fade away. Most of that hatred had a lot to do with Barry Switzer.
But something tells me the Michigan-Nebraska series is going to be very interesting over the next several years. It's a great matchup of traditional powers. I just wish there would have been more matchups between the two in the 1970s and 1980s, when both teams were operating at full life force.
September 1st, 2010 at 8:13 PM ^
$10 says that UM-Nebraska becomes a big rivalry game by 2015.
September 1st, 2010 at 8:20 PM ^
i don't see how anyone could overtake Iowa for their natural B10 rival...but we'll clearly be a big game for them every year. Iowa is natural for a rivalry just because of the geography and farms and corn and all that....It's not like everyone has to be "rivals" for the games to be great though...We have ours in OSU, ND, and MSU....do we need a 4th to get excited? hell i'm excited for UConn!!!
September 1st, 2010 at 8:33 PM ^
not like we don't have corn all over the place here? I mean maize
September 1st, 2010 at 8:24 PM ^
Definitely. And anyone with a memory of 2005 should look forward to making some better memories of games vs. Nebraska!
September 1st, 2010 at 8:57 PM ^
As far as I'm concerned, they're already a bigger rival than MSU!
September 1st, 2010 at 10:49 PM ^
September 1st, 2010 at 8:21 PM ^
a trip to Lincoln someday.
What can I say, I think you'll enjoy some of those Big 10 road trips. Camp Randall, Beaver Stadium, Michigan Stadium, Ohio Stadium. Four of college football's toughest and best environments.
September 1st, 2010 at 8:57 PM ^
as my fiance's father is being inducted into the Nebraska football HOF. He played NG on the 70 NC team. I'm really looking forward to the trip and learning more up Nebraska football.
Having them in the same division is going to make my house hell when we play them though.
September 1st, 2010 at 8:31 PM ^
Michigan will play Nebraska at home then the following weekend play Ohio State at home? I will have to take a weeks vacation to Ann Arbor. That is sweet.
September 1st, 2010 at 8:32 PM ^
I already like Nebraska better than OSU.
September 1st, 2010 at 8:35 PM ^
Someone refresh my memory, didn't M play NU twice in bowl games, with a 1-1 record? I remember they were really fun games to watch, hopefully that tradition continues, then it will be an instant rivalry game. Lived in Colorado and NU was always much hated by CU fans, but you can't argue with the class that program has had over the years...
September 1st, 2010 at 9:13 PM ^
Fiesta Bowl sometime in the 80s. Won something like 27-23. Alamo Bowl in 05, lost on the 'Ecker, pitch the g-d ball" play.
September 1st, 2010 at 10:14 PM ^
That win earned us the #2 ranking in the final polls.
September 1st, 2010 at 10:15 PM ^
Just turned 21 and road tripped from Ann Arbor, 40 hours straight..
September 1st, 2010 at 8:50 PM ^
I asked him if he seen the schedule because I thought their schedule looks brutal.
His response "What are you talking about....They look great...Actually, I am pretty sure there is some kind of a "Welcome to the Party" going on there. We will be well served to go 6-2 in conference next year. 5-3 may be on the table as well, as every team will be gunning for us as the reigning National Champions. The good news is that you will have a new coach by this time next year."
I hope all husker fans get a reality check and find out that the Big 10 is much tougher than they imagine.
September 1st, 2010 at 8:56 PM ^
Nebraska might be pretty good right now, but I'm sure everyone in the Big Twelve will be gunning for you too since you're leaving.
September 1st, 2010 at 9:04 PM ^
they play one team that had a 10 win season last year while we play 4. Out of their conference games their opponents have a plus 12 win total (Texas 13-1 who they have at home) and OOC is W. Kentucky, Idaho, Washington, and S. Dakota St. I would put Nebraska in the Big 12 title game.
September 1st, 2010 at 9:22 PM ^
we have a favorable (and horsehit non conferance) schedule this year, but don't forget we also would play OK or TX in the confeance title game if we win our division and we'll even things out next 2 years playing all top 5 BT teams every year.
Its going to be fun playing you guys every year. Guarantee Husker fans will buy any unsold tickets in the Big House.
